I am fine with lockbox ships being extremely mediocre, then no one has to buy them.
This is a viewpoint I have been appreciating more and more. Yeah, a bad ship is annoying, but that just means I can save my money for a ship that I do like.
11:12 You're not wrong, I do a lot of EPG DPS runs and I for the life of me cannot understand what the thinking is behind this ship. It's clearly meant to be a science tank, but it also doesn't have the science tank essentials, namely a command seat for suppression barrage. That console just feels like a weird play on Feedback Pulse that also doesn't help with tanking all that much, and that console just sounds like you can use it to troll more than anything else. It's a pretty ship, but stats wise, they really dropped the ball with this one unfortunately.
Yeah, it has very solo tank vibes rather than proper support tank. And even then, it's still not done well for that.
Problem is, unless someone really doesnt know what they are doing, or just loves the aesthetics, there isn't any place for this ship. Far better 4-3's with better Boff layout for SCI spammers/tanks than this. This is a horrific ship IMO when for the same Inifnity pack you can pick up a Crossfield Refit which is a spectacular SCI spammer, MW so top damage boosting skills and +1 console with a top tier trait 🤦♂

@@GalacticGaming96220 Idk. I'll have to double check in the server, but I'm pretty sure the Crossfield Refit still currently holds the SOLO DPS record for EPG builds.
Thanks for the update Stu. Yet one more ship that fits in those Lockboxes... Be nice to see some of these, good or bad, going to the Pheonix Store or even just on the C Store. But hey, lets feed the gamble box!

I’d love to see the sales metrics of them baiting and milking the player base into gambling.
Love to see on a graph chart 📈 if gambling from players are going up, down, or staying consistent.
@@Fosgate777 I would say going down, as it would work in conjunction to the overall falling active player count in STO. Even then, when new Lockbox/Promo ships first come out, you get a burst of the "look at me" people flexing the ship the first few days. I think Ive seen only 2 of these ships since patch. Though it's not that surprising, seeing its a pretty bad ship overall and not even worth picking up just for its trait and/or console either.
@@junkiexl86 I’ve also noticed more players on around new content and lock box releases as well. After the new content, it quiets back down again.
When I visit the very empty Dyson Sphere Headquarters ground area when you first enter the area, I can only wonder how busy it must have been during this new content release (I wasn’t playing yet during this time)
It really makes me wonder if Cryptic continues to have a huge miss by not constantly evolving and growing new areas to keep the player base engaged leading to this spike in player engagement during events and then fall out after the event.
Yes the events between are there to keep players engaged but like you mentioned, it only gets really busy first few days after lock box or new story mission drop, then it gets quiet again for months.

Every time they bring out ships like this it makes me feel more and more like the devs are out of touch with their own game and how it's played.

Honestly i have reached the point of 'i dont care about any new lockbox ships they add', Recently I have gone back and started playing around with some of my old T5 and T5 Fleet ships and have been having a ton of fun revisiting some of the unique ones that dont really have an equivalent, or an equivalent that i dont care to pick up on the C-Store.
Well, it looks really cool. Kinda feels like a cruiser that got lost and wound up in the Science department though.

its a star destroyer flipped on its side. also i'm pretty sure the front end is the wide end, so it's a wideways star destroyer that flies backwards. But honestly, if it was orientated to look like a star destroyer, i'd probably like it more.
@@Stu1701 I suspect the fact that most people would expect the narrow end to be the front is probably why they would have flipped it around(if it is indeed flipped), just to say 'oh look we're being different guys!'

Which I honestly hope is not the case.....because I DO want to get this ship, IF it's a wedge-shaped warship that travels the right way forward :P
I can handle subpar stats as long as it's workable enough.
@@SaiIor_Moon As a fellow Star Destroyer Enjoyer, might I suggest the Voth Rampart? It has hangars for TIE errr... To'Duj fighters or X-Wi- err Valkyries and 8 guns instead of 6.

You say they really dropped the ball on this one, you are not wrong, however have you ever thought about looking at it from a different perspective, perhaps this ship is "terrible" because most players including myself are used to the "up close and personal slap the enemy upside the face before they even knew what hit them" or the "cloak like im running scared but in reality you are about to meet your maker"
Look at it this way, perhaps it is meant to be a long range annihalator type destroyer to be kept at distance to deal as much damage as possible given its weakness.
You can spin it however you want to justify it, but no matter what, its still a 3-3 with a abysmal console and trait while rocking a poor Boff layout. Far better ships do its job better. Not sure if its immediately in the Infinity Ship Pack, but if it is and you choose this over something else in that pack, you either really dgaf, or didn't do much research and wasted the pack. Akin to people that blew Promo packs for the Ent-J 😬

This looks PRIME for a devastating SS/MAS/NSB Build using those newer Sci consoles for Phaser damage.
I know most Sci ships are best for anomalies, but I think this one goes pew-pew. ❤

I won't be going for any DPS records, but I can handle Elite content with anything, so for me, every build is just for fun.
I don't build for records anymore, I already have been on all the record runs I wish to enjoy. I build to seek out new joy, new inspirations... to boldly build, as no one but an absolute fool would, just to see what it feels like.

@@bigpoppatart61652 Can certainly relate. I don't want to chase the DPS, I want a nice gimmick in some way to build around. So the general idea of this ship appeals to me. But that turn rate combined with lack of weaponry doesn't really scream "viable". I mean, yeah, this ship will probably never blow up, but it also will take its time to blow others up.
Well, I am probably not gonna try it out anyway (unless it appears on Mudd with some nice accompanying stuff).

If that console were in the lockbox singly and people could put it into the Exchange it might have been interesting to pick up there. With it being tied to a cool looking but extremely poorly balanced lockbox ship it is just not worth the hassle or the EC and certainly not worth the Zen.
Does anyone actually use Subsystem targeting. Every Sci ship has it. Yet its so lackluster, its pointless.
Their original intended purpose is pretty useless, but I've been told they're useful for triggering certain traits.
I use it on my sci builds when im out of consoles then repeat my rotation
Anything that can pull shields offline is something that allows you to kill a shield tank. Especially if you're a weak little raider coming out of cloak to get in one barrage for 100% of their health or bust. Especially for a torp raider. I find that it takes about as much time to whittle down shields as it does to proc shields offline with a combination of 3-4 loadouts. And sometimes you pull them down right away.
It looks cool, that's something at least.
What else comes in the box? Any new beam weapons?
Also, another source of Proton damage. Which is a positive. But, the way you deal that Proton dmg isn't good.
Its because of ships like these its either Muds Bundles/C Store/ or Event ships and what do they have in common account wide unlock, lockbox for anything other than ships I may dabble but was burned too much chasing my one and only epic so moving on either the muds released next month or summer ship will be the next step for people. - I do niche and this is too niche for me.
It was a no straight away for me as it is in the gambling box. This is another round of Dyson ships, subpar console and trait, more space barbie than anything else. Depending on the passives, the console may have some use on a tank build, but then you'd have to get the ship from the exchange or lock box. The recent ships (Dyson, Connie II, this one) have all been very underwhelming. Explains why they are putting so much effort into building up the rewards on the events as the new content just isn't up to what it was. The only thing I can hope for is the next season that drops, the mission isn't as stupidly long as the last one that dropped. Also hope Alienware does a decent giveaway for it.

This whole thing has me a bit perplexed. The console sounds like it's just the Feedback Pulse III BOFF ability, except it does a different damage type, I guess.
And putting a ship associated with a STO-original species in a lockbox feels a little odd. Lockbox ships are generally ships from the shows and movies, or at least inspired by them in some cases, which makes sense from a business perspective, since people are more likely to gamble for their favourite ships from the shows. I know the T5 Lukari N'Kaam is also a lockbox ship, but even then... I don't know, the Aetherians are still so new that I'd struggle to imagine anyone rolling a T6 Prize Pack and picking this over popular TV ships like the Protostar or Excelsior II, even _if_ the Revelation's stats were better. Plus, its been forever since a new ship was added to the Lobi store - personally I'd think it would make more business sense to put this there, which could still incentivise people to open boxes for the Lobi, while not throwing it into a list where 99% of people are going to be more interested in the other options.
hmm sounds like this might be a hull and shield tank ship....if its possible for both to run at the same time.
And its a lootbox ship; nope. Maybe next year's event ship.
It could be noted that the console plays into the Proton damage style seen reappear recently. Maybe soon Proton will be more viable than Tetryon. (Just kidding. Cotton Ball damage beats Tetryon)
An absolutely terrible ship to be put in the infinity lockbox... No need to worry about being negative towards it when that's the correct response. Terrible ship, terrible console, terrible trait.

You're being way to kind to this ship, especially considering this is a pricey Lockbox Ship. The bridge layout is bad For a Science Vessel she'll handle terribly. The damage reflect gimmick is going to be funny considering how much Cryptic nerfed such gameplay many years ago. And +Dmg Resistance is pointless because of Diminishing Returns.
I still hold it against Crytpic for nerfing Feedback Pulse into the ground, even after introducing an event ship with literally "Improved Feedback Pulse" trait.
There's a number of good account unlock, fleet t6 science ships with easier, cheaper access than this ship.
Yeah should've been a c-store Mudd ship (not a mudd's bundle ship) rather than a lockbox because it seems far, far more experimental solo "space barbie playtime" than are you lucky punk boxes usual quality.

I don't fly sci, so this is a hard pass for me, but it does look and sound kinda cool!
Was this ship meant to be a science tank? Well, not many people play it. 3/3 weapons, 7 turn rate, it couldn't be worse. Intel/MW is not a good fit for a sci build, on the other hand, you'll still want to play science abilities on those seats. That another eng seat is not that bad here , use Reverse Shield Polarity.
If I wanted to make a science tank, as a dev I'd take another ship, the Borg ship from PIC season 2. And I'd give her an invulnerable front shield (like in the TV show), so it wouldn't matter so much she's slow. Most NPCs can't flank. And then I would try to beat Turei Maru (Korfez with Turei) with her :) or at least solo ISE.
At least they didn’t make the console a 1 up of the DPRM.

I fall under that "really into EPG" crowd. It's expensive and taxing like torpeees but I use a lot of cannabis products so... Pretty screen. Oooo......ahhhh..... KABLOOIE!!!! That's just good times.
While that's a sturdy science ship as a ship overall and as a lock box ship? No thanks. It seems way more "event" than "lock box". Overall extremely low interest. As in if given to me as a gift or if I won one, I'd just put it on the exchange and I love control stuff.

Not sure how big it is, but given the turn rate of 7, I'm guessing pretty big. Though I'll be surprised if it's as big as the Harmony.
