How to FIX PS4 USB File System is not Supported (Including External Hard Drives)

- In this video, I'm going to show you how to fix usb sticks, including HDD external hard drives saying usb storage device's file system is unsupported. Also, I will show you how to fix the usb storage device is not connected (Ce - 37857-0) error when copying video clips or pictures from the PS4 capture gallery. The reason this is happening is because the PS4 does not support the NTFS file system format. You will need to format your USB device to FAT 32 or EXfat. If you use FAT32 you will have a 4GB file size restriction, so if you are using an external hard drive make sure you format your drive as EXfat. ...

I decided to record some games on my PS4 instead of playing on my PC and I had a difficult time acquiring the footage on the console. Using an external hard drive and your instructions, I was able to retrieve those clips. You're a life saver...

Mine doesn’t give me a option to change it to neither only on NTFS
One more thing that it may be is that if you have an external HD that you were using, and it had a password on it, or like for me the WD Unlocker, you gotta take that whole situation off or the system'll say it's an unsupported file format. For at least WD use the software they provide: WD Discovery...then use the security part of the menu options to remove password. Even when you format the drive, it doesn't wipe that off. I hope this can help someone who's having this specific problem. I wasn't able to find it in any of the videos I found when I was stuck. Thanks for this video too, it was also really helpful.

I can't find it in my computer. And when I plug it into my ps4 it lights up but doesn't detect. Then the times it does detect it loses connection but it's wired.

Any idea why only some of my videos are playable once I plug my USB into my laptop? Some videos just flat out won’t play or they only play for a few mins before stopping. I’ve always done the “safe ejecting” my USB from my PS4 instead of yanking it out, yet nothing works. However, some videos will play in their entirety. Any help would be much appreciated!

You can go to settings -> Devices -> USB Storage Device and you'll see the unrecognised device and then press the options button to format the drive as exFAT.
Plus it'll tell you this if you try reinstall the system software in safe mode with a USB stick that contains an incompatible file system.

Okay, so you will see an option to format as extended storage. To do this you will need a 250 GB drive or more... but if you hit options, it will provide you a way to format your USB stick as exFAT. This is great!

So I bought a 1TB external storage device about 2 months ago, it formatted by itself, And I saved everything on there. Yesterday, I log in and it says the usb isn’t connected when it was. The light was on, the cord was plugged in, and my system didn’t even recognize it. I tried going to devices and it said it wasn’t connected. Do I have to go through this process in order to get my hardrive working again?

@@f7msm294 Connect it to a computer first and open disk management to see if the system can atleast see a drive is connected but isn't mounted.
Then listen for any unusual noises coming from the drive like clicking, grinding, beeping etc. If you hear any of those sounds, I'm sorry but your hard drive has gone toast.
@@jackbriant1244 I have the same issue . I properly disconnected from the ps4 and now it says not recognized. I plugged it into a PC and it shows it as a USB drive by name but no files with tells me it it is formatted for the Ps4. Please help.

Do you have a tutorial if the ps4 does not boot up. I then go to safe mode follow the reinstallation process download from the ps4, format USB to fat32 got the route folders named correct. Now I place that USB into the ps4 and it still says USB unrecognizable

Will this delete the save data that i have i used to have games data stored on my extended storage and the games doesnt work anymore and the data was moved to the system data but i cant copy it
Reformatting a usb/sd card will make the usb/sd card lose all of it's data, so be sure to copy it to your computer downloads, than copy the data back onto the reformatted usb/sd card
