It should be fairly simple, I believe when I plugged in the usb of the wheel to the computer it automatically detected it in the game and you can adjust the settings. Also there's a "Logitech G Hub" that you can install on your computer to adjust settings too
For American truck simulator my sterring wheel is not working I try connect it to the game setting in ATS
Every other thing working buh not the steering wheel
One cool thing I like to do when starting up the trucks in this game is put it in reverse and put the parking brake on to make it sound like the air is building up and the reverse sound sounds like the beeping noise it makes when waiting
Also that's a good idea. I'm going to try out the new Air Brake mod from Zeemods in my next video
One thing about pulling these trailers is your truck stays dirty but they look so good hooked up together. A 379 Pete will make any trailer look as good as it possibly can!

Another good Jake Brake option is the Cummins N14 from Zeemods available on STEAM
I come back to this video from time to time, when i first watched this, i didn't even know mods existed for ATS, I had been playing for about 3 weeks ... now a year later, I've probably spent around 300USD (on sound truck, graphic, and trailer mods) and 850+hours playing this game. Big thanks to HL for always responding to my questions & for always letting us know what mods he's running.

Great looking rig HL, your gonna get that nice shiny chrome trailer all dusty on that dirt road. The Cummins N14 always had the best sounding Jake Brake in my opinion. Did you ever use any of Seeker's mod's, he had a 335 Cummins, best sounding mod I ever heard. I really like how you can switch the Sim Dashboard to a full size GPS. I really need to take the time and test it out, maybe after Christmas I'll get to do that. Good stuff buddy, stay safe out there.

I think you'll like the Sim Dashboard a lot when you get it hooked up.....my "extended" Christmas project is to work on building a real Eaton Fuller Shifter (will likely take a few weeks) but should be an awesome addition!
@@HammerLane79 I don't believe it works anymore, he hasn't updated it for awhile but the sounds you have are very good, no complaints on my end.
I really want to buy a old 379 Peterbuilt cab and make a real Simulator with doors and air ride seats and seatbelts. Just have 3-4 monitors for the windows. It would be sick!
That would be an awesome build! Check out "MrPete379" and "Southern Trucker Gaming" for some ideas....they both built simulators somewhat along those lines.

This is a wheel mod called "Alcoa Huge Wheels" or something along those lines.....it's an older mod but it seems to still work great on the newest 1.39 game version. It should be on the common mod sites but I don't think it's in STEAM.

For ATS I'm only using the joystick for moving the camera around. For FS19 I use it for operating the loader on a tractor. I'm working on an updated setup so I should be able to show it more in a few weeks.

There's a good video by Armstrong Gaming that walks through how to set it up, that's what I used to learn how to use it.

In the settings you can assign it to a button on either your keyboard or steering wheel, you can also set buttons to increase/decrease the intensity.....I think the setting is called Engine Brake

JDBassin the wheels are a separate mod, I think they're called "Alcoa Huge Wheels" or something like to that. It's an older mod but I haven't had any issues using it on the 1.39 game version!

It may be because most drivers float gears when shifting....they don't use the clutch so they have to give it a little throttle for the gears to engage but not enough throttle to blow smoke

STEAM has some good mods that seem fairly reliable and are very easy to "subscribe to" and use.....other than that there's a few common mod sites if you search for "ATS Mods" but those are more complicated to load into the game than Steam. There's a few videos on YT that walk you through the steps to load those type of mods into the game that I referenced in the past that helped me learn.
The truck in this video was called 389 Long Hood and it should be on most of the external mod sites

Anton thanks for watching. That's a good question, I did the video a little while back and don't remember anymore. The East trailer is available on Steam....normally the trailer only has loads in select cities so you could probably narrow it down by which loads it offers in Colorado.
How did you attach the splitter to the shifter? Is it difficult to disassemble and install?
Ethan, I did it over a year ago but if I remember correctly I had to take out the 2 screws in the splitter to open it up and then I flipped the switches so they'd work in the opposite direction (not sure if it originally was for trucks with the driver on the right side?). Then I took some black electrical tape and wrapped it a few times on the shifter rod and then jammed the splitter down on it.
I know this sounds like a hack job but it hasn't budged or had any issues in over a year (knock on wood!) with regular use including fast shifts in racing games. The way I did it you can't see the tape so I'm happy with it
I think I read that if you have a Logitech shifter you won't need the tape since it's not technically designed to work on the Thrustmaster

Love your setup I drive a w900 with a c15 and an 18 speed. just bought this game today and its already fun with just a mouse and keyboard can't wait for my setup to come in.
@@E30_Ethan nice that's an awesome truck combo you're driving. There's a few real drivers on here who play the game....I recently saw a picture of a driver with a Volvo who put a simulator in the back of his sleeper!

That's a good question.....I did see there's a button on my tablet for changing this but I've never tried....I'll have to check the next time I play that game. I do know that the Jake wasn't cooperating on dirt well in this video.....You can hear a few times where it was skidding as soon as I engaged it!
I checked and there's 3 different levels of Jake Brake......I can set the different levels on my tablet to be always on when I let off the throttle or if I manually turn it on with a switch on my steering wheel it's defaulting to the highest setting
That's good to hear, I always disliked how the Jake's sound at low speeds in this game due to how aggressive they are.

Someone commented on another video yesterday that I shift way too early and should be winding it out to 2500 rpm before I shift
@@HammerLane79 1200-1500 rpm is where you should be shifting. a lot of these engines in real life can't even rev out to 2500.

Hey lane my peterbilt 387 or 389 day cab mortals m11 cummins mod has no sound, I transferred the pack to my mod manager an bought the engine but when I go to start the truck there’s no sound but the environment
Throttle Pilot I haven't used Mortal's in a while but it's possible that's an older mod that doesn't work on the new 1.39 game version. I've been using both Kriechbaum and Robinicus without issue recently.....maybe give those a try

Frosty, thanks for watching. I believe it's only available for PC
It's not a very demanding game so a mid-level PC can handle it just fine as long as you back down the graphic settings.....you don't need a huge gaming PC to enjoy it!
