    *I STILL USE A DROPPED SEAM* of about 1 1/2 to 2" - not only is it invisible but it means the cloth is cut on the bias so there is a lot more give in the seam, you can reach forward more easily.
    I tailor historical suits from old pattern books from the 1890's to 1930's. I also put 3/4" "ease" into the back of the shoulder seam to allow even more ease of movement.
