I want so badly for someone to call Guilliman "Bobby G" in a future novel. He would either think it was the funniest thing that ever happened or have them killed on the spot.
According to The Beast Arises he was justified in offing the Lords of Terra which I agreed with, however he then went far, far too far. Plus being granted the position of Head of the Administratum(?) outright broke him.
Yeah, he took over everything and then went completely insane. All the Custodians did in that situation was take Alicia Dominica to Big E so he could let them know that Vandire needed killing. Thanks to that, we got my absolute favorite famous last words from Vandire: "I don't have time to die! I'm too busy!"
Great Video my friend, I did not think I would be so hype for the Custodes... But as soon as I saw the new models... I had to get them... picking up my codex, Trajann and the Termis up tomorrow x)

Some custodies were considered equals to primark's in some aspects I don't think there were any custodies with psychic abilities it's actually kind of a big problem if you think about it
For comparison, Astartes are like wolves, Thunder Warriors are like bears, and Custodes are like tigers/lions. Custodes are the apex hunter but fewer and prone to be overrun with hoard tactics without support. Thunder Warriors are like bears who just woke up from hibernation. They're bigger and stronger than wolves but you can't expect them to fight together. TW are all about wanton destruction. You can group them together point them in the general direction of the enemy and hope they stay together as a cohesive unit. There's a reason why Big E replaced them. Now Astartes are the smallest and physically weakest of the three but they fight and move together as a pack. They also hunt in bigger numbers. That's the advantage of Astartes over the two. Just my own observation here.
leo beltran yeah that has always been the Astartes’s advantage over the Custodes, large numbers. The larger the conflict the more likely the Astartes will win since they are meant to be a large conquering force. While the Custodes are more individualistic (they will form units if needed but even then they mostly go and do their own thing) making them more efficient on the smaller scale.
Good stuff! Well rounded & great scope. (Production value is a positive also!). Personally, Custodian Guards always a favorite. Like you mentioned, before they were only in bits of lore or in artwork. Great to see a developed army. Thanks for posting

@ItalianSpartacus, re-watching this video I noticed multiple more errors but a main one that I missed first time is when you're talking about the Age of Apostacy the Custodes don't bring the leader of the "Sisters of Silence" before the Emperor, THEY have been gone for quite some time. They bring the leader of the BRIDES OF THE EMPEROR, before The Emperor.

I thank you for that and would love to make some future suggestions for topics to cover.
Custodes aren't augmented via geneseed. They are hand-crafted, customized down to their individual DNA to be genetically perfected. Even more so than the Astates. The Custodes are extensions of the Emperor, his 10,000 fingers that ensure His presence is always felt. They are small parts of Him; whereas the Astates are his Legions, his army, the Custodes are the words that unleash them.
4:03 you are referring to the book "The First Heretic", not 'Betrayer'; There are no living custodians in the book 'Betrayer"; only word bearers, world eaters and ultramarines.
Not a fan of GW retconning the Emperor into a cold, calculating asshole. TTS Emps should be canon since it explains why he's a jerk as he cast out the "kind and fatherly" aspect of his soul into the warp so he could eradicate Horus without any hesitation. Makes more sense than what GW is writing.

Forge World’s stuff is just normally out of my price range, but I had bought 2 squads of GW’s Custodes and 1 of the Sisters of Silence, because I really love the lore and the models. I’m thrilled that I’ll finally be able to afford their jet bikes and Terminators- like I said, I love the Forge World models but they are just waaay too much $$. Not that GW is cheap, by any means (!), but they are the lesser of two evils. Anyway- thanks for another great video- enjoy your weekend! =][=
You know I often think of the Custodes as a mix between The Swiss Guard guarding the Vatican and the Knights Templar since to them there is no greater authority then that of the Emperor, the same way for the Knights Templar the highest authority was the Pope and no lord, King nor Emperor told the what to do.
I'm pretty sure if i remember correctly Constantin valdor bound them to Terra and they all dawned the black. And Robute had nothing to do with them because he had no authority over them and the only one save the Emperor was the Captain General
can somebody explain how thet have restored their numbers up back to 10k? if each one was hand-crafted by the E-money -- who made the new ones? and out of whom? 1d4chan states that they rebuilt themselves but I couldn't google more, even on Lexicanum...
The rank of Tribune is a roman equivalent of a general but its not in 40K codex anymore. plus Traijan Volris is only a tiny bit more powerful than a shield captain, which really annoys me. if you want a Custodian HQ that's not him, you have to have a shield captain. that's pretty sad
Hey guys. I am new to WH40K, and already overwhelmed but sheer volume of info. Could you please help me a bit? In this video, author mentions "the new set of codex" right at the beginning. What does it mean? If that a set of books I can read?
it's a reference to the newest edition of codexes. Codexes are the books you get all of the information on how to play an army, their lore, everything! :) the BEST place to start is probably the Horus Heresy series. That'll lay the foundation for the massive conflict that a lot of the codexes reference or are created as a result of!
the tabletop goes through episodes/"patches" every few years, currently on 8th edition. Factions usually get a new codex with each edition, to bring the updated rules and units to them. The Custodes never really had a codex until now.
About the emotional intelligence of the Adeptus Astartes: Their psyche is being ripped open and broken by psykers or Librarians and they are subject to vast indoctrination. So you could alter their emotional responses and I think that has been made prety clear in some of the books.
I think in their case it's not really indoctrination it's education I understand what you mean as far as the learning machines that some space Marines have to go through however in the books it's made it quite clear that those machines while implanting memories those memories can be separated from real memories as false memories or simply as just knowledge
Is there any weaknesses to a custodes other than numbers? They seem like a 1 man necron world engine/hive fleet/30k astartes legion that could single handedly end 3 entire factions and rebuild the imperium to pre heresy with only 50 of them
It has been a while since I have check the lore on the creation of space marines so I maybe wrong here but if I remember correctly the successful transformation is 1/3 of the aspirants. We have to remember that most space marines home world are usually death world, meaning that they probably do not have billions or even millions of populations on them. So picking up a hundred young adolescent male to create one space marines would cause a huge strain on the capacity to survive on the inhabitants. I think one in three is more believable. But again It's been a while since I looked at the lore so I perhaps I am making a mistake here.
11:45 legionis astartes did not take part in killing of Thunder wariors ! only Custudes where trusted to that degree to do the job and keep silent afterwards !
@@italianspartacus ok , this is wiki ( not the most reliable source ) , but i imagine they would not make this mistake: "According to Arik Taranis, the final culling of the Thunder Warriors took place following the victory of the last battle of Unity, and was carried out by the Legio Custodes, the only soldiers in the Imperial armies capable of defeating the Thunder Legion. " the problem is - there is atleast two versions of the story , one is what i reference , one is what you reference.

@@italianspartacus well - that is bigest problem in 40k. more than a few lore books conflict each other , mostly on details . But sometimes in major way .

@@ItsZim0 They are called Blanks. They have a soul it just doesnt interact with the warp. While the average person in the imperium show up as a small presence in the warp. Which attracts the corruputing powers of chaos.

This process you talk about makes me think of the process of becoming a Witcher. Geralt would be an amazing Space Marine, a Grey Knight, naturally.
Truth be spoken!!! It. Is the will of the EMPEROR !!!
More like a cool Inquisitor (but I'm biased!).
Edited.
Great video as usual buddy. Love the humour you put in too
hahah thanks Lee! glad you've been enjoying it over this past year! you've been there since like the beginning!
ItalianSpartacus love me a lore video. Have them on in the background when I'm doing odd jobs
yuuuuusssss more coming your way, big cat

Dude, the Primarch’s themselves admitted that a Custodian made them hesitate when thinking of fighting them.
Emperor Constantine 1. Source?
*G O G E Vandire* was not just some "future tyrant that is trying to take the position of (a) HIgh Lord of Terra!" He was much worse than that!
WELL!! i can't just give ALL the news away :)
@@CharlesUrban He wanted the job of head of all departments so its his fault he's too busy to die
Great Video my friend, I did not think I would be so hype for the Custodes... But as soon as I saw the new models... I had to get them... picking up my codex, Trajann and the Termis up tomorrow x)
... and the First Heretic Book is one of my fav. Horus Heresy Books
Everything Aaron dembski-bowden touches is fucking art bro. They look so good though. I'm.. Tempted....
add them as a patrol detachment shield cpt. with the amazing jet bikes they gonna hit like trucks... im thinking about adding later some Astra Militarum, never got them before but thematically that would be great.
I do love fighting Adeptus Custodes with my astra militarum. I almost never loose a unit while i table those golden fools.
Yet another new imperial codex and army, whilst my Black Templars have been shoved in the vanilla marine codex sense 6th ed. Still nice video man.
+Reginald Gorpfist I dunno dude... I hated that neophyte/initiate rule! I do miss black templars though. I wanted to start them for so long!!
Not anymore!
In my Head Canon the Custodes are the Golden Men from the Dark Golden age of tech. Some sorta synthetic men the Emperor used and uses.
We need more lore content from you homie, only warhammer RUclipsr who's voice I can stand besides arch and 40k theorys
How dare you besmirch the mighty Spartans! Heresy!!!! Awesome videos man please keep making them. they are making work so much more fun
Love your videos, please do the Black Templars and Blood Angel's and the Grey Knights !!
Great video, one brief stipulation, I think it was “The First Heretic” and not Betrayer where the Bearers of the Word observe the Custodes
I heard a rumour that Fulgrim changed his battle barge into a "party bus" is that true?
;)
High ranking Custodes could actually beat Primarchs in one on one combat.
Some custodies were considered equals to primark's in some aspects I don't think there were any custodies with psychic abilities it's actually kind of a big problem if you think about it
That's why you have the sisters of silence working so closely with the custodis
Loved it. Beautiful. You should make more of these lore videos.
Very nice video!
You have a very wonderful vocie aswell.
:)
First video, love your voice, subbed.
welcome to the family brother :)
Good stuff! Well rounded & great scope. (Production value is a positive also!). Personally, Custodian Guards always a favorite. Like you mentioned, before they were only in bits of lore or in artwork. Great to see a developed army. Thanks for posting
One thing I'd love to see is a timeline of history. From the unification wars to the Horus Hersey to present day Imperium. I would be interested on your take.
Would love to get some thunder warrior lore, there really isn't a lot of it out there on the you tube at least anyway. Awesome vid.
Just subbed
Really good posts/info! Thanks for your time and enthusiasm for the hobby
ABSOLUTELY! thank you so much for subscribing and i hope to bring more goodies to ya :D
ItalianSpartacus - also, love the screen name! Hahahahaha
Do you have chin dimple like Kirk Douglas (originally Spartacus in like 1962) or no? Hahahahaha. Anyway great channel man. Glad I found it!
I AM SPARTACUS! No- I AM SPARTACUS!
hahah i wish man, i'd just store thing sin it because his was so prominent
Good man! Again; great info/format/channel. Thanks
I love TWW2 and fantasy lore. 40k just has so much more the Titans, Dark age of technology and so much more. Thanks for the videos 👍
i agree.. i just LOVE 40k more.. it also has a little more direction and not as much retconned BS
I know I'm late to the party, the codex has already dropped but I kust got it today. I love the lore on these guys, and love the video. If you haven't already, do one on the Thunder Warriors. Thanks mang.
Oh dude are you loving it!? How are they in 8th? Tell me everything
It's a very short codex since they don't have many troop variations. I got them to be more of a bodyguard for Bobby G. The models are amazing, video got Trajann and a 5 man squad of Custudian guard. Judging by the statlines for these guys, they're basically baby primarchs. I'm going to the hobby shop later and hope to order the Talons of the Emperor box. I love these models and lore. I will keep you updated my man .
You're correct! I said sisters of silence!? Fuck
@@italianspartacus don't worry it's a common mistake I think I've done it myself
don't forget everybody this is 10,000 years of history and some of it's pretty well fleshed out
@@notbob8252 who the bride?
I’ve been watching a lot of different channels that cover the lore on the Warhammer and I must say your the only channel I’ve come across that full explains everything. A lot of stuff out there is confusing and leaves out a lot of the finer details that I in particular and my friends enjoy.
Hey man, greatly enjoy listening to your take on the lore. The music you use is awesome, too. Where'd you get the music?
can i ask what role did the custodes play during the horus heresy?
What’s the background song name please

4:03 you are referring to the book "The First Heretic", not 'Betrayer'; There are no living custodians in the book 'Betrayer"; only word bearers, world eaters and ultramarines.
Not a fan of GW retconning the Emperor into a cold, calculating asshole. TTS Emps should be canon since it explains why he's a jerk as he cast out the "kind and fatherly" aspect of his soul into the warp so he could eradicate Horus without any hesitation. Makes more sense than what GW is writing.
It was first heretic the book you're talking about with the duels against the word bearers 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
god it's so fucking good
It really is a great book my fav is betrayer though
@@italianspartacus it really is a great book, my fav is betrayer
hands down.. the lines in it are so god damn great... ADB be praised!
@@italianspartacus he personally loved my delvarus conversion which was great to see and read
I take the constant rewritings of the lore as the fact that the Imperium is fucking huge, so legends probably rule over facts.
Great content! I would love to know what software you use!
Adobe premiere and OBS Studio! Thanks for watching brotherrrr
If you finish Arkhan the black campagin. You get a message that you get by every finished total warhammer campaigns. Can you make a vidoe about the message its a Huge foreshadwoning for something. (Sorry for bad english)
Lemme guess......Nagash?
I dont want to Spoil anything. So Maybe
+ritchie18911 already planning on it! :)
Actually, no!
I like your style mate. Good stuff.
Great job on the Custodes- I’m so looking forward to the new codex and models! =][=
i'm in the same boat man.. i love the FW models, but they're just so damn expensive that it just never seems worth it in the long run!
Id like to see a krork and a Custodes fight. Aren't they on the same level?
And one of them manage to outsmart Big E and Tzeentch in a Children's Cardgame and become the sole winner of Stellaris. 🤣
1d4chan states that they rebuilt themselves but I couldn't google more, even on Lexicanum...
very good lore video!! thank you!
no! thank you for watching! :)
It was 300 Spartans, a few thousand other greeks(3-5k. With the persians numbering around 40-50k. The Immortals numbered 10k alone.
Emperor is Proud about This and You 😎 !!!.
THE THUNDER WARRIORS ALL DIED IN GLORIOUS BATTLE!
They have to be the most bad ass bodyguards of all time.
love it if you could revisit the fluff on these guys again?
I'm waiting for them in psychic awakening to do a sort of, "where they are now" :)
where's my boy kitten at
About the emotional intelligence of the Adeptus Astartes: Their psyche is being ripped open and broken by psykers or Librarians and they are subject to vast indoctrination.
Was about to watch
However betrayer and master of mankind are next on my list after legion
ItalianS. I know this is off topic but will we see your army at all or will you stick with lore videos?
Yeah absolutely!!
@@italianspartacus Cool.
Please if you haven't do a technology barbarian
They stand head and shoulders above Space marines, they're not really the same size.
Definitely making an army on these guys
fuck yeah brother!
Is there any weaknesses to a custodes other than numbers? They seem like a 1 man necron world engine/hive fleet/30k astartes legion that could single handedly end 3 entire factions and rebuild the imperium to pre heresy with only 50 of them
wyvernfall gaming severe depression due to Big E taking a beating maybe
It has been a while since I have check the lore on the creation of space marines so I maybe wrong here but if I remember correctly the successful transformation is 1/3 of the aspirants.
We have to remember that most space marines home world are usually death world, meaning that they probably do not have billions or even millions of populations on them. So picking up a hundred young adolescent male to create one space marines would cause a huge strain on the capacity to survive on the inhabitants.
I think one in three is more believable. But again It's been a while since I looked at the lore so I perhaps I am making a mistake here.
Custodes aren't Astartes though. Different creation process, no geneseed etc.
Are these guys not back to full numbers now?
They are!
11:45
legionis astartes did not take part in killing of Thunder wariors !
only Custudes where trusted to that degree to do the job and keep silent afterwards !
Hehe I can give you the direct quote when I get home, but it did indeed happen. First Legion prior to becoming the dark angels!
@@italianspartacus well , i can be mistaken , but i was VERY sure that thunder wariors where killed of by custodes only .
@@italianspartacus ok , this is wiki ( not the most reliable source ) , but i imagine they would not make this mistake:
"According to Arik Taranis, the final culling of the Thunder Warriors took place following the victory of the last battle of Unity, and was carried out by the Legio Custodes, the only soldiers in the Imperial armies capable of defeating the Thunder Legion. "
the problem is - there is atleast two versions of the story , one is what i reference , one is what you reference.
I'm definitely open to the correction.. But it's the same shtick as "X legion has the most victories second to Horus" that line is repeated for both the Iron Hands AND Dark Angels.. I think it's just a symptom of a multitude of conflicting sources :(
@@italianspartacus well - that is bigest problem in 40k. more than a few lore books conflict each other , mostly on details . But sometimes in major way .
OK! This the fourth time I've them mentioned, but i have no idea who they are. So I ask, who are the Sisters of Silence?
A girls-only fighting force (kinda like sisters of battle) but they don't have souls. The advantage of not having souls renders all warp based attacks useless or nullified. Basically anti-magic squad. They played a big role in Grandpa Smurf v Magnus the Crimson Smartass on Luna
@@ItsZim0 They are called Blanks. They have a soul it just doesnt interact with the warp. While the average person in the imperium show up as a small presence in the warp. Which attracts the corruputing powers of chaos.
But in this case he made a mistake it was the sisters of battle
Love to know more about ancient terra
it's such a sticky subject, i'm trying to conceive how i'll do that.. it's really dense and filled with ret-cons! but i shall try my best :)
I'm just gonna say it, it was the Custodes decision not Roboutte Guillimans for reformation from the Legio to Adeptus Custodes Guilliman has no power over them or thier decisions
Tell me more about this "White Dwef".
I thought custodes were the progeny of the former warlords and prominent houses of terra, back during the unification war?
some were, not all. i believe i say this during the video that they would often take one of the warlords children as part of a peace treaty
And the emperors children...hence their arrogance
