Try to do TM71 and TM 73. With Beo4 remote Test Mode: "Press SHIFT 90258 with no more then 2 sec. between the individual entering. The remote control has to be in (RADIO or) CD option. In Test Modes the tuner is fully functional and may overwrite the display but TM will continue. Select CD to view CD test modes." Regards
Dark Revelations try cleaning the two plastic sensors on the side next to cd 1 and cd6 near the edge of the unit. This light sensors need cleaning at times so that the unit knows not to move If your hand is disrupting the line between the two sensors. I also agree it’s important to run the test modes the person talked about below to recalibrate the cd positions. Also what laser did you put in? The vam 1250 has different variations. They look the same but they are different in some ways.

I agree if you don’t carry out tm71 and 73 the sledge won’t move
Did you remove the ESD safety short on the laser unit?
How do you fix the "Cleaning Required" problem, do you know please?
