If they increase the damage reduction then its going to be too broken. They should give it additional perks instead to make it worth while, for example faster stamina regen, higher jumps, speed increase, extra pockets to store items, less weigh , IR lights etc... Cause at least if youre fighting someone with red armor you still have a chance to kill them, but damage reduction is just going to have a negative impact on most of the player base. Red armor are suppose to be expensive and not worth while so that you dont just die and then put on another pair. When you use expensive armor then it should be a tactical decision, for an difficult missions only. As a true fps gamer i need to say this ... Perks are always nice to compensate for something expensive since it makes the game more fun and convenient. But increasing the damage reduction is going to have a negative impact on the majority of communities experience.
That’s a very interesting take tbh… adding additional value to higher tier armor could definitely be very interesting! However some increase in dmg reduction makes perfect sense as well, for example like Tarkov or irl body armor…
They could just do a system similar to Apex Legends. Instead of doing some really bad damage reduction model, they could just do more effective HP by having shield health. Then, if they REALLY wanted to keep the Penetration model, then helmets would affect the aim punch inflicted on someone via headshots. Lower tier penetration = less aim punch than higher tier helmet (e.g. AR-55 = no aim punch on exotic helmet). Shields can be repaired via new consumables probably dubbed “Shield Charger” and “Shield Generator” or the exact same names as Apex Legends (Shield Cell + Shield Battery). This would mean that gas grenades become even stronger because they deal damage straight to health, and regular grenades could be buffed by dealing more damage to shield. Regular grenades would work by doing something like: 50 base dmg, additional 50% damage against shields, and all of this balanced with damage drop-off based on distance away from center of explosion. Additional ways to prevent some crazy grenade stacking like Apex’s past would be to increase weight by 2-5 units each. Higher tier guns could be balanced by having one or more of the following: higher damage, more DPS, less damage drop off, high bullet velocity, less bullet drop, hit-scan, etc.
Why doesn't this game introduce PVE mode? It would be nice to enter the map without other hostile players, so as to become familiar with bots. It would be enough to limit the extraction of the loot to the safe pocket.
