i'm so glad as a kid i became a Madrid supporter because i loved Zidane. i endured the years where every other football fan i knew loved Barcelona because of Messi and all their success in the late 2000s/early 2010s and Madrid were struggling. but i stayed loyal and patient and now i get to celebrate this level of success so often. nothing makes me happier than watching this team win.

At this point, many people are tired of seeing Real Madrid win the champions league and how they do it year in year out. There has to be aura around the club and a high level of resilience from the players in these situations. They have the right attitude that you want from a football club as the players have seen it all and won everything, they just want even more. They’re the greatest club in football history having won 15 European titles, no team has won more champions league titles then them since the 2013-14 season as Real Madrid have won 6 UCLs in the last 11 years meanwhile no team has won it more than once during this period or have gone back to back and they haven’t lost a final since 1981. Florentino Perez has been the mastermind behind their European success and it’s down to the way that this club has been ran as no matter who’s there whether it’s the players or the manager, they always win. Even after all of their legends have left, they’re still winning the Champions League. The players on that team fare about winning and they fight for the badge and give 110% unto the final whistle and nobody can replicate this winning mentality. Let’s keep talking about refs and how they always favor them because if it’s all about referees, why do they keep winning the champions league more than any team right now. Even after Ronaldo left Real Madrid, they have won 2 more champions league titles and the season after Benzema left, these guys still won the champions league despite having so many injuries and they didn’t even have a proper striker. If it wasn’t for those 2 defeats to Atletico Madrid they would’ve won an unbeaten treble as they only lost 1 game in both La Liga and the Champions League and they’re the only team they’ve lost to this season. They are built different and whether you like them or not it doesn’t matter, because at the end of the day they’re dominating Europe and you have to accept that.
When it comes to facing them in the champions league, it’s difficult to play against them and while you can open them up and create a lot of chances, they’re capable of punishing you when you’re wasteful and don’t take your opportunities away against them. This has been the same script that has played out for Real Madrid over and over again and it always works for them. And that’s what we saw from Borussia Dortmund yesterday after their excellent performance in the 1st half. It’s true that they’ve over performed in a sense that other teams can be better than them and they’d still, when it comes to knockout football, there’s always something special about Real Madrid which is why writing them off is a mistake as you don’t need to be the better team to win games. No matter how many times they suffer you can’t write them off.

You cannot compare European sports to American sports. American professional sports are not necessarily entirely based on meritocracy, but rather it rewards poor performance. If you finish last in any of the professional sports in the USA, you get the number one college draft pick in the next season. There is no relegation or promotion system. It is not meritocracy based, so you cannot compare Real Madrid to any professional US sports team. Teams in the NFL , MLB, and NBA sometimes play to lose towards the end of the season so as to have better college draft picks. And fan loyalty is skin deep. Imagine moving your professional team to a different city and state because of better tax and stadium deals? It happens on a regular frequency in the USA. I believe if a European football team tried that, their fans would not take it well at all. It would be considered a treasonous act that cannot go unpunished, they take that seriously and as mortal insult that can’t be forgiven. 😎😉… they take fan loyalty to serious levels unfamiliar to Americans. So European football team owners would NEVER contemplate moving their teams to another city for financial benefit s…. They know their fans!

i think is insulting to compare real madrid to the yankees because real madrid is repeatedly winning a tournament that happens across an entire continent.

Real Madrid are great but they have been helped greatly by the spainsh goverment, the disparity in wealth in spanish clubs makes the league anti competitive( only 9 different winners of laliga in history compared to to 24 in epl), they basically qualify every year for the champions league without any resistance. In EPL recent CL winners such as liverpool and chelsea didnt even qulalify. Spain only has two big clubs who will continue to dominate without any challenge thus maintaining the satus quo. (Maybe only one now with barca problems). In Epl a club like Man Utd can fall off a cliff even if they have loads of money becouse the other teams also have money and can overtake them.
