This reply is for Jaelin. In India many people girls and boys start meditating from a very young age sometimes even 6 or 7 years old. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to practice meditation or japam with a mala. All you need is close your eyes , sit in a comfortable way and concentrate . Even if it is for 3 minutes it is good. You can practice any religion . It is just that you are concentration on something superior Best of luck
Thanks Frances, we're still making videos every week with Kat filming at home during quarantine. Looking forward to being back in the studio, but there's a lot of good videos coming up before then too. Glad to have you watching!
here's a tip for the guru bead: if you pull both threads through one hole it's easier to get one of the strings to the other side because you can push it straight through. this way you only have to get the curve once.
Great video! I've made several of my own malas, but have always started at the top of the mala working down to the tassel and tying off by hiding the knot within the tassel. I've always wanted to make a mala by starting with the tassel and working my way up, but never liked any of the other ways that I've seen by tying off the knot by adding slider beads or knots, as I prefer the cleaner look and feel at the top of my malas. I love this option to tie off by hiding the knot within the knotted bead design.

Thanks that's a good idea for a project, I'll add it to our suggestions. Hi I love this video and am trying to do it with slon 210 ( 0.5mm) however when it comes to small beads one has to use force to pull it through the bead. This ends up fraying the thread as I bead through. What is the risk of it breaking ? Also is there a trick to do this without fraying the thread. Any tip is appreciated.
Hi Swati, it sounds like you need a thick chord. S-lon is durable, so if it's lightly frayed in a few spots it should still be ok, but if it's fraying a lot that means the cord is too thick. There are other sizes of S-Lon on the market, the fine 135 cord is just a bit smaller at 0.4mm. I might also suggest silk thread, we have some lovely colors available in a 0.3mm size beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=Silk+%22Size+F%22&_=pf&pf_t_product_type=0-Product-Type%3ABeading%20Thread
Hello there thankyou I’m a complete beginner I’ve never done this before. I bought some waxed cotton 1mm thick and some 8mm beads 1mm hole but the thread won’t go through the hole unfortunately. I haven’t got any of those needles what ones do you recommend? Never seen those before. Any idea on what size mm thread and beads I should use aswell please. Sorry I’m a bit lost. Would love to offer Mala beads aswell as the rosaries I make. Thankyou kindly Carly xx😊
Hi Carly! You have a couple choices. You can find "large hole" beads to work with the 1mm thick cord or switch to a thinner thread. I would recommend S-Lon cord, size #18. Here is a link: beadaholique.com/collections/beading-cord-ribbon?_=pf&pf_v_brand=S-Lon and then the needles are twisted wire needles and here is a link beadaholique.com/products/the-beadsmith-beading-needles-medium-flexible-twisted. You can also try to make a glue needle by dipping the tip of the S-Lon in some white glue, smoothing it out, and letting it dry. This makes it stiffer so it will more easily go through beads. Beads, especially wood and gemstone, vary a lot in their whole size, so I would suggest picking your stringing material first and then finding the beads. I hope this helps!
@@beadaholique thankyou so very much. It’s so difficult when you first starting out with a project. I bought some tassels but they are very tiny and I can’t thread the cord through so I may have to rethink tassels aswell. I greatly appreciate your help I will be ok I think once I get all the right materials together. It’s just practice. Xxx

Also i've seen some made with elastic which can be worn as bracelet or necklace, can you for make a video for that please. Thank you so much and thank you for sharing :)
I posted a question, and apparently my comment was deleted. I simply asked if I should double knot between beads, because many of the beads have larger holes, and they slide right over the knot. I purchased all 8mm beads from Beadaholique, some gemstone, some wood. Or, perhaps a thicker cord other than the S-Lon that is listed (though I already purchased 4 rolls of this). I appreciate the video, just seeking a solution. Thank U!
