    I'm finishing up one of my Malas and I used double thread so there are 4 strands of thread hanging from the bottom of the focal bead. I want to put a tassel at the bottom so my question is do they have large sized bead tips and is there an effective way for me to end the 4 strands aside from burning because they are made of silk? Thank you! I enjoyed your tutorial!

      There are large size bead tips with large holes, OR you can put them into an end crimp! End crimps are great to finish multiple threads!! Lmk if you need any and we can send you out some. Aloha! Jamie

    I wish you had started from the beginning. I don't know the size of the thread, information about the beads and spacers or much else other than finishing the end. You have a good attitude and a strong voice, I just wish there were more.

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Becky! We choose the size of nylon based on the bead hole size, so that can be any where from a size #4 - size #10. Because every bead has a different hole size, we always go with the thread that fits the smallest bead hole in the mala! If you need help making one or picking beads, email me!! info@thebeadgallery.com We have a full service bead store for 21 years, and can hook you up :) . aloha! jamie

    I noticed a lot of malas use Silk thread. Is nylon stronger? Have you ever tried Spiderwire? It's a fishing line that's supposedly made out of "the world's strongest fiber". Thanks for the video. Will hopefully be finishing my rudraksha mala in the next few days if i can find a guru bead i love.

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! You have to use a cord that fits inside the bead, without it being too tight, where it may drag against the bead holes and wear the string down quickly. Good luck! Aloha!

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! I'm so sorry, I don't know any bead shops or vendors in the UK, however, I CAN tell you that bead tips come in different sizes and we have one with a smaller hole and one with a larger hole. You can also try a CLAMSHELL, cause those tend to have larger holes. Lastly, you can consider skipping the bead tip and just do an over hand knot with both threads to end. Sometimes for a more organic feel, I just knot things and don't use metal findings :) Email me a pic of what your are doing, and if I have suggestions I"ll you know! Aloha!! What type AND size of beads do you use for this type of tassel necklace? 108 beads seem like it would be heavy? I love it! DMW from Chattanooga, TN

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  7 лет назад

      Hi Debbie: We like to use 6mm or 8mm beads, and if you use wood, it's definitely not heavy. Unless you use ironwood, which tends to be heavier than all the other beads we carry.. Let me know if you need wood beads - we have a really great seleciton!! Aloha! Jamie

    Which nylon thread do you recommend we get?

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  7 лет назад +5

      Selen Bayrak I love the carded griffin brand with needle. Comes in 9 sizes and about 20 colors, inexpensive and strong! We use the thickest one that fits the bead holes! Lmk if you need a recommendation or to mail you some!

    What size of nylon cord did you use please?

    • @thebeadgallery
      @thebeadgallery  6 лет назад +1

      Aloha! For your mala to be the strongest, use whatever LARGEST size nylon cord fits the beads. When we use wood beads, we find that size 8 - 10 fits nicely (but you may have to drill out any gems that have smaller holes. OR you can use a thinner cord that fits your smallest hole bead, but it may not be the strongest and most lasting.
