There's something obvious here we all care about and feel sad for in this episode.
But I think I'm going to miss the Paultin-Simon relationship forever. I can't forget how Simon helped to change Paultin/Nate since he appeared in the game.

I feel like at some point the Waffle Crew needs some positivity. None of the arcs really ended on a positive note, only set up for future suffering. It doesn't have to be a happy ending, but at least some sense of fulfillment would be nice. I don't know. I'm sad. I'm curious to see where we go next.

Since copyright is a bitch... Why not have some of Nathan's songs on a playlist for whenever Paultin wants to perform? I mean Nathan is his own record label so no copyright issues right? Right?! I can just imagine Paultin walking up to Simon's broken body, taking out the mandolin and then belting out "Heroes Never Die" while shredding on his mandolin and its great. Also it'd be very Paultin.

Diath has looted crossbows on not one, but two occasions. I don't know what he did with them, but they would have come in handy so often it's not funny.

You know, the ending was super sad and powerful, but I mainly associate this episode with Chris Perkin's hilarious Pinnoccio voice.
I assume that Chris and Anna had a couple of talks about what to do with Evelyn after this session and Anna probably wanted to keep playing her, but I think it would have been a wonderful ending for the character.
"Evelyn smiles." seems like a perfect send-off. Not many DnD characters live to see such an end.

This is what happens when you forget to heal your tank before going into a spooky tunnel and surprise fight a CR 11 Aberration that has telepathy, invisibility, can see magical auras and teleportation (and you don't omit everyone in the party, including yourself, from a 5th level Fireball spell). BAD THINGS! VERY BAD THINGS!

Alright, so....
I think that Evelyn will remain dead unless Lathander is just gonna save her again (he might) but I think it'd make sense for the party to need to get her resurrected -- something I think they'd certainly pursue.
The tough part is deciding what Anna will do while the others are trying to save her. Play her ghost, tagging along (just out of sight from the others?); or take on the role of another PC temporarily tagging along to also help intro the next big focus (Strahd again?); or since Perkins likes to mix things up she might play a _thing_ or an _animal_ tagging along, or maybe half-possess Paultin (since he apparently is prone to that sort of thing, remember?).
Her playing as a ghost "haunting" her pals would be the most interesting, but would also be the most mechanically messy and problematic given the way the D&D rules work. The party would be reduced to just three, making Chris have to balance for just three players but be prepared in case they are able to bring Evelyn back earlier than he expected... or he allows Evelyn's Paladin magic to still affect physical stuff, but does that offset the difference enough and might it be too good to have an "invincible" healer?
I want Evelyn to come back, but not so easily. Otherwise the Waffle Crew really has no reason to fear death since coming back from it is basically a given.
I wish Simon's voice was less goofy, but "out standing in its field" is hilarious. I'm gonna keep that.
I hope Chris has collected jokes from the audience and will volunteer them regularly (but not constantly.)

They all looked so torn at some point in the episode and that's how you know the episode is good! I almost cried. This was literally such a dramatic episode. I doubt Evelyn is dead, if she is then I'm gonna fall apart because Paultin is gonna go back into his little shell more so than he already is! I wonder if she will be human again if she comes back or go back to her robo self primarily because as a ghost she was her human self, so maybe her body isn't entirely lost? That'd be interesting. Though if Evelyn is dead then I hope she is able to come and say goodbye to the group as the little star. And don't even get me started on Simon dying, that hit me hard.

Well I mean, death has a huge meaning in DnD and it shouldn't be wasted unless they find a good and viable way to resurrect her. Since the death curse has been lifted then the only way they could bring her back is through a True Resurrection spell. Considering how she went out, it definitely was a powerful and symbolic moment. Ultimately, it's up to the player and DM, I'd be fine either honestly.

But you know Chris Perkins he could be playing everyone and be like sike she's not dead. So we will just have to see. Chris could bring her back another way where the players don't have to bring her back themselves or he could play it off that Lathander brought her back or whatever. Honestly there are a wide range of possibilities.

All those party members suffering from the death curse, and the that isn't inflicted is the one that dies
A couple people were throwing shade for Strix casting fire ball in the tunnel. I double checked fire ball ,and by the by the book it wouldn't have had the backlash. In some earlier editions fireball filled a volume, but in 5e its a 20 foot radius. Strix had to misty step to get within visual range, and then she could just make out Evelyn's glowing sword. So for a Tifling with darkvision, that's over 60 feet way, and the party was even farther so a spell with a twenty foot radius effect it shouldn't have hit them, and Evelyn was protected by the careful casting, so you can't put that on Strix either..
I just realized that all of the old adventures Chris wrote for the "dungeon" magazine are still available for free online. For example "Horrors Harvest" is in the Ravenloft setting, a marvelous adventure inspired by Lovecrafts "Colour out of space". There also is "Umbra", which is placed in Sigil! I really recommand his old stuff, it is brilliantly written. Maybe that could be interesting for dice camera action fans!

I mean.. paultin is 90% drunk at any given moment.. im not even sure paultin would remember he's vistani, yet alone be able to use evil eye on the correct person as you have to look at them.. and he's usually seeing three of everything on a "good day". Lol. ×D

At first when the old woman with the Lathander symbol escorting the boy was spotted by Evelyn, I thought she was seeing herself when she died back in Barovia when she was with that dead boy in the mist..

Wait shouldn't them being in another realm of existence away from the Soulmonger have prevented them from being drawn into it? Like by being in Barovia and/or Shadowfell (or any other plane for that matter) stall the Death Curse. Which would make for an interesting event as the resurrected flee the prime material plane to avoid their fate. Considering that those with access to resurrection magic would have access to interplanar travel.
To quote the adventure: "Traveling to another world or plane does nothing to halt the wasting effect once it has begun." So if you're feeling the effect of the curse you're stuck with it until you die or the curse ends. Edit: The wasting effects includes sucking you into the Soulmonger when you die.
Nope. Fleeing your plane of existence doesn't stop your curse. The soulmonger consumes all.
Yes, but this is Barovia/The Shadowfell, in which the Dark Powers reside. Every single time you die in this realm, your spirit gets cut off from the afterlife, almost like it's intercepted.
Unless the Soulmonger can interrupt something else that's already interrupting your spirit. Which it might be able to...but then how come Diath didn't get sucked into the Soulmonger when he died back towards the end of season 2?

It was used in a compressed space so it probably would function somewhat like a cannon. It would all be forced out somehow.
It was just because the chimney was so tight and narrow that the flames were compressed.
