In this video I make swirl curls with clear base. 266 grams in 4 loafs.

I loved how this soap turned out. Smells so good too.
Question for you, do you think the swirl curls should be thicker?

Very unique technique for the curls!! I do a lot of curls for my soaps (I do a large sheet, and roll them rather than bend them) I'll have to try this.
One thought....if you poured a VERY thin, uncolored bottom layer, covering the entire bottom of your loaf mold, you can then let it harden a bit. Then pour your swirls on top of that layer. It might give you more flexibility when you bend your curls, just because there is a bit more surface area.

The length of time is perfect. Please do talk to us. I have seen soap videos that are 30 mins long. 17 mins isn't too long AT ALL😊
Also, before I pull my curl sheets out of the mold, I pull it away from the sides and run a paring knife around the outside edges, between the mold and the soap. I find this breaks the airlock and helps the sheets release easier. Thanks for all you do for the M&P community!

Oh my god, just putting a hole in the film on the top of the fragrance bottle is such a good idea. It is so hard to control the pour when you use a full bottle. Thanks so much for showing that.
Sure, one at the top, one at the bottom so the air can push it out. Otherwise you have to squeeze the bottle.
Hi Dean, Ariane Arsenault has done something similar. She's done them. I'll try and see if I can find the video. She did hers with white M & P with calendula then embedded the curls in blue M & P. If I can find it I'll come back and link to it. Cool to see some of the designs you come up with. I wish I was as ingenious as you are.

@@DeanWilson anytime!! after watching some of your videos, i made some soap last night and cut it this morning. the soap's not great bc i worked with charcoal, added too much to a white base, now the soap is gray instead of black and bleeds gray when washing hands. :( but i learned a lot lol such as; getting dark or bright colors only works in clear glycerin. :P
Yes, activated charcoal will only go to gray in white base. For a nice black, 10% white, 90% clear.

Ohhhhh I love these! The heart is perfect in the middle and I'm loving the curl bits that stick out the top, so awesome.
Love the soap, but I think going through the trouble of mixing the white and the clear together to make the curls wasn't necessary, because it didn't show ,all you needed was the pink curls. But loved the center hearts.

Ariane Arsenault had another video similar to the one I've linked, but she must have taken it down...a lot of her videos seem to be gone (I was steadily going through her old videos but hadn't visited in a week or so and now this one pops up, which is not seen - I always like the ones I have seen so I keep track). Anyway, this one is pretty darn close and she has another with a curl & a heart in red as well.
I thought hers was unique because she used a cheese slicer to cut the curls.

Why didnt you use a vanilla stabilizer if your fragrance has vanilla? The white will turn in time. It's so pretty I know from experience that vanilla will turn the base.

Silly question is your titanium dioxide powder base which you add water to make it pourable
For the one I use it was designed to work with melt and pour and it was specially made. Its like a toothpaste texture.

I don't understand though how come these big, rectangular soaps are so wanted when to me they're clumsy to use, my palms are not rectangular but oval lol

Round molds are hard to find. Also hard to cut.
Dean, exellent work. One thing that I want to know is, won't the liquid colour bleed after few weeks?
Maybe, It might create a light pink halo around the curls and heart.

Another gret video. Just a quick question please. If I use cold process soap embeds in MnP soap but the embeds have not cured for 6 weeks, what would be the condition of the soap then? I know MnP can be used as soon as it hardens but what do I do if I want to use cp embeds? Do I cure them COMPLETELY before I use then in the MnP soap?

I have never added CP embeds to my M&P. but I guess you would have to cure them because after you cut the M&P it will sweat if you leave them out to cure. So cure the CP before hand.

ive read somewhere that you cannot use just normal rubbing alcohol. Is this true? What kind do you use? Im just starting a soap business myself and have bought all my tools just need a few more ingredients (colorant and such) is rubbing alcohol very essential?
If your doing layers, embeds or merging multiple colors into a loaf then I do recommend rubbing alcohol. I use 65% so as long as its that or over. The higher the better.
Can you please tell me what's the last thing you added which something like milkshake?
