    Scorsese is known for many things, but no one talks about how he makes great courtroom scenes. This, Goodfellas, Casino and The Irishman all have great courtroom scenes

    • @hamiltoncrete6741

      @Wes McGee Courtroom hearings and Senate hearings abide by the same set of rules. You can be indicted and sentenced if proven guilty. The only difference is most senate hearings, especially famous ones, are more open to the public. To say this is far from a courtroom is not even close to correct.

      @punkhop23 4 года назад +2

      uh no sorry, there is only one good courtroom scene and that is in the film "My cousin Vinny". everything else as entertaining as it is accurate compared to my cousin vinny.

      @@jon8004 This scene was really good because of the cinematography and editing. Most of them are because of the acting. The screenplay matters but not if the characters aren't believable.

    • @hamiltoncrete6741
      @hamiltoncrete6741 4 года назад +8

      @@jon8004 The shaky leg, swooping camera, angles, camera moving between the masses, the lighting, the black to white transitions even showing his skeleton for a brief moment. These are all cinematography and editing choices which make this scene what it is. If you were trying to make the case for Primal Fear or A Few Good men, then I would agree but not for this film. Robert Richardson is one of the best cinematographers ever.

    I always loved how this film gradually increases in visual style along with film photography itself. It begins in black and white, gradually a few simple color strips are introduced and finally it's full blown Technicolor. It's a really clever way of portraying a passage of time and a crucial time for innovation.

    I sat next to Alan Alda on our way to Beijing in 2003. We were in Business Class. He had the aisle seat, I had the window. We exchanged small talk and I told him how I watched M.A.S.H. growing up. Later I ran into him the next day at the St Regis hotel breakfast. He stopped at my table and in front of the folks I was eating with said, "Good Morning Brad, how'd you sleep." I'll never forget that. There are certain memories I will hold dear forever. As far as Israel. Our support of them costs us 3 billion dollars every year and we get very little if nothing valuable in return. The unseen costs are our sour relationships with middle eastern countries simply because of our support for them. This results in higher oil prices which is hard on middle class which hurts us. In fact our foreign aid to all countries needs to stop. I single out Israel because our support of them since 1947 has cost us dearly in dollars and diplomatic relationships. Our nation is broke. One of my favourite DiCaprio roles for sure. It's funny that he won an oscar for The Revenant, that is far from his best roles. Not that he did a bad job with The Revenant, but the role just didn't allow any complex acting. It was just a very uncomfortable role with lot's of crawling in the mud. The thing that makes Howard Hughes role stand out, is that DiCaprio is physically very different from Hughes who was tall and with strong physique. DiCaprio looked more like a skinny boy next to real Hughes, but he played the role so well that the physical difference part didn't mean much.
