@@cesteres *Oleksii Novikov busts the door open*, fellas, this is the golden age of strongman we are witnessing. So many great athletes. You can be a fan of every single one of them, because they are all friends no matter the nationality.
Yeah it seems like all of the major strongman competitors are happy to work together, as they're able to share tips, strategies and whatnot that allows all of them to get better and stronger. Not to mention guys like these don't have many people who can truly keep up with them in the gym, and having a partner who can push you is very valuable, no matter what kind of training you're doing. It's like how way back in the day, a lot of the classic bodybuilders trained in the same gym all the time. Even though they were each others' competition, they were still helping each other out so that everyone gets better. It's one of the least toxic competitive athletic scenes, because the competition, while fierce and definitely serious, tends to still be friendly in a certain way.

True, there is around 10 elite Strongmans and it's hard to find someone to push you in training.I think this is great for Martins to get back in shape, after nerve problems.

Both in their own way are the future of strength. Thor has the brute force and Martins has the mobility/flexibility.
And Martins has a level technique that can't be beat, makes everything he does more efficient
It's like two schools of strongman... Thors is focused on pure strength and increasing power, while Martins focuses on mobility and perfecting technique
Thor is mobile in his hips and hamstrings. I dont think he ever has low back tweaks and its partially due to his flexibility.
fmakofmako yeah thor has actually decent mobility, a lot better than most strongman, but Martins stills has the best technique and mobility

Metal_Reks_You Exactly! What good is it for them to not be friends or training partners? It makes you work harder idc who you are train alone and then with someone who is on your level in any sport and you will work harder it’s human nature to compete
@@TheFightInsideTheFighter I can't agree more man! They are both athletes in a sport which is mainly done against yourself and your own abilty to move your body/the weight. They pumping each other up is only bad news for the other competitiors, not themselves

At the beginning of the training series Thor was struggling to press the Cyr DB with his weaker arm, could barely hold it and was shy from lock out most of the time. Now he is doing the 100kg DB with both arms, perfect form like its nothing. The progress is outstanding!

@Mike Hunt Eddie hall* and yes, he did deadlift 100kg. He also deadlifted 500kg. Although, I am more than certain, that Hafthor definitely can do that very deadlift. Eddie went almost a bit too far. His strongman record is- compared to top athletes in strongman like Brian Shaw, honestly far from up there. He trained for records and then retired. But, he achieved his goal- and there's much glory in that.

Bob John idk about back then but Ik like rn in a recent vid he did 495 for like 5 reps so I’d imagine close to 600, and that’s like 8-10 stones lighter than he was at his prime

im 53 and have bad back and hip n knees but you fire me up with using ssb that I try this and no pain as well as hexi bar three months in now gaining strength every week loving it thanks for inspiration hafthor your very good at firing up the guys

I remember the first time I ever saw martins was the 2015 iceland's strongest man where he surprised a LOT of people. I wonder if Thor ever thought they'd be freinds and at the level they are now.
Not sure if it was iceland's strongest man or a SCL thing, but I remember seeing him and he almost died in a random hike he took the day before the contest lol

I hope martins continues a lot of dumbell pressing when he returns home. It would really help with his nerve damage strength discrepancy and really round out his game. His pressing strength is not his strong point. Great collab guys

Титус Манович Thor and Shaw are the two strongest for sure but they give up so much mobility speed and stamina that the events at WSM allow others to hang in with them in points. I love it but like the winner of WSM is rarely the strongest imo
