Crazy dope. The SYSTEM 100M has been my dream synth for ages, since I first discovered that Front 242 used it on Geography (my favorite analog synth album ever made), Vince Clark on Speak and Spell and Upstairs at Eric's, and many others from that period. I'm sure the Behringer has it's character, but I don't see anyone else stepping up and releasing clones of the original. Props to Uli for making this happen. As I've said before, anyone who criticizes Behringer, needs to throw their Android/iPhone/iPad into the trash, along with most of their clothing, household appliances, etc. Etc.

Oh it has plenty of character. I think the modules sound great, even simple patches. They followed the original Roland schematics pretty closely for a lot of the circuitry. I have had a lot of the same influences musically as you and the sounds that you can make with these modules will take you back to that era. No regrets buying any of them.

    I know nothing about synths.
But I want it anyhow 🤣

thanks for the PDFs, useful for a newcomer like me to follow where everything is going. Good for learning and starter point for experiments.

They should create more modules for system, why stop where roland stopped?

It should be pointed out that as OP says, inputs #3 & #4 on the dual mixer/portamento can be used to generate offsets. What was not conveyed properly, however, is that one generates a negative offset as low as -10V, the other a positive one, as high as +10V.

The offset voltages are printed on the module.

in the EQ/Mixer 305 part you said Mixer input 1 is normaled to the EQ, does this mean I don't need a patch from EQ out to Mixer 1 in, because that is internally hardwired?
I am planning on getting a few modules to expand my semi modulars and the 305 is one very interesting candidate, unfortunately there is not much info about it yet, and I am still lacking some basic understanding. In other words: my question is not as stupid as I am lol

Yes. You can download the 305 quick start guide, it describes all its functions very well and could help to find out if it suits your needs. About the eq: MIXER INPUTS (1 / 2 / 3 / 4) - Use these jacks to route audio signals into the OUTPUT MIXER section via cables with 3.5 mm connectors. Channel 1 includes a pre-wired, normalled connection from the parametric EQ section, so the PARAMETRIC EQ output can directly enter the Channel 1 signal path just before the volume slider. If a 3.5 mm connector is inserted into the MIXER INPUT 1 jack, the EQ output is disconnected and replaced by the incoming jack signal from MIXER INPUT 1.

Btw the eq sounds nice and has a lot of controls. Small encoders though..but they work)

what brand patching cables are these?

looks like the 305 is slightly bigger but the case holds approximately 18 of the normal size modules?

    • @TooSlowTube
      @TooSlowTube 3 года назад

The 305 is 24HP. The 110 synth voice is 16HP, and the others seem to be mostly around that size.
The Behringer website pages for them have detailed specifications, including the size in HP (1HP is 0.2" aka 1/5").

@@TooSlowTube No wonder 4 16HP modules plus the 305 didn't fit in my 84 HP case haha. Online it says it's 20HP which is obviously NOT the case

Is the sound generated by this synth monophonic? Does it have a pan/ping pong function? Thanks.

The mixer (4 inputs) does have little pots underneath to pan left, right centre etc. That's how ive done it with my System 100m. It is mono but with two voices/vco you could make a patch to give a stereo effect. Just make sure your audio interface can do stereo. My first audio interface was mono, so had to get another :/
