To be real and honest, if any girl gets jealous that another girl likes her male friend then comes out to tell him she likes him later, that's equivalent to an animal claiming territory. You had chances to tell him you like him prior to jealousy. I wouldn't say it's not genuine affection, but I'm critical of it. When I was in middle school, someone once told me they kinda liked me. I only talked to that individual and nothing beyond. So, I brushed it off because it sounded that the person was on the fence. I don't deal with that stuff.

Story Idea:
An adult woman (FMC) receives a wedding invitation from her childhood friend and her first love(MMC) who she hasn’t heard from since high school. The reason why they cut contact was that she was a tsundere that teased yet loved him, but he finally had enough and stopped talking to her. She tried to talk to him but he always ignored her like she didn’t exist. He then left to a university far from her and now she learns that he’s getting married. After the wedding, she goes home heartbroken that because of her attitude she lost her first love. When she falls asleep she wakes up the next day, back in her high school days, before he cut contact with her. Taking an advantage of this event she vows to change her attitude to become a better person and to not lose her first love again.
I think there's a story like this one, but in that story the FMC and MC travel back in time together.

Not gonna lie that was a nice way to subvert expectations.
The way MC's friend was acting like a tsundere at the beginning when the new girl arrived, but then when she wanted to ask MC out, she didn't act high and mighty, or try to hide the fact that she was asking him our, she made it perfectly clear to MC that she wanted to go out on a date with him.
