Apologies for the long video! I struggled to cut this one down. I guess the VR6 drive should have been its own video. If you think I should do more of these POV drive type videos, drop a comment here.
That is a perfect stance for the gts. Hope you are well Mr Lakay. This is a treat as you had additional content. Something different something good. Great stuff 💪
Loved the video, thanks Lorenzo. Nothing sounds better than six-cylinder when it revs up. Love the rims on your Dad’s car. Look forward to seeing your content next week. Stay blessed
Yo Bud, awesome video once again. Atleast you had a ball in the Vr6 and you were looking for that more verocious oomph sound hey, and that mk 2 looks very nice hey
I was expecting a little more "voora" but I've learned that with a modified airbox, that sounds will come through better. So I'm curious to hear the difference after the owner modifies it.
I would recommend it for sure. I get it now. It goes well for what it is, but it's the experience. Gotta get it done because fuel is only going up. lol.
VR6T's make really good power and torque and you can make more than enough power on a stock engine. A head spacer and ARP rod bolts then you're golden. Definitely worth it. Not cheap, but a better base than starting with a 4 cylinder.
Thanks Jared. Thanks again for letting me drive your car. I'm looking forward to returning the favour with you experiencing the 1.8T. It doesn't sound nearly as good though :(
Car sounds nice with that VR6 engine but it would had a bit more oomph if the engine was 24valve like the Toyota Cressida 3.0i but im loving the modification and sound awesme!
That VR6 mk2 is pure class. Perfect colour, perfect wheels, and beautiful condition. Engine bay looks lovely as well. The reason it doesnt sound that great through the rev range and isnt pulling that nicely at the top (IMO) is that cone filter (facepalm) ...they sound and perform far better with a modded airbox and drop in filter. Cones on NA VR6's are rubbish! Add to that, I am not a fan of short ratio boxes either because a healthy VR6 pulls perfectly from take off. Yes its not going to launch like a modified 1.8T with semi slicks, but lets compare apples to apples. Then stock VR6's must be donkeys top end, eish, again...what are you comparing them to exactly? My favourite line though "mY CaR L0w BoOsT WoUlD WaLk iT" lol, if the owner had to throw the kind of cash you threw into your 20v there would be no walking sir. Anyways, love your content otherwise lol.
You sound like a true VR6 enthusiast. That's awesome. You're right about the cone filter. The owner will be switching to a airbox soon. He hasn't gotten around to it yet. A stock VR6 is not fast. I don't need to justify this or compare it to anything. Using the word donkey might be offensive but I call my car a donkey even when it's making well over 200kw and chasing down 300kw E30's. My car on low boost would walk it but so would a stock 1.8T swap that would cost less than what the owner spent on this conversion. But like I said, that's not the reason you VR swap. If the owner spent what I have on his conversion, it would be a different ball game. But that wasn't my intent, I tried to get as close to apples to apples by comparing it to my car on wastegate pressure, not full send. I was not trying to belittle the VR6 or the community. It's a great engine and it runs well but I'm a racer and going faster is all that really matters to me right now. Appreciate your comment and I'm glad you enjoy my content otherwise 👍
@@lowdl Firstly, respect for taking time to reply to my comment. VR6's get a bad rap because most owners dont look after them or bugger them up with cone filters etc. Most of the time guys who call them slow etc have never owned or even driven a decent vr6. I mean people dont go around calling 325i or even 325is' slow, yet the performance is similar. But all good man, everyone has their preference. Definitely not a track toy. I think it was the donkey trigger for me lol
@@salesaccount710 yeah, that donkey comment would have pissed me off too. 🙈🤣 Once again, I'm guilty. I also call 325i's slow. I was a NA 16v guy and there's something about beating someone with a bigger engine with less power that has that effect. I think the 2l 8v guys are the the worst with this. Lol. I'd love to add a VR to my garage in future. They are slept on but their values are rocketing like crazy.
I'm curious as to what trickery is happening in the box as it is. It feels pretty short. But thanks for the heads up. Will try to remember that if I go this way.
I don't care much for these POV, drive another man's car, kinda vids. But I was curious about a fellow turbo-man's comparison to the vura. Beautiful Car!
POV videos are not for everyone but I'm glad you enjoyed it. I tried not to make it like a car review because there are lots of those on YT. What would have finished the experience for me is driving both cars back to back, but it was good regardless.
Glad you enjoyed it. 💪🏾 They're not private but it doesn't get promoted so you can join. With the turn out we've been having, need to start getting some promo. lol. There are no meets planned at the moment but dm on IG & I'll let you know.
No kit, mk2 subframe and crossmember with custom mounts. Easier route would be a mk3 gti/vr6 subframe with vr6 mounts then you just need a custom front mount.

Apologies for a long video Mxm,, waited 6days for a upload should been longer lol jokes jokes thanks for upload L L
POV anytime... Apologies? Nah Bru.. the longer the better. Thanx for the lekker content Bru. Big ups
Always loved that low down grunt of a vr6 engine
It sounds fantastic. At the rpm you usually drive at, it's the best. Such a good note. 🤌🏼
These roads are so smooth....damn! Thx 4 sharing
Glad you enjoyed it.
This was a treat! Nothing beats the orchestra of a chain driven motor.
Glad you enjoyed it. That 12v is something.
That is a perfect stance for the gts. Hope you are well Mr Lakay. This is a treat as you had additional content. Something different something good. Great stuff 💪
That's really good to hear. Glad you enjoyed this. It probably won't happen often but hopefully I can find my groove with it.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Having a 6 cylinder in a Golf really is something else.
The GTS is looking good on the Imolas. The man has style. ;)
Thank you enjoyed it. Vr6 sound playing in my head. 😁
It still plays in my head almost a week later. It's so iconic.
Hi Lorenzo. The GTS Looks great with those immolas. Perfect !!! Keep up the content Brother...
Thanks Jon. Loving the Imolas on there 😬
I'm moving to Cpt next week and I'm super excited to see these mk2s in the flesh!!

I have considered swapping a VR6 into my mk2 several times , but this video just does it for me 😍 . I'm sold 🥴 .

Yes the 24v has a bit more power but it doesn't sound quite as good as the 12v engine unfortunately.

Vr6 break upgrade is the easiest way. Flatfour apparently has the conversion kit(+-1500), as well as a guy in JHB.
I need to check with Flat4 to see what they've got. Heard they've got good hubs that pre drilled for both pcd's.
A 2y gearset and final drive in that VR6 and the experience will be much more exciting

Those tsw rims come correct on the gts 👌
They do. Imolas are timeless.

21:55 i get you.
Needs a little more "voora" lol.
Fast!!!
the 50 odd kw difference between a 12v and a 3.2 is more than made up for by that intake noise
I had to watch a R32 POV drive to hear what you're saying. 50kw is a lot to sacrifice but that 12v intake noise is so much better!
Vr6 for sound... Is this a 3L?
It's a 2.8 as far as we're aware.
Did the owner disclose power figures to you?
It hasn't been on the dyno yet. I will feedback dyno numbers as soon as I've got it. I would guess 135-140kw. But my butt dyno could be off a bit.
🔥

This engin from mk3 ?
Yes that's correct. The 2.8 from a VR6.
what cams you runing
The VR6 has 268 cams in it.
