Since this hath been brought up quite a bit RE: Rogal Dorn's Death: In the oldest Lore, ONLY his hand was found. Somewhere in 6th or 7th edition, it transformed into that his body had be found and interred in Amber within the Phalanx. And this is on me - the 8th edition lore has RETURNED to the notion that nothing of him was found, so I was going off of some dated info.. which I'm glad because I was annoyed they hadn't changed it, but am now glad that they have haha. Just know that without this guy the Imperium would have been lost. The Phalanx uses such amazing technology that it's transformed from a giant asteroid station, to a triangle thing with each side having the firepower of a battle-barge, to a giant golden eagle, and back to a giant asteroid, all in the space of one series.
Wolf Lord Rho covered 2 story segments with Dorn and Alpharius. The second one you cover and that is the fight between Dorn and Alpharius. What Wolf Lord Rho also covers in that fight is how Alpharius trys to talk to Dorn about his plan to beat the bad guys, and Dorn just says "Fire" to his men with out wasting time listening to Alpharius's duplicitous talk. I loved the bad ass nature with which Dorn takes down Alpharius. Before that there is a scene where Dorn meets Alpharius, in Alpharius own throne room. Alpharius does his thing and Dorn sees through his deception the whole time. Alpharius also thinks that non of the other primarchs seem to understand how good he and his legion are at what they do and how good their tactics are. Dorn leaves Alpharius by telling him he fully understands his tactics and corrects him on how he could have done his last strategy much better both in scope and in timing. These things show Dorn has an amazing mind. Not just for Defense but overall. With the phalanx it shows he understands mechanics better then most of the other primarch. I get the impression Dorn gets little credit for how good he was because he was stuck at home and did not spend much time making friends with the other primarchs. He also was not egotistical. The Emperor keeping Dorn on Defense was not because Dorn was so good at defense comparative to other tactics. It was because Dorn was one of the greatest overall minds of the primarchs. With no ego, the Emperor didn't have to worry about Dorn pouting in a corner of the palace because he didn't get to play soldier in the galaxy like his brothers. Dorn was held in reserve as a powerful trump card for the inevitable fall, the Emperor knew was sure to come but did not now the details too.

Really awesome video, man! Sorry it took me this long to comment here- I like to watch a video a few times before I say if I like or dislike it. This one was certainly no disappointment! Dorn is one of the Primarchs I know the least about, and you brought parts of his story that I’d never heard before, so thank you- not only was I laughing like I usually do with your vids, but I learned some new shit, too. But he has such a good and interesting Lore that it's a shame he's been so minor up until the Horus heresy series. I'm definitely going to do the Sigismund video. People need to hear of the Sigi and it shall happen! :) As always, Thanks a ton for watching and your comments dude. I always seek em out
Imagine Dorn being the next Primarch to return. Dorn and Gullimen together again? He would definetly take a lot of pressure off of Gullimen to focus on the bureaucray of The Imperium while Dorn leads the Military as a whole.
You got it backwards in the older lore Rogal Dorn was found dead and his body was recovered. In the new lore they only found one of his fists. In the 8th edition codex it is written "Rogal Dorn is believed to have died whilst fighting a Chaos fleet, and was last reported storming the battleship sword of sacrilege. When the Imperial Fists defeated the Chaos fleet, the only trace of their Primarch uncovered by their searches was a single fist. Excerpt from Codex Adeptus Astartes 8th edition, the hand of Dorn. While this does not mean that Dorn is alive his body is never dicovered. Since the Codex contains the canon lore and therefore the newest lore he may still be alive.
that's actually only in one story - that his body is interred in amber within the Phalanx. In the older Index Astartes, his body was never found. I can screenshot the excerpt if you would like :) I have my 8th edition SM book, I'll go look into that!!
Oh, by the way! There's not much ever to be told about what happens to mechanicus during Horus Heresy, can you please make a video on that one? I think this would be extremely interesting considering what role it played in the future, and that people don't really talk about it like...Ever
@@italianspartacus it's about for ou to decide, I guess, haha. I would be happy anyway. But, I guess telling what happened to them specifically during HH might get us a better picture of HH as a whole, especially now, when the Siege of Terra is about to begin. Yet again, I'll be happy in any case, so it's up for you to decide)
There's a Mechanicus guy that shows up in Master of Mankind. He gives you an interesting look at what's happening for them. Master of Mankind also features a Custodes character fairly front and center as well as a glimpse into the Emperor('s mind) more directly than some of the other Heresy era books too
Rogale dorn's best story might be between solar war & his definite dissapearance. His stoic facade breaks, sigismund has detiariate relationship with him. He has his father's order to rebuild the empire, but to what end? What lesson rogale learns during the twillight time of primarchs?
7:40 out of all of The Primarchs only Russ Sanguíneus Dorne Magnes (doesn’t count you know why) Rowboat Girlyman Vulken Manus Were the only Primarchs who successfully merged the two aspects of their legions, but some better than most.
Didn't Rogal Dorn repeatedly mount the greatest and stoic defense, multiple times against Horus and the chaos gods? Did he not stand alone, as primarch against impossible odds? Not once, or twice but hundreds of times? Did not, the mighty primarch save Terra? I'm at a loss, then... the beginning of this video has me baffled!!!
Please, do that video on Sigismund. I only know that he did something that angered Dorn beyond reason, but I would like to know what he did, exactly to piss off Dorn so much.
GW made the novel in which his whole body was found as non-canon. One of the few times they would retcon a book. The official canon is that only his hand was found.
I don't remember where I have read it, so please don't take my word for 100%, but I THINK that it was once noted that the Imperial fists we're THE most effective/efficient legion, only Matt Ward's writing about the Ultramarines changed this. They did their missions with the least casualties ect. Fun fact: before Ultramarines, the posterboy Space Marines, we're the freaking BLACK TEMPLARS (as seen even on the cover of the rulebook in 3rd* edition), which are the successors of the Imperial fists. edit: changed it from 4th edition to 3rd, my bad.
"Behind the scenes" feel? That must be why a lot of the other first founding chapters get upgrade sprues, non-Forge World embossed shoulder pads, etc, while Dorn's bois get left out, even though there's TWO fairly popular chapters that use fist stuff (including my Crimson bois). And don't bring up Black Templars. They will always be Sigusmund's bois to me.
*the only legon that came close to horuses accomplishments were the imperial first* wrong wrong wrong. the dark angels had far more accomplishments under there belts though a lot of the records were kept hidden, lion el johnson had the best battle record in the imperium after horus and that's with him being found in the second half of the primarks. actually what did dorn even think of the lion, never hear about those two interacting.
So.. I had heard the same thing.. And I'm wondering which one is hyperbole now. I tried to fact check this as much as possible because BOTH entries say this. Do you have any resources you can provide?? It's super irritating because I try to make these accurate :( As for Lion and Dorn, I also have like... Zero interaction between the two. It might be in the more recent stuff to come out with a conversation between Dorn and Sanguinius maybe? Dorn asking why the Lion didn't join them maybe, then his feelings are revealed?
@@italianspartacus well i looked around for quite some time, but was unable to find the direct point were it was said, (to many books to look though) but on the dark angels page wikipidia under dawn of the imperium and the great crusade sub point it says under lion el johnson leadership the dark angels calmed more victories then any other besides the luner wolves"
As far as I am concerned, Dorn is alive in stasis somewhere only the chapter master of the Black Templars knows. He can only be recalled under specific circumstances. And, yes his arm was cutoff, and now he has this badass cybernetic powerfist that has a combi-plasma gun/melta gun built into it, the Dornfist. As Resident of the Internet Either, I declare this valid and canon!
The Eisenstein did not come out of the warp in front of the Phalanx. It came out half dead, and had to jettison it's warp core for detonation out of desperation. It was that detonation that guided Dorn out of the warp.
You're not wrong, but from a narrative stance I chose to omit that. There's only so many details I can include before I lose someone. And I'm trying to do these from the perspective of someone who has little understanding of the existing Lore :)
To be fair perturabo was given the most difficult and grueling of crusades. Something none of the other primarchs would have succeeded in. Out of sheer stubbornness yes.
Where does it say that horus looks up to guilliman. In rise of horus, it talks about how horus doesnt like guilliman because guilliman is jealous and such. I think horus looked up to saguinius more so. Horus goes out of his way to talk about the compitance and loyalty of sanguinus, dorn, and fulgrim rather than kahn and guilliman
There are two times in this vid where you accidentally repeat yourself. Once with the imperial stoner shade eagle and once right at the very end. Freaking great though. Yes I would also really enjoy a black templars and crimson fists video!
Lol I was just wondering when the next Primarch video was gonna come out. Will there be a video on a battle report 40k on the ShadowSpear. I remember you were discussing about it before on one of your videos.
Doesn't Vulkan tell Koorland (Slaughter) that he would tell Dorn how well they did during The War of the Beast? And I'm pretty sure that takes place after Dorn disappears cause that's when Koorland enacts the Last Wall protocol.
Dorn is actually In my opinion best writen primarch. When other primarchs you basically get their ideas on 1-2 books but with Dorn you actually have to read maaaaany books before everything just clicks and turns out Dorn was One of the emperors keys to get where we are now
I couldn't imagine the lion and dorn liking each other too much. I dont think i could even see them working together too well either......... pre heresy of course, the dark angels work with no one post heresy lol.

Magnes (doesn’t count you know why)

Were the only Primarchs who successfully merged the two aspects of their legions, but some better than most.
You're on a rampage brother!! I hope you're enjoying the Primarch videos :)
ItalianSpartacus I am
Didn't Rogal Dorn repeatedly mount the greatest and stoic defense, multiple times against Horus and the chaos gods? Did he not stand alone, as primarch against impossible odds? Not once, or twice but hundreds of times? Did not, the mighty primarch save Terra? I'm at a loss, then... the beginning of this video has me baffled!!!
"Florida-level ice storms"? Lol, I'll have to remember that one. ;)
Looks like someone broke out the ol thesaurus. Who drops Zeitgeist casually in a sentence anymore haha
hahah i took latin for 5 years, i have a funky vocab
@@italianspartacus long as you're not pulling words out of your ass to sound smart, that'd be really mitochondria.
it's the power house of the cell, ya know
@@italianspartacus yea.. Was trying to pull off will Ferrell snl sketch as Ron burgundy. Doesn't have the same gravitas over text
Please, do that video on Sigismund. I only know that he did something that angered Dorn beyond reason, but I would like to know what he did, exactly to piss off Dorn so much.
IT SHALL BE SO!
GW made the novel in which his whole body was found as non-canon. One of the few times they would retcon a book. The official canon is that only his hand was found.
great video as always. Loving the 40K lore
You helped me start my channel . i thank you alot
I don't remember where I have read it, so please don't take my word for 100%,
but I THINK that it was once noted that the Imperial fists we're THE most effective/efficient legion, only Matt Ward's writing about the Ultramarines changed this.
Great Video!!!
thank you so much for watching!
*Magical pain glove*
Pertuarbo didn’t become a daemon primarch until after the iron cage incident.
Yes. It is I, ROGAL DORN.
10:35 too soon dude, way too soon. Some of us have not gone over it yet.
i will always be there for you
Dude you are awesome at narrating. I hope you keep doing 40k videos!
"Bobby G, BOOM!"- made my day lol
The man, the myth, the legend!
It's super irritating because I try to make these accurate :(
As for Lion and Dorn, I also have like...
Crushing NattyLlight in the back of Leman Russ's Thunderhawk... ROFLMFAO!!!
did i say that!?? hahahahahah
Horus goes out of his way to talk about the compitance and loyalty of sanguinus, dorn, and fulgrim rather than kahn and guilliman
i believe it's during his fever dreams on Davin
There are two times in this vid where you accidentally repeat yourself. Once with the imperial stoner shade eagle and once right at the very end. Freaking great though. Yes I would also really enjoy a black templars and crimson fists video!
I miss you Dorn. I miss you so.
Lol I was just wondering when the next Primarch video was gonna come out. Will there be a video on a battle report 40k on the ShadowSpear. I remember you were discussing about it before on one of your videos.
In time, i need to finish painting, but i've been so consumed with content for ya'll!
ItalianSpartacus hope to see it someday this year :D
Dorn isnt a favorite of mine but I do favor the Black Templars. Can we get a video on them?
Chapter master Valrak approves of this video.
Hahaha I wish. I watch all of his News update. Easier than going to WH community
Anyone else thinks that royal form would have made a perfect successor
Crushing Natty Lite in the back of thunderhawk hahaaa
Great vid, I love lore vids
Would love to see a video about Sigismund
YOU'RE IN LUCK! I did it already ;) ruclips.net/video/GZxva1yq6Cw/видео.html
Doesn't Vulkan tell Koorland (Slaughter) that he would tell Dorn how well they did during The War of the Beast? And I'm pretty sure that takes place after Dorn disappears cause that's when Koorland enacts the Last Wall protocol.
Rogal Dorn AKA Mr Fister.
“ *Mågīç* **Łēâthėr** ***PÃÏÑ*** glove”
You are shocked, Father. And I understand why.
