I hope you bought that disk plow! Those things are hard to find nice and way cool for plow days to have something different. I would like to have a big disk plow for my 820 Deere someday but they are super rare in Kentucky.
It’s nice to see what was at the show this year. I couldn’t make it until Sunday after church and at 10:30 am it was a complete ghost town… I get it there was a rain coming but it was sad that nobody was there…. Oh well I was the late bird and all the worms were gone 😂
Yep by 3:00 on Saturday the vendors were really starting to pack up and leave. I've found that if there's nice weather, Sunday is well worth sticking around for. But if there's already been rain and mud earlier in the weekend, and more is forecast for Sunday, then the main buying and selling rush happens Friday and Saturday and by Sunday everybody is gone because they've had enough of the mud and have conducted enough business to be satisfied.
Enjoyed meeting you and Senior at your booth on Saturday. Did a lot of walking and looking but you really have to know what you are looking for or at. One guy had a 1917 Smith Motor Wheel mounted on a 1918 Colson wood-rimmed bicycle, kind of neat. An AgriCat crawler was there for sale as well. Always a lot to see at this show. Hope to repeat next year!
Looks like you two enjoyed the trip. Reminds me of some trips my Dad and I took. I have the memories but not Dad so I know you know the rest. Enjoy the time while it's available! Greg
Swap meet or swamp meet. I love some of the old iron there. I was hoping you would come home with the TWENTY. Seemed like a good project but you already have plenty of projects on the go. Thanks for the tour..
We have them here in Europe as well, but swap meets in NA are something wild. I try to match my trips over the pond with a few every time. Always go back with plunder in the finest of nordic traditions. 6:00 always felt that for the rock crusher, the best wheels to move it about would be pulleys. I've seen this done with heavy duty equipment of the day (at least here in Europe). When the pulleys came down from the ceilings, when the electric motors overtook the steam powerplant, a lot of factories ditched these "wheels" and people made use of them. One really cool unit i saw once in a museum in UK was a big mining operation water pump mounted on a gun mount like construction, presumably to be pulled by strong horses, the wheels were pulleys. Clearly seen by the pulley lock and the wide belt crowned "thread". Neat stuff.
It almost didn't seem like LeSueur this year until i saw two young ladies trying to push a SUV out of a mud hole, and getting sprayed. I remember the guy who owned the steam engines. You didn't dare go on the property without a invite. I took the Super H as a Franken H. The oil filter was early H. The tin was off of a H. You could still see brighter paint where the Farmall emblem had been. Thanks.
Glad to see you putting out an episode. I watched the whole X231 playlist and I think I'm going to have to watch it again in smaller doses to wean myself off that addiction. I know you have other projects that are higher priority but I will always look for more X231 content. That's what brought me to your channel to begin with.
Excellent video and talk about being spoiled for choice on what to purchase 🤔👍 we have a vintage rally in September that used to have trailer and lorry loads of antique farm equipment etc but sadly these sellers seem to be very much in the minority now and been taken over by stalls selling modern bric a brac junk 😕 perhaps I'm just getting old 🙄🤣🤣 good to hear you had a good weekend 👍
Didn’t make it this year, got up and it was raining so stayed home. (I’m 45 minutes away) Thanks for the video. My son’s father in law sells there every year and said he did pretty well also despite the rain.
The old guy who used to own that ground was quite unfriendly to trespassers though, due to having had so many “souvenir” hunters lifting pieces off his steamers, so you only dared go on that property if you were invited. Can’t say that I blame the guy either. After he passed on, the land was sold and all of its contents auctioned off, several of those steamers are now restored and in operation at tractor shows that I attend every year 👍
I’d definitely say it is my new favorite place, all old machines and stuff that no cares for anymore, just glad there are some people out there that still enjoy stuff like that, and hopefully next year I’ll come say hi to you and buy something off you and senior!! 👍
I almost mustered the energy to go to Le Sureur this year after last been some fifteen years ago. Alas not to be. The big steam threshing and engine show at Pawnee Oklahoma is the must do regional event in this part of the world.
well damn, if I had found that rooster comb I would have bought it. I'm looking for parts!! I saw that disc plow, and man I wanted it!! that first CAT engine you showed had SOLD written on it when I saw it Friday morning.
The rumor I heard was it sold for just $300 - the radiator alone was worth that. Not much Caterpillar stuff ever seems to show up at LeSueur, so it mostly all gets snatched up pretty quick.
Truly enjoyed the program. I am amazed at your knowledge of the equipment...I guess it stems from so much incompetence we all face..My great uncle had a family dairy farm in Seymour Connecticut. He had a Ferguson Tractor and a Ford as well. . I've always enjoyed watching heavy equipment run.. my uncle was in the Navy Seabees and operated cranes and dozers etc. my brother & I always looked up to him. I was born in '51..I suspect senior and I are close in age!
If it wasn’t for being a 12hr drive I’d love to go. Which is why I only go to Portland Indiana for theirs in a few weeks. It’s only 3 hours away from me.
I didn't take any video of the swap, I wanted to take the opportunity to find the things I needed. Sometimes it's nice to just go and enjoy. Great video. Lots of neat stuff.
Agree. Good show. We brought a good many treasures home. I found an old brass radiator for $20 - where else but Le Sueur?! Weather on Saturday was good...bit windy, but not uncomfortable. Sorry I wasn't able to say "Hi" but as happened last year, Kyle Crist got your attention first when I strolled up. Good grief, I swear he waits in the wings to grab you as I walk up. Smile. I'll see you next year. Nice to see you sold a fair bit.
@@squatch253 I can't push him aside - it's against the Minnesota Nice rule 27B. ;-) BTW - I did get to talk to your dad and how the new truck worked pulling the trailer.
Hey squatch, a neat idea for these videos, if you still have the old gopro, set it up on the top of the trailer and do a time lapse with it. I think it'd be neat seeing the amount of visitors your booth gets.. Or at least see the rain come and go. It'd be a neat thing to try with your new editing software. Who knows, it might be a neat thing you'd put in for some disassembly videos on scrapping days.
What an enjoyable vid. from over here in UK. Interesting to see American countryside and what sort of things people have on sale. Look forward to the next one.
The CASE aftermarket wheel weights were from the Taylor Foundry Co. They made a lot of aftermarket weights for CASE tractors. And the others were wrap around front weights for 100 and 30 series.
This had lots of familiar views and it was GREAT to see you both again this year. As always, I am looking forward to next year and we are about due for a rainless event.
The CAT twenty was a very neat find. I'm wondering what is in those two boxes you had on the back seat? I recognized lot of things from the video. Some of this stuff was in local farm landfills or under the forest when I was a child.
Great video as always! Glad to see you and senior stepping away from the daily grind and relaxing some. I'd definitely like to see a recap video of the purchases yall made over the weekend.
i have always enjoyed going to this type of swap meet, but gotten boared fast, it sure helped keep me from getting board when some one knows what the items go to goes along with you. Thanks for the history lesson
i was wondering if you did get those wheels for the prototype MM tractor, I love your channel and have been watching since you started work on 5J1113 and please keep up the good work and I can't wait until you start working on the rock crusher
Hard to believe what the grounds of the show looked liked on Wednesday and Thursday compared to Friday and Saturday! Glad I could stop by on Saturday and say Hi, grabbed those 3 big ammo cans from ya. Thanks again!
How do you keep a bumpkin in suspense... tease that there is more than a throttle lever, dash panel and raincap procured... and just what's in that Cat box?
Thanks for that one, Squatch Good to see you and Senior out of the shop for a bit 👍 So, the Caterpillar box on the backseat? Is there a Caterpillar Twenty restoration on the way? 🤞🙏
Always say I am going to the swap meet but always find myself busy. It’s only 20 minutes from home. I wonder how many times some of that stuff has made the trip to the show
Question for ya. There’s a gentleman named Paul Hebert who deals with literature for all models. His business card says Minnesota Paper Boy. He comes to the Tulare show here in CA as well as shows all throughout the US. Does he ever come to your shows? He’s based out of Minnesota so I would imagine you’ve crossed paths. He has the best collection of original books I’ve ever seen. (second being us because of the pallet boxes of cat books we’ve bought from him through the decades lol)
Wow. I’m surprised he wasn’t at the swap meet. But knowing Paul, he’d have a heart attack at the sight of that much rain. He has a lot of top shelf books, normally in excellent condition. Hopefully you run into him sometime. I believe he frequents shows around the mid west, the one out here, and a few in Texas.
As much as I wanted to, we couldn't make it this year. Probably a good thing because there was a lot of stuff I would have hauled home! There's always next year, 😂.
That homemade tractor with the truck axle that was a 14 bolt full float and yeah that's a stout rear end I've abused the for years behind big block ford's and Chevy and they have always held up great
Hey up mate couldn't watch your video when first seen it come up like i normally do as it said swap meet, had to wait so i could enjoy it properly, thanks it was a goodun
That steam auction was highly anticipated and very well attended, with most units bringing good money. The serious steam collectors were even in there a week prior to the auction and doing ultrasound checks on all the boilers, determining their condition ahead of time so that they knew how high they wanted to bid. That was probably 20 years ago now, sometime in the early 2000’s 👍
Weather about the same as last year.
That Wisconsin powered frankentractor was super cool.
He was actually out making rounds on it Friday and Saturday - I think it was his “show buggy” and probably not for sale 👍
The plow you see behind the W4 in the video I bought it is at 20:08. I do agree about pizzarea 201
I grew up in Montgomery, Steam engine Joe was a fixture in the community for most of my life.
Nice
Next time you're coming through the area stop by - I run the Montgomery Sawmill!
We hit Franke's Bakery in Montgomery for fruit filled kolaches. Thank you for a great video!
15:51, 47 years ago I almost bought a new Craftsman 5-1/2" vise like that one. I own the one step smaller one to this day... As you do..?
Great seeing you there again! Hopefully we'll run into you at the Orange Spectacular as well
Damn, have I been watching this channel for 3+ years already. I feel like a regular of this swap meet and I've never been.
Pizza looks good . Now you have me wanting one . lol
That Beeman flywheel you found had one complete in New Zealand still have the plough
'I have a condition' lol.
I hope you bought that disk plow! Those things are hard to find nice and way cool for plow days to have something different. I would like to have a big disk plow for my 820 Deere someday but they are super rare in Kentucky.
They’re kinda rare here too, but what ends up being the deal-breaker for me is how poorly they perform in rocky ground - of which I have lots of lol 😂
Bumpkin is a damned fine look! Wear it with pride!
The years go by quickly, it's like you only just got back from last year
I had forgotten about the rock crusher. I look forward to seeing work on it again.

paradise!!

That ole stream tractor grave yard must have been a little slice of Heaven to walk around in!

@squatch253 , that adage about 3 old tractors to restore ONE was proven...

Thank you again for the business! It was good talking to you again 👍
SQUATCH, Kudos to you for Such a MAGNIFICENTly CLEAN and SPOTLESS interior in your truck 👍.

Your fuel prices are so much better than ours. Glad you had a good weekend.
Oh wow the oliver plow parts I need! Plus a perfect looking plow rim
It was really good to see you again. The cold and wind chased me out of there early. Can't wait for next year.
What an enjoyable vid. from over here in UK. Interesting to see American countryside and what sort of things people have on sale.

Sounds like a good upcoming episode suggestion! 👍

I normally go every year. I messed up and booked a Las Vegas trip during this weekend 🙃 hopefully I see ya next year!

2:00 Oh whoa... just look at all that treasure!
Was starting to wonder where the rain was at the start.
I planned on going , but too much rain…stayed home

There were no 10” rims there like I needed.
Bumpkin stealth mode activated. 🤣
We have one of those Weaver high-speed screw presses on the farm. No idea where dad got it, but it’s been there since at least the 1970s.
So interesting and so many different parts and pieces.
sounds like Sr was hinting that it was time to put the camera down because there was work to be done 😊
Was wondering why you was MIA , sorry for cussing 🤷♂️ when I was deprived of my weekend squatch 253 experience 😝🤣🤣 ✌️ 🤙

I have one of those M&W throttle handles on my super M and prefer it over the sawtooth on my H
Funny how your silver truck’s 6.2 sounds so much different than Rick Bork’s 6.2 on a cold start.
I was noticing the same thing - maybe I need to drop it off to get "The Bork Manifold Delete" put on it???
better weather this year

Thanks for the video! How much small engine stuff (my kryptonite) is usually at this particular swap meet?
There is actually quite a bit of small engine related stuff here, from Maytags to Briggs & Stratton to garden tractors to the early flywheel engines.
Two dollars less per gallon than my neck of the woods!
Thanks for the video Toby!
how much is diesel?
Well, at least it wasn't a total monsoon. Hey, I need that glass jar off that air cleaner 😂
