    This is one of the best short (street) fighting educational videos I have ever seen! This should be shown bouncers, policemen, security guards all around the world.
    The bad side of many valid martial arts is that they mainly prepare you to fight in structured conditions (sports). The situation is different in the streets. This is something many mt, kickboxing and jiujitsu trainers don't realize.

    And thats the difference between fightsport and a real fight skill.
    Great skill you are explosive as hell, explosive strenghth is king.
    Maybe on option ( there are a lot ) is to press the foot in the backside of the knee ( knieholte) the knee goes down to the concrete and can destroy his kneecap.
    And he is helpless. Never done that in real but maybe its an option ?.
    Good show and lessons dude .

    Question should you use maiming in a "normal" fight? Because you are also escalation the threat level. It turns into a life and death fight. I would only "maim" if the other person showed intent to do major harm. Example knife or going for the eyes or acting crazy but maybe that is just me.

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  3 года назад +3

      Consider the context…true self protection based. If I could escape and de-escalate I would. I don’t fight for ego too. So you are left now with somebody who victim selected you. Probably way stronger than you. Also like I explain in the beginning of the video..it’s also for people that cannot generate enough impact..so the threat disparity is high. In that case you have to give your level 10 (in this case maybe the use of maiming) to protect yourself. If somebody is attacking you, you should already understand that that’s showing intent to do major harm. People die on the street on purpose or by accident. Especially if the one who starts the fight is much stronger than you.

      @@schoolofselfprotection Perhaps I am being harsh. You are teaching self defense in a street situation. I am judging it with a combat sport mindset (muay tai). They are very different situations. In combat sport you are matched with relatively equal opponents who are bound by rules. The type of attack or defense you are teaching would never be used. In the street you may just have some big drunk thug untrained in combat. A surprise power attack may just be enough to give you an escape.

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  3 года назад +5

      That is the difference that makes the difference! Combat sport is great! But not real violence..what happens the first 10 seconds in a match/sport fight?? Not much..they “feel” each other right? What happens the first 10 seconds in a real fight? Everything! It’s already done! Different dynamic. Real violence (like in prison for example) is a 1 sided event. Me, me more of me finished. Happy to see you understand that difference..peace 🙏🏻

    • @Yus1409
      @Yus1409 3 года назад +1

      @@schoolofselfprotection I agree and understand, though there is more too it. The reason there is waiting around in combat sport fight is that there is an understanding that your opponent is skilled. They know how to counter. It is the gaps you leave open during an attack that leave you vulnerable to real damage. On the other hand, you get so used to fighting that way that you can be overwhelmed by an untrained fighter and lose. You don't expect the raw and savage attack. You panic, freeze and get battered. Or, you forget your training and start brawling mindlessly yourself.
      In my gym we are taught combat for sport, but we also, now and again learn defence in a street situation. For instance a few weeks ago, we were told to spar hard. We were told that one of us should just brawl like a street fighter and come out swinging and flying at our opponent. The other had to keep his calm, keep his guard up and absorb the attack for a while, whilst waiting for that one gap that allowed for a fight finishing strike or two. The one being the street brawler wore body pads. We took it in turns. I got a broken rib when I was being the mindless street brawler. My partner kicked too high and missed the pads. Still, it shows that if you are used to it and learn how to compose yourself, you can very effectively use purely combat sport techniques to annihilate a rough street fight attack.

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  3 года назад +5

      @@Yus1409 depends..if you can keep your head cool under real fight stress and adrenaline! I saw pro fighter fail on the street! Understand that you fight like you train! When I worked the doors I saw a individual searching for an armbar. And got kicked in the head from behind. If you don’t train for multiples and weapons you are not training for reality. Look at Conor and khabib. 2 best fighters in the world. But after the match fight emotion kicks in..and everybody starts hitting everybody in the audience. Even Conor start to brawl..and gets punched from the side because of tunnelvision.. yes elements of combat sport are useful. I did and do combat sport. But you have to adapt. That said..if I have a combat athlete and he can keep his head cool..and knows good tactics we teach you..combined with a good predatory mindset you have now a force to be reckoned with!

      The source of this concept can be traced back to old Filipono / Indonesian martial arts, such as Kune Mutai and Penchack Silat. This is where it comes from, then several modern day combative schools found it useful and used it. It's a powerful tool and very applicable once you get the mechanics down.
