Why Daigo switched from Ryu to Cammy against Ryan Hart!
Plus full review and article
I report back on my experiences of Day 1 of NeoEmpire.com's Super Vs Battle 2010 event.
Daigo Umehara made an appearance, along with other known names (well, known to me at least) Ryan Hart and Logan Sama.... yes, Logan Sama was there entering the competition! Good on him! :)

I was conflicted as to which videos should be hosted on my main channel and which should be on my fighting channel.
After much thought it made sense to me to put the article related videos on this channel as it was an 'event/outting'. The remaining 'gameplay' orientated videos will feature on / mumrasdojo
Mumra.
In ten years no one has mentioned the darude sandstorm in the background
Let’s keep it like that…
@@SlickRick4EVER lol
Daigo's hands look so soft
I-I just wanna hold them...
+James Sliger XDD
hands that have never seen a day's hard work.
Bladestorm Rōnin lol. yo, it was a *joke*.. what?did that joke hit home with you? fb me. psicólogo zulu, electrician and former u.s. marine.
WizDoctor I need a marine right now, my W.C is full.
Sorry. Now, serious; my english is basic so I'll try to explain quickly:
A life exclusively dedicated to videogames and no stable "hard" work or "real life" is hard, too. Just in a different way.
That's what offended me a bit and I took it somewhat personal, but not too much.
burn xD
He's doubletapping EVERYTHING! Happy birthday to Daigo the beast
He plinks everything...
So finesse when you look at the fightstick, but deadly when you look at the screen.
He makes it look so easy! I hope to have an arcade stick someday u.u
I got one today, after one, or two minutes I pulled of combos, I never was able to do one a controller :D
Herr Schnitzel you're so full of shit lol no one adjusts to a stick that quickly from pad.
did you get one yet?
Brennan Pline I know right, I’ve had my stick for a little under a month and I’m still not used to it
Brennan Pline took me a few days lol
Umehara chose to "Parry," a technique whereby an incoming attack is blocked without the player losing any health, but by doing so requires moving toward opponent's direction in the same time a hit lands, within four of thirty frames per second of the impact animation. After the move was launched, not only were all 15 hits Parried, but Umehara made a powerful attacking combo that knocked Chun-Li out instead.
who asked
I caught myself staring with my mouth agape, it's like watching a virtuoso play the piano. No wasted movement, no button mashing, no frantic-ness
no prob, this guy is a legend. he has more awards than he can count. traveled across seas to whoop ass.
Such execution very precise many plink do double tap wow
The hands of a supa saiyajin goddo supa saiyajin.
migatte no daigoi
hey man no worries most people arent very good when they switch from a pad to a stick but once you get good with a stick you get GOOD with a stick its a bit of a learning curve but one thats definately worth it
fyi everyone who's been asking, he's also doing a lot of options selects, hence it looking like he's playing a very fast paced game. :+)
Now this is rare footage of the Beast in action.
joysticks and bottons clicking is music to my ears :)
Oh my god, I've been holding my stick like daigo but I was using my whole arm to do stick movements. I just tried only using my fingers and it makes a world of difference holy crap. Thanks for posting this video before i ripped my arm off while also missing my combos.
It's like Mozart playing piano.
murm, that article was a very interesting piece! Nicely done, I enjoyed it a lot. :)
Smooth execution on all moves
LOL I swear no matter what video I watch at the evo's before marvel 3 came out.... always hear storm screaming somewhere in the distant back ground in the audio of the video. *tears* MvC2 I will miss you
The disadvantage of a stick is getting comfortable with it. Which happens naturally with use. The disadvantages of a controller is it being near impossible to perform the more advanced techniques such as p-linking, double tapping and pianoing.
That relaxation, though...
@ChaosTheory0 Not anymore, he's gamer full time now with his sponsorship.
it looks like playing piano ;]
Ah ok
Lol 00:14 DP FADC Ultra
This is satisfying to look at not some 12 year Olds filming there keyboard on fortnite
Beautiful fightstick, hard to get nowadays. I prefer my MC Soul Calibur V one due to the Noir button-layout but this one's blue box is stunning!
Beethoven is that you?
the "wine glass" method of holding the stick has always seemed weird to me. evidently it works for him but I couldn't play like that.
Listen to the button presses...
aahhh, music to my ears
@foreverttw I agree. It's just a matter of personal preference whether you use stick or pad. There's advantages and disadvantages of both. Whatever feels more comfortable is what you should use.
got may madcatz fightstick pro, first arcade stick.
Man it's gonna take a while to get use to.
The speed here is amazing, precise and confident - them trainings!
So, how u been getting on with it?
wow, it looks rather slow and very well calculated and paced. its nothing like the SC2 pros, who look like they're going to break the keyboard
I love the knuckle pop at 0:16, just fluid... I'd love to go in with a stick, but years of d-padding has made everything into a muscle memory and it kills me everytime I get on a stick and flinch my fore/mid fingers for a trigger that's not there... I know I could re-train myself it's just hard to commit... Like the time I thought learning a DVORAK keyboard setup would make things so much smoother over the QWERTY... it was a good idea, but to retrain 20yrs of conditioning is tough to commit to..
is like he is pressing the buttons like " im gona smack this one a bit then this one uhh what does this one do flick flick plick plick click click "
All I see is him glazing the buttons, truly he is a god.
looks like hes making his hands dance
@chronicbeast he is not plinking, he is double tapping
thats a lot of doubletaps and plinks...
***** Where do people come up with this stuff? He plinks every single one-frame link. He'd be stupid not to. Not only that, he often double plinks Ryu's St. Lp into sweep, as made evident when he whiffs a cr. lk instead of a sweep by mistake.
+ermonski stfu
+Raúl L He is doing the three button plinking or just two button plinking?
What's a plink?
Raúl Pinedo - Priority Link (hitting a lower priority (strength) button *almost* at the same time as the button you are trying to link into - so MK if you are linking HK). It gives you an extra frame to hit a 1-frame link. So a 1-frame link becomes a 2-frame link with slightly less chance to miss the timing. This isn’t relevant for SFV.
Same thing happened to Desk... R.I.P Desk's girlfriend.
wow. he does indeed double tapping every button
Damn, how many he buttons does he press with one movement? Amazing.
there are plenty of high ranked players who use a joystick, just depends on what the player is more comfortable with.
Super plinking. Damn
wont have to plini in sf5... cant wait!
people that use 360 controllers are to be feared. they get through by sheer force of will and power. using the controller doesn't mean he's a scrub it means he's doing it the hard way. Using a controller in a fighting game tourney is the equivalent of being able to hold your own against champion boxers with only one hand and a hear condition. Wolfkrone is an example of a high-level controller user who succeeds.
The reason why Daigo picked cammy is the same reason why Ryan Hart uses Dhalsim... Counterpicking is a widely used tactic in a tournament setting.
I can see sometimes he plinks but other times does he just flick at buttons with extra fingers just for fun?
@Chtud Playing with a pad is not hard. Actually it quite easy. I play with the 360 pad, and I feel quite comfortable playing the fighting games that I own. (Tekken, SSF4, SF3oe, and MVC3, even though I haven't played SSF4 and MVC3 since SF3oe came out. Game's addictive.) Training is paramount for any game you're trying to get good at. Even Plinking becomes a breeze after a while. Play hard, get results. I have a stick too, but prefer the pad. It's personal reference, IMO.
20k+ people watched a man's hands.
@MajorBosco Madcatz Super Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition S Fight Stick Chun Li Edition
This stick was limited edition so good luck finding one that's not insanely overpriced. I got my 360 one from my brother for cheap price. I have to say that this one blows away other TE sticks. Very solid top and when you hit the buttons hard, it doesn't feel hollow.
Costanza's hands are better
It's not hard. It's all about preference. Most top players grew up playing on arcade cabinets, so they that's their preference. Others can play on both. Stick is actually hard to learn for pad players, but its the other way around for those that prefer stick.
ya it started in japan but now USA also have tournaments big ones & smaller ones
@jeeljel I'm pretty sure it's a Mad Catz sfiv TE fightstick with some customization, perhaps with the plate and button colours. Could be wrong, but it looks that way and from what I hear the vast majority of pros use some form of this stick.
thats why i always hear that sound.
@mumra2k I saw you at SVB! i was standing right next to u when you were filming, i got to play daigom on sunday he didnt bring his A game becoz even i beat him a round!
I can see that being the argument since it is the consensus of most gamers; though, I don't agree. I actually prefer the xb360 D-Pad over any other pad I've ever played on.
Is the other guy using standard 360 pad with analog stick? Fuck that must be hard.
i think he won this stick in tournament
of pleasure
@900036746 It is. It's much harder to land combos on a controller IMO.
@Deadarknight I easily could have if I wanted to, but I didn't see the point. At present I play as well as your mother does on SSF4, so it'd just be a waste of both our times if I'm not bringing my 'A-Game' to the table.
So yea, just went along to observe and learn what I could from that. My Japanese is not conversational (or even survival), so observation is all I had at my disposal.
whos daigo and why is he so cool to everyone? and what is hes channel..
Nothing wrong with pad players. It's all just preference really. IMO it's better in the long run to learn stick for diversity purposes.
I know he suggested the pinky and ring finger hold but it's just way too uncomfortable for me and i can still get my inputs 90% of the time so i think im just going stick to my middle finger and ring finger hold
Stupid question. Why do people double tap?
It gives you more of a chance to land whatever button you're double tapping. You technically get 4 inputs when you double tap.
I can hear a MvC Storm...
@SonOfSparda3 Yeah GamerBee does too. I guess they like to practice it as much as possible. Even in situations where it's not needed
type Diago full parry
great to see you learning eatmyshorts5
@MultiMAGICDAN Well again, it's personal preference in this case. I pull off big combos way easier on my pad than I can on my stick.
It's an art form.
at :12 was fadc but no ultra. he did not press 3 punch after the fadc.
Wow...impressed
lol he plays so artistic.
I see Diago uses the drum method when he plays for the negative effect
@smokintheblaze i dont think pads easy, thats why sticks r designed to pull of high combos
How do you place a arcade stick on your lap without it fallen, or being umcomfortable, because, I put mines on the arcade box and play with my back hunched ? Ohhh the pain XoX
I put weights on my stick
@slipjim I play on a PS3 controller and it sucks. I can't even do ultras correctly because I'm not good at using my left hand to press the L 1 and 2 buttons. Not sure if I feel like buying a fight stick though, I don't really like SF4 too much.
ranked number 1 street fighter player in the world. Or at least he was. Watch his SF matches and you will see why he is the god of SF.
@narutoxgamester Just takes enough practice. Since it's a piano roll effect, and pressing two buttons a millisecond apart from each other isn't that hard to me on pad. Also, it'll also be easier if you give your combos a tempo, not only seeing how the combos connect, but hearing how the combos connect. That way, you get an idea of when to press the buttons, and even if you don't plink right, the chance of the move coming out is still high. (Sometimes I don't even plink right on my stick. lol)
So essentially you're supposed to plink everything??
holy shit, i came for daigos hands not annotations
Ryan heart is just in the background like YO
I don't see how he can do those small motions so that the stick doesn't move. I can't play with sticks in my lap as I do large motions and the controller moves around, messing up my motions.
Why does he double tap the buttons like that?
If you play using the MS controller's D-Pad, kiss your thumb good bye!
it must be nice to have mommy and daddy do everything for you which frees you up to play this so much you become a professional!!
The most godlike hands since Chuck Norris...
@DarkAdonis123 Another disadvantage of a lot of pads I've used is them damn dpads hurt your thumb after long sessions.
Is the guy he's playing against playing on a xbox controller oO?
speed
Why can't i find such a thing at my current local store? (°_°)
@stryfetc Most professional gamers have a job.
Daigo works in a nursing home.
@geoprimus lol! Yes indeed! xD you were paying attention like whoa.
amazing
starcraft vs streetfighter hands
lol Daigo's face at the end when he picks sagat is just like for fuck sake not annother sagat!
@imsoKamaji chun li limited edition te i think
