alternatives are few, and coverage is way more limited. I use the thunderstore myself when possible (like for valheim), but sometimes you just cant avoid nexus depending on the game
Don't give Nexus a free pass for this. They chose to act like a publisher rather than a platform. If they hadn't done that, Sony would have no grounds to attack them for platforming a mod.
I remember working on mods to fix skyrim bugs and also add some accessibility features like a dynamic generated fix to replace insects with Draugrs while preserving the drops. This was to allow those with insect fears to play the game. Also the spicy mods like extra gibs or even the basic nude mods back in the day were fun. now its just, 3.1 million LBGT+ follower mods on top of some diamonds in the rough.

That was such a long time ago, I still remember that old Penny Arcade comic where they were wondering where they'd take the series next now that Kratos killed all major greek gods.
I expect things to get much worse. It had a slight mess before it was released... it had a slight mess when it was released... and this mess is merely making those smaller messes seem even worse as it magnifies those problems rather than covers them up... as now it implies something far more sinister and worse from before it was simply allowing you to play a single player game that has no multiplayer functions... to have people ask 'why' they need Sony to track their data for anything they might say when playing a single player game with no online audience. If someone makes a scene... then people are going to ask why... especially when the ones saying it keep claiming there is nothing to see.
The only thing i heard about GOW was that everyone hated that they needed to have an PSN account, even on PC. And that moders made a mod to remove that requirement, because it was a single player game.
All Sony has done with this is start an arms race that they cannot win. Now the general public knows it's possible to mod the game to not need a psn account, if they take one down someone else will reupload it.
You know, I may have given them some credit before and said something like "they have to do that, because circumventing DRM of games is piracy and they cannot host mods that basically enable piracy" and this would have been a fair decision on their part. However their credit for me to actually do that, considering everything else they have done in the past has run quite dry.
My answer to Nexus came some months ago, deleting my account and never accessing this site ever again. If a mod can only be found there, I don't really need the mod.
We need to go back to 2000 style fan forums where we discuss and share knowledge among those who are willing enough to make an account for it. Not these centralised one stop all garbage sites like Nexus, Reddit, Discord and such that would kowtow to their ad provider corporate overlords.
fun fact- piracy is literally not theft in a court of law. piracy only counts as theft if you're literally comitting high-seas robbery. and even then it's not actually theft, which is passive. robberry is aggressive. so they cant even get that one right. Not to mention you could get a privateer permit and legally rob other vessels. the only thing digital piracy counts as is counterfeiting, but you cant give someone a counterfeiting charge for simply downloading or even copying a game. so dont feel bad about those snes roms you have, it's not theft.
I'd say I'll never use Nexusmods again, but I'm a Fallout player, and almost all of the good Fallout mods can't be found anywhere else. But I can guarantee that I won't ever pay for Nexus premium, nor will I ever turn off my ad block while I'm on there.
There is another reason why playstation cares, which is that I think ultimately all big game companies want to become Steam, or pry a piece of the audience away from steam. They want people opening THEIR game hubs to start games and buy games, they want people to visit their stores - or even buy directly and go around steam entirely. They're even willing to take some pretty big losses if they can habituate people to opening their apps instead of steam.
Just seen on twitter, that it may have been the mod's author that removed it. So it may have been the author who could've been approached by legal groups or something. Nexus is still bad for it's politics but, this may not be on them.

“Do what you want because a pirate is free, you are a pirate!”
NO,you MUST artificially inflate psn numbers
"Could you please think of our share holders?! Look, Rupert is really sad, it's already February and he still wasn't able to purchase his annual yacht! Have some mercy, peasants!"
Awhile ago nexus mods became just another hand of the mainstream industrial gaming complex. It's not by gamers for gamers anymore. Ever since the spiderman cult flag fiasco.
For California justice you must give up your personal information to the multi billion dollar company
As someone who recently got into pc gaming. I refuse to give nexus mods any attention. Id be fine with them having a bias if they werent draconian and forcibly removing things they disagree with. Ive heard of a certain gaming bannana but not sure if thats confirmed safe. Id rather use an obscure mod site than give these hypocrites my time or details
Why are people still using Nexus Mods??? They're obviously on the wrong side. There's gotta be an alternative, or if not, there needs to be.
Because gamers are lazy asf. They'll tolerate groomer crap so long as the game is fun. Baulder's Gate 3 for example.
alternatives are few, and coverage is way more limited. I use the thunderstore myself when possible (like for valheim), but sometimes you just cant avoid nexus depending on the game
This is the reason why I never liked game industry's corporate greed.
They infiltrate the mod communities too.
Don't give Nexus a free pass for this. They chose to act like a publisher rather than a platform. If they hadn't done that, Sony would have no grounds to attack them for platforming a mod.
God of Soy Championing Inclusivity
The only reason I would even care about God of war now is because Kratos is voiced by teal’c
Remember when Nexus Mods was for making fun Skyrim videos? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
What happened?

Nexus Mods: "If you can mod it, we can host it "
What a joke...🙄
It's not just getting the game open seas, it's about modding too. It's getting to the point you can't even find the code for a mod like it on Reddit anymore, so I guess P2P will be the way? Just expect governments crack down on it as they're going for Telegram.
Nexus didn't delete the mod, the creator did.
He also deleted his github page because of how popular the mod got and he didn't want to get hit by Sony's big meaty legal stick.
Question
Is he stupid? OF COURSE A MOD LIKE THAT WILL GET POPULAR
Plenty of ways to release a mod.anonimously
Sony officially speed ran me to never ever buy anything from them ever again. The last thing I bought was a Sony TV 6 years ago mainly because Samsung TV's suck. Nothing from Sony since.
I have had credit report monitoring on my credit report for well over a decade because of Sony.
Last two Soyny things I bought was a vinyl turntable in 2021 and a used PS3 from a yard sale.
@@Hypnotically_Caucasian I have two PS3's the first one the blue laser died. The second one I believe still works but after all the PSN bs I just stopped using it.
I was there since they announced PS5 for me. PS3 soured me on Sony, PS4 didn't improve anything and PS5 confirmed I was right to not support them.
@@aj.j5833 I stopped buying PS4 games when I noticed all the anime game censorship. Also the move of Soyny HQ to Californyanya basically sealed the deal.
Nexus has been drinking the Soyny latte I see.
As if they weren't bad enough already.
The only thing this tells me is that Nexus Mods are getting money from Sony or the ones above Sony.
or avoiding a lawsuit
@@Steven9567 On what legal grounds could Sony sue Nexus Mods? Even if they made it, this wouldn't fall under copyright, patent or IP theft, pretty sure it wouldn't fall under trademark either. nexus has nothing to fear because people making mods for a game is perfectly legal. The only reason I can think of for them removing this mod is because it's what Sony wants.
If I want to play God of War, then I'll just play the first three. They're better than the last two anyway. Especially since they have fast-paced hack-and-slash combat and don't have Kratos move like molasses. I really hate the combat speed in GOW 2018 and Ragnarok.
God of War was cool in 2005. Now, it's just cringe.
It matured and let you behind.
@@albertocruzado2899Woke is the most immature thing in the world.

I wanted to play that Harry Potter Quidditch game (which looks like it was designed for the PS2 console) that came out recently from WB games (2024)
They required you to sign up for a WB account.
I says, *_"Heeeelllll to the nah! To the nah, nah, nah!"_*
God of war ended with 3 and that is it just let it die already
That was such a long time ago, I still remember that old Penny Arcade comic where they were wondering where they'd take the series next now that Kratos killed all major greek gods.
GOW 3 is such a gem
i was fully expecting this to have kind of spin like the starfield/spiderman mods
Meanwhile Nexus is still home to a significant amount of CP mods.
IDK why people even want to play the slop of this new GOW, boring cinematic game will dull combat and full of SBI propaganda
I didn't even know you could mod that out! That's cool as hell
I had a feeling this would happen good job to the modder by the way
I miss the days when I could get mods from Nexus which would allow you to change the name of Redguards in Oblivion into [gamer word]
Meanwhile pirates about 5 hours after the game was released on PC:
Once again, Louis Rossmann was right about surfing the seven seas.
Who even uses nexus mods anymore
what are the alternatives ?
@@TrueVerdeth there's basedmods but practically its just for mods that get banned from nexusmods, nexus is sadly the nexus of mods still.

I'd say I'll never use Nexusmods again, but I'm a Fallout player, and almost all of the good Fallout mods can't be found anywhere else. But I can guarantee that I won't ever pay for Nexus premium, nor will I ever turn off my ad block while I'm on there.
I got a lifetime premium account. I demand Nexus give us premium account holders a say in this.
Sooooo uhhhhh, sail the seven seas?
Yes, but also no.
"I wouldn't even pirate it" speaks far more volume than sailing the seas.
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Yeah, sweet baby and inclusivity crap, no thanks, wouldn't even waste my SSD space or time on this trash.
If the game was worth pirating it would've been morally okay.
I pirated the game, and just so you now: I didn't have to login to the PSN.
It's an amazing game, like the first Norse one.
If you already paid for the game, just download the pirate version. If anyone complains, show them your paid receipt.
Nexus mods are controlled opposition hired by these corporate companies
There is another reason why playstation cares, which is that I think ultimately all big game companies want to become Steam, or pry a piece of the audience away from steam.
They want people opening THEIR game hubs to start games and buy games, they want people to visit their stores - or even buy directly and go around steam entirely.
They're even willing to take some pretty big losses if they can habituate people to opening their apps instead of steam.
Just seen on twitter, that it may have been the mod's author that removed it. So it may have been the author who could've been approached by legal groups or something. Nexus is still bad for it's politics but, this may not be on them.
