So happy we can making beading even easier for you! It's hard enough to make "free" time nowadays with the busy-ness of life, it's wonderful to be able to feel successful and creative :) Aloha! Jamie
I wish you had started from the beginning. I don't know the size of the thread, information about the beads and spacers or much else other than finishing the end. You have a good attitude and a strong voice, I just wish there were more.
Hi Becky! We choose the size of nylon based on the bead hole size, so that can be any where from a size #4 - size #10. Because every bead has a different hole size, we always go with the thread that fits the smallest bead hole in the mala! If you need help making one or picking beads, email me!! info@thebeadgallery.com We have a full service bead store for 21 years, and can hook you up :) . aloha! jamie
Aloha! Thanks for the inquiry!! 🫶🏼 We have a lot of product on our website thebeadgallery.com and a LOT more in-store! If you need assistance after taking a look, please email us at request@thebeadgallery.com and we will help you out!! Looking forward to meeting you!! :). aloha, jamie
I'm finishing up one of my Malas and I used double thread so there are 4 strands of thread hanging from the bottom of the focal bead. I want to put a tassel at the bottom so my question is do they have large sized bead tips and is there an effective way for me to end the 4 strands aside from burning because they are made of silk? Thank you! I enjoyed your tutorial!
There are large size bead tips with large holes, OR you can put them into an end crimp! End crimps are great to finish multiple threads!! Lmk if you need any and we can send you out some. Aloha! Jamie
Hello in this video you are wearing a beautiful bracelet...what stones are those.....please? Can you please mae a tutorial on how to make that one ??? I LOVE IT !
Hi! You have to use a cord that fits inside the bead, without it being too tight, where it may drag against the bead holes and wear the string down quickly. Good luck! Aloha!
I noticed a lot of malas use Silk thread. Is nylon stronger? Have you ever tried Spiderwire? It's a fishing line that's supposedly made out of "the world's strongest fiber". Thanks for the video. Will hopefully be finishing my rudraksha mala in the next few days if i can find a guru bead i love.
We've seen it done both ways. Do it the way your heart leads you, and use it accordingly with your prayers, mantras and beliefs :) In the end, you know you best and what it means!!
Hi Renee!! We have multiple sizes of nylon cords and bead tips on our website: thebeadgallery.com andI will also link to them. Thanks for your follow up!! Much aloha!! Jamie
Hi What size of thread did you use and the name of the brand of thread ? Thanking you Can't get the PDF to work to see the instructions and material bead sizes needed? Thanking you Patricia
In this video we used griffin nylon #8. We recommend that you test your bead holes and use the thickest thread that will fit through them. Thank you so much for watching!
Hi! I'm so sorry, I don't know any bead shops or vendors in the UK, however, I CAN tell you that bead tips come in different sizes and we have one with a smaller hole and one with a larger hole. You can also try a CLAMSHELL, cause those tend to have larger holes. Lastly, you can consider skipping the bead tip and just do an over hand knot with both threads to end. Sometimes for a more organic feel, I just knot things and don't use metal findings :) Email me a pic of what your are doing, and if I have suggestions I"ll you know! Aloha!! Jamie info@thebeadgallery.com
Aloha! For your mala to be the strongest, use whatever LARGEST size nylon cord fits the beads. When we use wood beads, we find that size 8 - 10 fits nicely (but you may have to drill out any gems that have smaller holes. OR you can use a thinner cord that fits your smallest hole bead, but it may not be the strongest and most lasting.
Selen Bayrak I love the carded griffin brand with needle. Comes in 9 sizes and about 20 colors, inexpensive and strong! We use the thickest one that fits the bead holes! Lmk if you need a recommendation or to mail you some!
Hi Debbie: We like to use 6mm or 8mm beads, and if you use wood, it's definitely not heavy. Unless you use ironwood, which tends to be heavier than all the other beads we carry.. Let me know if you need wood beads - we have a really great seleciton!! Aloha! Jamie
Aloha! Those are mag-eyes and we sell them in the store. I use the 1.6 for magnification and it's perfect for the distance between my eyes, the beads and still be able to look over the lens and watch tv. :). Contact us at info@thebeadgallery.com if we can help you further or ship you one!
Hi! You can use beading wire, and just know that the drape won't be as soft as using a nylon cord. Good luck - it will be beautiful no matter what :) aloha!
Such an enjoyable vid thanks, Jamie (sp?) I'm wondering, from where do you get your tassels? And also, can you tell me where I can get really nice tassel thread online to make my own tassels that hangs beautifully? Thank you! :o)

I'm vegan. What kind and size of nylon do I use for 6mm mala or a 8mm mala?
Hi! You have to use a cord that fits inside the bead, without it being too tight, where it may drag against the bead holes and wear the string down quickly. Good luck! Aloha!
I'll have to try this. Love mala necklaces.

Hi! I've never tried spiderwire - please share if you have!! aloha!
When you say 108 beads, does that include the spacer beads and the focal bead or is it just the larger round beads?
Thanks!
We've seen it done both ways. Do it the way your heart leads you, and use it accordingly with your prayers, mantras and beliefs :) In the end, you know you best and what it means!!

What type AND size of beads do you use for this type of tassel necklace? 108 beads seem like it would be heavy? I love it! DMW from Chattanooga, TN
Hi Debbie: We like to use 6mm or 8mm beads, and if you use wood, it's definitely not heavy. Unless you use ironwood, which tends to be heavier than all the other beads we carry.. Let me know if you need wood beads - we have a really great seleciton!! Aloha! Jamie
What's that "glasses" you wearing over your head? What's that called?
Aloha! Those are mag-eyes and we sell them in the store. I use the 1.6 for magnification and it's perfect for the distance between my eyes, the beads and still be able to look over the lens and watch tv. :). Contact us at info@thebeadgallery.com if we can help you further or ship you one!
You have used some small seed beads , what beads are they please? Thanks
Aloha! We like to use size 8/0 as they have a nice hole size and are easy to string! Good luck!
Hi
It is 108 plus guru bead?
Thank you
Aloha
I'm pretty sure that would be correct since it's a mala. :o)
Love your work. Do you also sell supplies?
Could I use beading wire for this project? (You know, the flexible 'many-strand' kind?). TY
Thank you! :o)
