  • The Whistlin' Donkeys are back with a new volume of The Forge Sessions folks!
It’s been three whole years since we first recorded and released a few songs from The Forge in Dromore, so we thought it was about time to head back and do another session. Thank you to Mary once again for having us.
This is our cover of The Dubliners classic folk ballad, "Rare Oul Times".
    Enjoy.
Session recorded and mixed by Daryl Harkin.

This is the best version of 'Rare Oul' Times' ever!
So many others have sung this wonderful song too weak or too loud. This is a song that must be sung with strength and feeling for Dublin, and the Whistlin' Donkeys got it right, right here, thank God.

That's a bit much when you've got Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly versions but this is the best I've heard by a younger singer in a very long time

Completey agree most of it songs of true stories I grew up watch the troubles as a kid and as an adult I've read many a book of the history of Ireland stemming back to Henry 8th so there is a lot to answer for but from history we've got some incredible songs the donkeys hit the ball out the park singing Grace which was written in 70s I think but true a beautiful song thats almost a national anthem but the donkeys do it great credit

Went to Ireland this year and sat in many a pub listening to beautiful Irish music that was so moving. Just came across the Whistlin' Donkeys and it takes me back. Amazing vocals and music that you feel. Their version of Grace, Sweet 16 and Isle of Tears jsut to name a few is hands down the best version I've ever heard. This music always brings me peace on a stressful day. Seeing Whistlin' Donkeys in concert is on my bucketlist. Fingers crossed it happens!
