In this video, we will learn how to model a member as tension only and compression-only member in ETABS. This becomes very important while modeling unreinforced brick infill or in any other relevant case.

thanks mate, this was really helpful!
helped me a lot. TNX
You're welcome!
great work
Thanks!
What is the ETAB command for STAAD INACTIVE MEMBERS?
Can you explain how to model equal diagonal strut in ETABS?
Please watch this video for more information.

If I have 5 combinations of load, should I convert those combination to Non-Linear?
Which type of analysis are you trying to perform?
I get instability error after assinging tension only elements. Any idea why?
Check, does including this tension element make your structure instable in any way?
I USE ETABS 2017 IN LINERA STATIC CASE BRACING SHOW ONLY TENSION FORCE ?? NO NEED TO NON LINEAR WHY ???
You can do nonlinear analysis for a more accurate response.
then after that how to do the design??
i dont know why, i keep getting error messages
Which element are you trying to design?
Hello sir, How do I know which tension or compression member should be assigned to the struts?
It depends on the direction of loading.
@@CivilSAC Sir how do we know in which direction the load is coming?
If we don't know in which direction the load is coming, can we consider compression to both the members?
@@CivilSoftwareTutorials, In pushover analysis the loading pattern is defined earlier so you know the direction of loading but in dynamic time history analysis, it is difficult, So for time history analysis, you should assign two struts with zero tension capacity. For information regarding loading patterns in pushover analysis you see watch this video -ruclips.net/video/j6f361r79ls/видео.html
@@CivilSoftwareTutorials, Yes you have to consider both the structs as compression members.
