- Do you want to know how to save GAME DATA onto a USB drive? In this easy PS4 Tutorial, I will show you how to copy saved data onto a USB stick. Transferring the data is very easy. Plug the USB stick into the Playstation 4. Then go to settings, applications saved data management. Under here you can select saved data and system storage.
Here you can copy you over data to you USB STICK. However, the game data will still remain on your PS4, so if you want to delete the data you will need to go to STORAGE and select game data and delete everything manually. ...

Thank you, this helped a lot, I used to play on my cousins ps4 and I got one for Christmas and all of my saved stuff was ok his. Now after nearly a year I can finally get my stuff back
So I played battle front 2 to on one account
Now I have it on another bjt on the same playstation, can is transfer the data that way to the other account

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know. Too bad I didn't do it before my ps4 crashed and I had to do a hard reset, but I learned from the experience and will now make backups of my saves regularly.

I wish I could use a USB stick like a memory card and use it on a different console in a different room. It was that simple.
It's important to note, that this type of transfer between two PS4's apparently only works, if both of them use the same PSN account, because the savegames are encrypted with the account.
This is what confuses me. I tried the same method but how do I get my friends data saved to my system? I did it with a flash drive and it didn’t work
@@easye2cool4U It probably won't work. When your PS4 creates a save game, it encrypts it, with you PSN account being the decryption key. If you try to copy it to a PS4, that is using another PSN account, this device won't be able to decrypt and use the save game, so the UI won't even show you the save game on the stick.

When you have 1TB of storage space those few GB of saved data isn't really a problem. The basic reason that you want to do that is for unlocking different endings in games that have an auto-save system, so thay you don't have to replay the whole game until the point of some crucial decision. I'm describing Sekiro if you haven't figured it yet. :)

I do of course appreciate you showing me how to navigate the menu into saving and copying because my ps4's HDMI is broken and my brother is being really nice and allowing me to use his ps4 so now I had to transfer the save data using a usb but since I couldn't do that whilst seeing the menu I had to manually/blindly transfer this data so thank's again for that.

the file size on game save files is so minimal its seemingly pointless to do this in order to make room on your system. I feel like this is mainly useful for making sure if anything happens to your console you'll still have your game save files. or if you want to bring your save files to a friends console and play over there. Just FYI: If your Playstation still doesn't recognize your flash drive, note that it only recognizes exFAT or FAT32 formatting. I had mine set to NTFS for Xbox recording, and had this problem.
"For some reason, it doesn't do it automatically." This is a very good thing, otherwise if the copy fails you just lose all your data.

Save data and games data storage work separately, you could only choose one. You cant keep both save and games file on one single external usb

Yeah, it super easy. Put your USB STICK in your PS4. Go to capture gallery. Press option on the screen shot you want and go to copy to USB device.

Some things are not clear from this tutorial.
1. Does copying to USB remove the game save data from System Storage?
2. Does copying back from USB overwrite the data in System Storage? For example, I copy to USB and take it to my friends house. I play there and save my progress. I bring the USB home and copy it back to System Storage. Does the PS4 overwrite the same game save in system storage or simple copy a duplicate game save? Could I have duplicates of the same game save accidentally?
3. Suppose I have game save data from a game that is no longer installed. Does it just copy the data over or is it intelligent enough to realize that game isn't even installed?
I had my PS4 for almost 4 years and it completely crashed to where I had to send it in to have it fixed. When I got it back, they had to wipe everything clean and I didn't know I was going to lose all my saved games...
Finally did some research and now doing it right the second time. Luckily, I only had one game I was worried about that I have to start over from, but not a big deal...
