@PaperMan yes, it could have been that. I myself don't believe in such entities nor do I believe in other paranormals. But I believe my uncle, whether it was a reality or just a figment of his imagination, I know he definitely had that experience.
You know, it's usually people who believe this stuff the most who will swear that what they see is what they believe. It's a common psychological thing. When I was young, I used to believe in ghosts. I was crazy about all of these ghost stories. When you are very mentally inclined to believe this stuff, then it's not hard for your brain to automatically associate anything that you cannot explain to that thing you believe in. At the time I swear that I could hear voices whispering in the dark, I could see faces or flashing movement in the dark, or hear footsteps at night. Now that I'm a grown up, I don't believe any of this anymore, thus I don't have anymore "paranormal" or unexplainable encounters. @@adrianradu2332 Its said everybody has a ghost story. I have two, both can be explained away. When I was twelve and living in Germany I took our dog out for a nightly walk during a dry thunderstorm. There was a small forest on a hill about two miles away that always caught my attention. That night the inside of it was light up like is was filled with strobing searchlights. Year later I learned I had witnessed an unusually large ball lightening display. In 1995 I went to a local diner and had a glass of water while waiting for my meal. I set the glass down after taking a drink. A minute later it moved four or five inches. I had drunk half the contents and the glass was covered in dense condensation. The AC had just come on and one of the vents was next to and directed towards my table, a perfect storm to move that glass without human assistance. Still, seeing things like this do make you wonder, eh?
It’s been nice watching your channel grow Doctor, I remember the first video of yours I watched and it’s been a pleasure seeing your channel grow and your animation become better and better.

Additional info as so we thought the lower half is vulnerable think again, even though it was lacking of eyes the lower half have a really keen sensitive sense if a threat is approaching it moves away from 1 spot to another safe and secured distance its like the upper half leaving a mark trail for the other half to follow it even ran to escape its pursuers, but once it’s cornered a defense mechanism will be activate depending on the situation 1st defense it emits a really strong foul smell like an ammonia once inhale it feels like your lungs is burning other effects are nausea and wooziness if that doesn’t work 2nd defense will be activated if the pursuers still coming close it secrit like acid substance from its guts it always aims for the eyes nose and mouth so it can ran away again, if that still doesn’t work the 3rd and final defense will now be an offense the intestines are moving like a tentacled whip lashes all over its range and chases its pursuer in some occasions the lower half leaps from the ground and lunges to the poor victim after the 3rd defense is activated it wrapped around its legs bind it by its guts and pour an over flowing acidic like blood on its victim so the victim will scream in agony for the “Manananggal” get its attention, the manananggal doesn’t always aims for pregnant women they also hunts children elderly or drunk men who are vulnerable to fight back, there’s a different kind of hunting method of a manananggal but that’s another story thank you for this SCP
The reality is pregnant woman in our country put a whole garlic on the top of their bellybutton before they sleep. If the garlic changed to color similar to an onion ,smelled like burning tire and rotten meat it means the manananggal tried to eat the baby.
"The Manananggal seeks human flesh" As well as many, many, MANY other SCPs. If it isn't already, it's turning into a cliché. Wish more SCPs wouldn't just specifically target humans.
I’m kinda surprised this wasn’t downvoted to non-existence. Usually, having so many cliches and myths be true about a creature (kill it with a bamboo stake, repel it with holy objects, etc) will cause most other SCP writers and reviewers to not like it.
Huh. Never thought the SCP community will make the manananggal into a SCP anomaly, I am sooooo honoured mabuhay!. Edit: I was waiting for your pronunciation, and I am not complaining you pretty nailed the pronouncing of the name.
This is true ... Encountered SCP 5201 when I am still a baby in the 1990's, my father tried to repel the attack using a katana. 🤣 Good thing the SCP foundation and the Supernatural Committee of the Philippines, eradicated most of them. But a few instances still manage to exist in the wild though, rumors still circulating. 😰
This myth is widespread around southeast asia. As a Malaysian, This creature is called The Menanggal which means Detached or To Detach. The story is of a woman who was about to be burned at the stake who asked for help from a witch, and the witch gave her a potion that needed time to take effect. She drank it to late and it only took effect to her head to her stomach. Everything else was burned away. Now she is cursed to roam the land by day as a normal woman but by night she leaves her body and flies using her hair like wings for pregnant women or newborns to devour the blood of.
Damn dr bob, I’m really getting goosebumps by your sophisticated way of telling stories It’s nothing ordinary, it sounds like you’re talking about a legend with the lips of an angel The words you use The sentences you form, purely amazing
13:10 wow I'm currently watching the Grimm series and today I saw an episode about this very creature. They called it the aswang. It's around s3e14 if anyone's curious
Fun fact: the name Manananggal is derived from the word "Tanggal"... which is "remove / to remove" or "separate / to separate" in Tagalog. Roughly translated, mananaggal means "separator"... One more thing the SCP foundation can use to counter these creatures is to wear a garlic wreath or equivalent. Like vampires, they're afraid of the purifying effect of garlic. Some accounts say they're also afraid of bronze and scythes so that might be able to help kill them if needed. Holy Water also works against them I think these Mananggals are probably the Philippine's equivalent to the Indonensian Penanggalan Anyway, it would be difficult to fully contain SCP-5201 because there is actually a ritual that allows a person to willingly turn in to one. All I know about it is that it involves a "special ointment" and finding a black chick... and a particular incantation I do not know... but once completing the ritual, a person can become one of them
I am a Filipino,i always watch your videos and always waiting for another up coming videos every day,and i always imagine if our country have a scp in your videos,so when i saw this i was so happy thank youuu i hope more videos to come my idolo✨(idol)
Used to sleepover at my cousin's house, that time my cousin's wife was pregnant. And they had garlands of raw garlic around the windows to deter these creatures.
This Philippine demon is surprisingly easy to eradicate. The required items for killing this entity is not even that difficult to obtain. The only time-consuming part is searching for the lower half. Even back then, a mob of people would search for this monster and kill it by all means. It's no surprise that their appearances ran thin throughout the years.
Well, the SCP foundation were lucky that these creatures didn't form underground organizations of their own much like in the Trese comics. I lost my shit reading the books and saw large groups of Manananngal armed with M-16 rifles going into gang wars with other monsters.
No This stories made to scare pregnant women and learn lessons for how they keep their fetuses away and they're sleep in room that are having everything closed in door well
I don't care the culture; when a woman is pregnant, she needs help with household chores more than ever. One wrong move and there's no telling what might happen.
Although SCPs are not real and are just make-believe, some mythical creatures here in the Philippines are known to be real but they can't be seen by a human's naked eye like the "Dwende" known as elves. Or the "Kapre" known as the giants that live in trees, especially big ones. There are many more like the "Sirena" or mermaids, the "Tikbalang" or the half man-half horse, "Sigbin" and the "Siyokoy" which is similar to a merman but has a fish-like appearance. Many Filipinos believe in these mythical creatures especially old people.
Funny, I just watched a mythology video about this monster a few days ago. Do you have these moments when you learn something new and soon after that thing appears in conversation or in a youtube recommendation?
I remember someone telling me this story when I was 6 years old. I brought it up to a couple people when I got older. They didn't know what I was talking about.

She is one of the reasons I used to sleep early and don't go out at dark in my childhood.
Another beautifully animated SCP video from Dr. Bob
First time seeing bob making videos from Philippines❤❤
My weekly Dr Bob and Jimmyhere help get me through living. Thanks Doc!
0:50 managgal is a urban legent of philipines
Dr Bob really puts you in the fray. Love it.
Finally Doctor Bob explaiend Philippine Mythology I'm a big fan Dr. Bob
Outstanding as always thanks Dr Bob!🙂👍
It’s been nice watching your channel grow Doctor, I remember the first video of yours I watched and it’s been a pleasure seeing your channel grow and your animation become better and better.
Dr_bob: thanks
i remember watching you when you only had around 100k subs
Its absolutely insane to see that 1.09 million now
The animation of it feeding on fetus is very horrifying and gut-wrenching to watch despite being goreless.
Thank you Dr. Bob for this fantastic work
You made me scared of manananggal again!
If only i didn't know that it's a fake cryptid in my country, i might become paranoid and have nightmares of it.
I know about this legend thanks to an art competition I was in. It gave me an entire mythology research phase that lasted over half a year.
As a Filipino fan I'm honoured that the famous folklore in the Philippines got a place in the scp foundation
I'm so happy you made a video about this Filipino SCP. You should make a video about SCP 3906 next
Nice i’m finally not weeks late to new scps coming out.
The reality is pregnant woman in our country put a whole garlic on the top of their bellybutton before they sleep. If the garlic changed to color similar to an onion ,smelled like burning tire and rotten meat it means the manananggal tried to eat the baby.
As a Filipino American, this is probably one of the reasons I’m scared to visit my home country 😂😅
you should be more worried about the thieves here
@@hectorsumaoang2320 double trouble they say
Yeah, here, you only have to worry about Wendigo and Will O'Wisps.
Wendigos does not exist here in the Philippines. They live in cold places (if they are real).
In Mars is safe no monsters exist heheh
The Old woman's face was more terrifying than the main monster LMAO
I love scps where actual real life stuff gets tied into them.
Here's some examples:
SCP-3166
SCP-5167
SCP-024
SCP-2863
SCPs it looks like a name of real monsters that exists in our reality world
Oh cool yeah that's our SCP here in the Philippines
"The Manananggal seeks human flesh"
As well as many, many, MANY other SCPs. If it isn't already, it's turning into a cliché. Wish more SCPs wouldn't just specifically target humans.
Backrooms is better
@@aTypicalMushroom Marvel > DC > Anime > SCP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Backrooms
Tower of babel was one that didn't target humans. That was neat
@@RUclipscommenthighlights Anime 🤮
I think it's probably bc they're trying to be scary/creepy and humans are mor frightened of things that predate on them directly
Wow since I'm Filipino so this is completely accurate
Oh, dude you this best SCP guy I know. Keep up the work
man scp foundation really bringing our mythical creatures from the philippines
Some are actually real just saying.
I’m kinda surprised this wasn’t downvoted to non-existence. Usually, having so many cliches and myths be true about a creature (kill it with a bamboo stake, repel it with holy objects, etc) will cause most other SCP writers and reviewers to not like it.
Not some of us
Probably because its of Filipino origins and they tend to upvote and invade anything and everything mentioning the Philippines
Evidence, look at the comments
Maybe they are too fed with with end of the world causing unkillable and uncontainable God like SCPs that these are breathe of fresh air.
No one uses that cliche anymore, so if no one is using it due to it being a “cliche”, is it really one still?
The "louder when far away/quieter when close" is called the Doppler affect. Just so we all are on the same page
Like when you hear an ambulance or other emergency vehicles
You know it's a good day when Dr. Bob uploads a new video
I remember watching an episode based in this creature in a HBO show about Asian folklore. Quite instructive.
Man, whenever the SCP Foundation works with the GOC, I'm left to wonder whether it was really that bad or was it safe enough to call in the GOC
As a Filipino watching this, I'm pretty happy
A Filipino horror classic, I'm pure Filipino, and I feel somewhat proud that a legend from my country is an SCP
1:00 "She spend to much time gossiping with the other village women's"
Me: Ayy nag Chismis sila mga Marites
Huh. Never thought the SCP community will make the manananggal into a SCP anomaly, I am sooooo honoured mabuhay!.
Edit: I was waiting for your pronunciation, and I am not complaining you pretty nailed the pronouncing of the name.
this guy helps us with the facts if scps were real
This is true ...
Encountered SCP 5201 when I am still a baby in the 1990's, my father tried to repel the attack using a katana. 🤣
Good thing the SCP foundation and the Supernatural Committee of the Philippines, eradicated most of them.
I wonder why I get the urge to watch DR Bob during the night
Damn dr bob, I’m really getting goosebumps by your sophisticated way of telling stories
It’s nothing ordinary, it sounds like you’re talking about a legend with the lips of an angel
The words you use
The sentences you form, purely amazing
13:10 wow I'm currently watching the Grimm series and today I saw an episode about this very creature. They called it the aswang. It's around s3e14 if anyone's curious
16:40
Looking like a pair of Balmonts there!
The Manananggal is actually a real legend in the Philippines. I can confirm this because i am actually from the Philippines.
It's real!?
@@Twistedwonderlandlover yeah why?
@@dinosaurpick3909 I had no idea it was real
Fun fact: the name Manananggal is derived from the word "Tanggal"... which is "remove / to remove" or "separate / to separate" in Tagalog. Roughly translated, mananaggal means "separator"...
One more thing the SCP foundation can use to counter these creatures is to wear a garlic wreath or equivalent. Like vampires, they're afraid of the purifying effect of garlic. Some accounts say they're also afraid of bronze and scythes so that might be able to help kill them if needed. Holy Water also works against them
I think these Mananggals are probably the Philippine's equivalent to the Indonensian Penanggalan
Anyway, it would be difficult to fully contain SCP-5201 because there is actually a ritual that allows a person to willingly turn in to one.
Been here since 300k subs, and I still love your videos man. Keep delving as far as you can into the SCP Foundations Classified Archives.
I love how he bring the monster from other cultures
I like it when your telling the story, and then all of a sudden the heavy metal is playing in the backgroubackground🤘
Used to sleepover at my cousin's house, that time my cousin's wife was pregnant. And they had garlands of raw garlic around the windows to deter these creatures.
Counter in mananangal is gun with copper bullet, copper machete, bamboo with sharp tip, salt and garlic
While watching and listening I feel like this SCP program totally exist
As A Filipino, These stories are made to scare children and learn lessons 😁
Until they declare martial law once they become president...
No This stories made to scare pregnant women and learn lessons for how they keep their fetuses away and they're sleep in room that are having everything closed in door well
It made to scare pregnant women not children
I don't care the culture; when a woman is pregnant, she needs help with household chores more than ever. One wrong move and there's no telling what might happen.
It’s a good day when you get a briefing from dr Bob
I'm a huge fan of u Dr.Bob. I am honored that our Filipino folklore is now part of SCP.
I wonder if there is an SCP file on Biringan city.
This was my actual nightmare back then at the Philippines
This is so sick. Our shape shifter has gone international. I wonder how the other entities can be added since majority of them are elemental.
1:00 that's actually very accurate it's very common here in Philippines, you can literally see womens talking about something everywhere. xd
Facts
Funny, I just watched a mythology video about this monster a few days ago. Do you have these moments when you learn something new and soon after that thing appears in conversation or in a youtube recommendation?
I remember someone telling me this story when I was 6 years old. I brought it up to a couple people when I got older. They didn't know what I was talking about.
I had a feeling the old woman had something to do with the SCP given her mannerisms.
Una sa scotland, ngayon sa Philippines. Ninanakaw talaga ang folklore namin ang SCP.
What??
Most of the filipino house it have a window that do not hove glass becose thay dont have money to buy so they just leave it alone
Never thought that filipino folklore will be on the scp foundation
Let's be thankful that the worm tongue doesn't fish its way down the other end 💀
Chotto matte
💀💀
this scp pretty much just saves people from burning themselves out
thanks!
Imagine if the scp foundation is real it’s just seen as fiction
the gossiping part was on point lol
