So glad ifound this on RUclips. I'm looking at buying a 68, a little older than yours but still love it. Thanks for the useful info on places to shop for parts.
Brings back memories. I had about a 4 year journey with one of these and invested about 10 grand in it and it was still only about half of what I wanted it to be. Hindsight being 20-20, I could have spent a few thousand more and got one with less rust and less problems and would have enjoyed it a heck of a lot more. Wagoneers are awesome but they were rusty and leaky even when they were newer. I'll never buy one again - not because I don't absolutely love, love love them, but because trendiness has caused them to cost much more than what they are actually worth. Good luck my friend! May it be awesome when you get done with it!
Always have loved these as well, along with the older ramchargers, and scouts. Had a 69 a while back that I wish I would have held onto and restored. The thing was a head turner.
I love these jeeps. I remember when everyone hated them and they were not so popular. And there were many around. It’s getting harder to find them in good shape.
I am impressed! He smelled us from 30'! what does that say about our hygiene? Ok, extra points if you get the quote. Great video. you have too much time and money. I hesitate to say the first assumption, but bro, how did you manage the still animation? That takes serious time! Ok, maybe you're that guy who does that perfectionist stuff and makes it look easy. I don't know. Anyway...watched both videos and I wish I had your life and your Pugs. Love Pugs!! Honest review: You never mention the year or the engine size. Make stuff like that easy for us noobs so we don't have to dig to find out. I'm currently looking at a 79 and am absolutely torn. it's a one owner barn find...but, damn its rough. Ok, total homage and honor to the vids...for RUclips, its work of art...hell, its a work of art period.
Amazing video I just picked up a 1984 wagoneer for 850 bucks after my lesabre I was working on dumped all its coolant and seized no ac and the all the none of the windows work lol but this makes me see a lot of potential in it
Got an '88 Blue with the Sand interior that I am hoping to fully restore as you are... already had the engine, transmission and transfer case all taken care of previously... added MSD ignition and a higher performance cam.... stainless 3" exhaust with flowmaster cat and muffler... also has a sunroof and other stuff... I want it to be my retirement project for restoration in the next three to five years.... had it for almost 25 years now and LOVE that truck!!
Ya man! I love the videos... I am feeling a bit in over my head right now... I have a friend who is a mechanic who is doing all the work for me for the most part... I have a straight 6 and he is adding the fuel injection and pulling the seats and getting the front two reupholstered. I feel like it needs some body work, but first things first we have to have get it running right and functional! adding a keyless entry and dynamat as well. also I saw a really cool mod where people take the middle armrest out and put in a ford explorer console... gotta have the cup holders for the every day car! I got an 84 and only 70k miles!
I am carpenter so your videos are already amazing, the fact that you are a jeep guy (and a FSJ guy too) is awesome! Great quality videos, you should have much more views and subs than you have!!
I have an '84 Grand Wagoneer with only 88,000+ on the clock and am following your restoration. I've taken a break from my efforts due to some health issues but try to do what I can as often as I can. I wonder, what type and where did you get the rubber wheel to remove the vinyl wood grain? It's been fun and I have a nice 3 car garage to work in but with all of the kids 'stuff' stored inside, it's a bit hard getting to things. Thanks for the videos. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of them. BTW, I live about 50 miles from the Wagonmaster.
Excellent, what a cool project to take on with your kid, and congratulations on having luck with the fertility stuff, we hit jackpot with boy and girl twins here and it's the greatest feeling, love for life in the universe PLUS absolute faith in and thankfullness for the scientifically advanced civilization we are part of. Anyway, have fun, thanks for sharing all this, and Keep on trucking ! (from France)
HI there, I drive a 1985 Jepp GW. Great videos. Got some inspirations. You say you installed a full injection system. Would you say that was worth while? Did it make a difference in fuel consumption and most of all the way the engine start? Thanks for the feedback.
Capt Cooper my main concern was having it start and not having to deal with a carb. I don’t really track fuel consumption. It was worth it to me to drop the carburetor and have a more reliable start after not using it for a week or 2
@@HamptonRutland Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to answer. Makes sense... mine, too, gets a bit upset not being driven for some time and shows it by starting slow...
You know i've never seen a youtube video on removing a human kidney, you could be the first! I remember a friend of mine when I was 16 o 17 (1976 or 77) taking me for a ride in his parents wagoneer and domonstrating the independent rear suspension on a mountain road and scaring the crap out of me. Wagoneers are awesome.
subbed ! i just bought a grand wagoneer to. looks rough outside, no rust just faded paint and vinyl. inside its not to bad. Did you find a new roofliner for yours, if yes where from? looking forward to see what you do to it
Hey there, Hampton! I'm excited to share this with some Wagoneer fans (over 4,000 of them to be exact). Quick fix side note - you might want to change "Wagoner" to "Wagoneer" in the title of your video. ;) I look forward to watching (and sharing) your progress. Wag on! - Katie
Like the way ya think I might be getting one and it idles and that but looks like crap, but agreed running right first then looks. It idles, but when ya touch throttle it dies so imma have to get fuel filter and drop tank check carb all that. Gives me hope thx man😂
All My Cash? All Makes Combined? American Muscle Car? (╹◡╹。) I'm impressed that you managed to get a fuel injection system for this even if it is throttle body only. I kind of have an idea for a destroked 401 in the future to modify an Edelbrock manifold with specific machining to enable the setup for MPFI. I just can't get along with having a carb or throttle body that leans out far end cylinders even slightly. You did a great job to start.
thanks I have a 1987 grand wagoneer, the thrust bearing went out on it and the crank started chipping the block so looks like we need a new create motor.
congratulations man. I bought one four months ago. 1985 red. six in line 4.6 litre. I want to restore it . made in México by VAM Rambler. Renault dealer sold it brand new.
The Wagoneer was 1963-1983, then in 1984 Jeep renamed the Wagoneer the Grand Wagoneer, which is the title it carried through the end of production in 1991 (all the SJ model). In 1984, they reused the Wagoneer name on the smaller XJ style Jeep.
@@waltmoore3095 there was a 2-door version of the Wagoneer through the mid-60's. The name Cherokee was used from 1974-1983, and there was even a 4-door version of the Cherokee as well.
It might be an idiot behavior at the surface but to the trained eye this is actually a good investment for the poorly aging and leaky valve cover system. Gives you the chance to look at the valvetrain, bolt in new pushrods and rolling rockers, undo 35+ years of yucky OEM gasket seal with a fresh cork, put in new rubber for the PCV system and more importantly, makes any leaks in this portion much easier to detect. Shiny isn't the wise investment but it definitely marks this work as DONE and allows you to move on to the next portion.
"Henry and I". Sorry about the Grammar Nazi thing, but "me and someone" is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Nice looking vehicle, and I"m looking forward to the rest of the series.

Monkey Slayer man I really appreciate that. I put a lot of time and thought into the video and the Jeep. It’s a 1987 wagon with 146k miles.
Most startling video intro ever. Then, one of the most bizarre music transitions. Props!
You keep saying "wagoneer". A wagoneer is a different vehicle. That is a GRAND wagoneer. Jeesh! :)
What assholes would unlike this video! It's fantastic! Great job on the quality, effects and editing! Oh, and the car looks awesome too :)
This is awesome! Just picked up my first waggy as well, an 89. Looking forward to following along.

I'm really considering buying an 88 for sale down the road, the only problem is the rust on the bottom, how much did the shop charge to clean it up?
It's hard to say, it was just added to the labor total with everything else. I really could t say

Great video series. What kind of camera setup do you use?
Lyman Page I use 2 Sony a7s for the video
Where did you find the custom cut hood liner for under the hood?

looks good though. hope to see more of the Wagoneer.
