  • The tires on The Grim Ripper were leaking like a bastard so I figured I would show you one way to break the bead on small tires and bore you a bit while I apply this goop I bought.
I was going to buy some inner tubes and be done with it but this should do the trick, and it's cheaper than a pair of 'cheap' inner tubes and still cheaper than the price of one 'good' inner tube.

Thanks for spending the time explaining and showing the bead seal; this was good and I will be doing exactly what you showed. Also thanks for the trick to dislodge the tire from the rim!

Thanks for the info on the bead sealer. If you live a long way from the store like I do and don't have any, a can of spray paint works good for me.

I should have used bead sealer when my tractor mower tire had bead sealing issues. At the time I didn't know about the sealer, so I wound up putting a tube in the tire. I also have seen some people use that Flex Seal liquid or spray as a bead sealer.

Good stuff Bud!! You shouldn't have any problems showing brand names on The RUclips TV!!☺

+805ROADKING Thanks Ev, that stuff is well worth the price.
Every time I show a product name, the Google Nazis freak out on me with commercial rights use and B.S. and de-monetize my video. They even hit me with commercial rights use for a video I did that didn't show ANY brand names, no music, no nothing, yet I have to fight them to re-monetize it. I hate what Google has done to channels like mine in favour of the professional RUclipsr.

Works pretty good but make sure you do a nice sanding/smoothing and make sure the bead is nice and clean. I kinda rushed mine, still leaks a bit but they hold for a weeks or more now rather than overnight so that's good enough for the girls I date.

yeah i sanded all around it...cleaned it good...brushed it on both sides plus on the tire too...stuff works good...still holding air

I bought a can of bead sealer at O'Reilly's Auto parts.... a 32 oz can for 12.99.... they had to get it out of the back room because normally they only sell it to their commercial accounts.... It was not on display in the store you had to ask for it

I know it's frustrating. We bought a new Craftsman Pro Series mower and have a slow leak in one of the front tires. I used a $1 spray bottle from the dollar store with some dish soap and water mixed together. Then spray the entire tire, rim, valve stem to determine the location of the leak (bubbling area). It'll usually be where the rim/tire meet, but sometime the valve core or stem may be bad. Then, just use some rim sealant to stop the leak if the bubbles are coming from the tire/rim junction.

Nice! How did you know it was leaking out the bead?

That's what I thought. My Yukons leak is so slow that process isnt working.

+AssGrabber B Also check the valve itself. I myself would never do it... but *some* people put a bit of spit on the valve to check for leaks ;) Easy no tools check. And replacing a value is a super cheap fix.
Otherwise, you might have a leak in the tire itself. This requires a submersion of the tire and might be better left to a pro but if you have a wading pool or something.
Another hint that is not recommended and you shouldn't do is that sometimes overinflating the tire a bit brings out the leaks faster. Remember to bring them back down to pressure.

Thanks. Always looking for something big enough to submerge it in.
