Has Jeff Schildroth ever done a full instructional he seems very unique.
Greco is like a no-gi judo in many ways. What an awesome sport.
I think Greco is one of the best forms of takedowns for self defense. Who wants to drop in and shoot a double on concrete, linoleum, pavement, etc. That detail about stepping through the legs. I will definitely be trying that.
Would be good to combine with muay thai. Clinch work is underrated in fights. Thai boxers like to trip from the clinch.
Just remember that the double leg is so effective that judo banned it from competition.

Double leg is great. Judokas stand tall so they're an easy double leg target. BJJ guys expect it, so ill be trying this my next roll 👍
Someone who’s a dog
you can do other double legs and etc without touching floor though.
This is awesome, love how the videos aren’t stretched over 10 mins. We need more Greco content! ❤️
Poor attention span? Are you ecstatic if the videos were 60 seconds? 😂
@Vincent Lee anyone who hit the like to that is under 30
Man this is EXACTLY what I needed. I'm a rusty old Greco boy doing BJJ in his late 30s, this is right down my alley. Thanks Jeff! Much love from Australia!
Late 30’s suck!! I got injured after 10 months of consistent bjj. Slowly getting back to the gym to build up strength and endurance before getting back to the academy. Good luck buddy
Coach Disco Jeff treating that life-on-easy-mode Chadam to a taste of his own wrestling medicine is the asmr sleep aid I've been searching for
Quite possibly the best comment in the history of the channel 👑
Haha
Im an old guy, wrestled in the 70's 80's high school & college.. no videos back then, did some coaching in 2008-2014 had to learn so many new techniques and it's still evolving, amazing what you can learn watching RUclips.
Badass, keep teaching and learning. Godbless
Making the techniques of the standing position available to grapplers who don't have wrestling/takedown backgrounds. 🙏
Soak it up brother and give your partner at practice tonight a toss for me 🤘🏻
Aka BJJ guys
That headlock sag is MONEY, used to love using that. In combination with that first takedown that's a great combo.
This channel is gold boxer who just completed his freshmen training in greco this is the best channel to improvise your wrestling hands down
Really appreciate than Alan. Glad you're here!
I have 23 years of wrestling experience nad 9 years of BJJ experience (brown belt). This is such great content. I have only been able to learn from greco experts a few times, and this was some of the best instruction I've seen. Thanks!
Very glad it helps thank you Stuart!
Thanks 😀
Would love more systems/flowcharts from Jeff, especially on getting underhooks from tie-ups that one he showed is gold!
Cross pushing the opponents post arm is a great way to get underhook
Great technique. Simple and effective. Need more content with coach Jeff! 👍🏼
i am wrestler who also is a blue belt in bjj, and people always ask me what shots they should know etc, and i always say when i do bjj im using mostly greco for my stand up , it makes more sense to me. I dont feel like im sacrificing my neck to do a take-down. definitely gonna try this combo this week. keep up the good work.
Let me know how it goes!
Like this to summon Disco Jeff to the comment section
Wooooo!
Summon Disco Jeff!
Woooooooooooo!
I watched Disco Jeff for 40 seconds and I’m already a fan
That was truly excellent. Clearly explained but without overcomplicating it or using any jargon, i feel like i could go and practice this with a partner now without being confused what i'm supposed to do. Get this man back on as often as possible.
Thanks my man!
As a judo dude who's sensei came up doing Greco, hell yeah.
Been hitting these throws all day in my mma sparring! Thanks guys
The counter to when he faces him is gold!
As a Judoka, I love greco roman wrestling. Its like no gi Judo
wow this is gold
Right?! Disco Jeff for the win 🕺🏼
Woooo
Disco Jeff is a fantastic coach. We need to see more of him. Thanks for a great video.
Man I'm happy to see that this channel has gotten a lot more momentum. Last I checked it had 2k subs and it's now at 50k. You deserve all the success for this great content!
I love this because it's a nice and simple attack, rather than something that really relies on reacting to an opponent. I don't exactly have many years of grappling, and I'm taking up MMA. While I have over a decade of striking, I barely have 1 year grappling, and at my age, it is hard to find takedown instruction in person, so the easier it is to replicate from a video, the better! Thank you much.
Beautiful. Brilliant. Brutal. This is gonna level up my wrestling like crazy
so much information packed into a 4 minute video! this is making it into my MMA and no-gi game for sure!
feels so comforting to watch a shorter older dude WHUPPIN on a youngin'. thank you my man.
We call it pulling the bull.
Works in a lot of clinch scenarios.
Same as wrestling down a bull, keep the head pinned flat against either shoulder or chest and look to trip in the direction they're looking.
Super glad to see a video on this from high level competition
This is a really great throw series and synopsis. Very approachable. ❤ thanks!
This is pure GOLD.
Wrestling is amazing. Thanks coach.
Yes some Greco I been waiting for this
I love Greco, man. It’s so much like judo. Respect! ❤
A coach of mine taught me that first technique a while back - it's easily my favorite right now. Nice video!
Damn fine good work done here.
Very technical and with overwhelming brute force enabled whenever a new opportunity arises in the moment.
A very awesome video
That video opened a new world for me, i knew some of those takedown but i spent a lot of energy in closing them because i was letting too space to my opponent, now with this kind of control may be a lot easier to work.
Thank you
Love it, Greco-Roman is underrated anymore. Thanks!
More of this! Beautiful technique
This is gold! S-Tier channel 🙏
You always bring quality, thank you so much!!!
This channel is solid
That step through the leg. That a great idea. Will be implementing into my take downs. Thank you!
Wow!
That’s some really good stuff.
More please!
Thank you - I will definitely save this video and try it in training with my brothers.
This stuff combines so well with judo and bjj
This was fantastic, thank you so much!
Clear. Concise. Excellent
That combo is wicked!
Short, sweet and to the point! Great videos man. Keep up the hunger and hard work!
Thank you and will do!
Yo this channel fire never stop 🔥
I really like this. Thanks for sharing.
absolute gas! can't wait to try this out
Is awesome simple details. Great video
Love this, thanks for sharing this gem!
That's fantastic man, cheers
Ohoh. Indeed. I am impressed. Thanks for sharing.. more more, please
This is legit, straightforward and simple to implement
thank you very much. as an old guy with a not so great hip a lot of my jiujitsu is grecojitsu- no legs! greco is a secret art and i would love to see more. thanks again.
Coming from combat sambo, however now in a mma gym based on bjj, muay thai, and tkd, i can say that greco roman wrestling is thee most important art when it comes to transitioning from standing to ground. Some laugh at me when i say this. I train with 2 giys that also come from the same sambo gym, neighter go for shots. Its all greco roman tactics and well as no gi judo. Their take down stats are in the %90s at the new gym. Many guys cry some names out thatbare famous in sambo when it comes to wrestling when they ask why theu dont go for shots. Things work differently for different people. Its just how it is. Great material, thanks for sharing. Im a ways away frok my buddy i train with. He has almost 30 years of sambo however.
And regarding self défense do you find combat sambo productive ?
@Anthony-nd7ld self defense is a legal term. I regards to an altercation I can't avoid on the streets, I'd say that keeping my shoes toes, mind sharp, and wrestling game alot more important. I use to bounce. Iv had enough of those. Yes, I'd say anything, even the wall flowers of mma like judo and taekdwondo together wpuod be great for altercations that can't be avoided aslong as theirs live sparring and grappling. I don't believe any art is better than the other, aslong as it's practiced realistically. That's why I'd put a dive of an mma gym that spars responsibly, but reasonably over any pro bjj gym that only wears gis, never does takedowns, and has knee and butt rash. Are they still dangerous on the ground, probably, but if the guys has a decent base on wrestling and any striking art, hel probably still win. Same goes for da streetz I suppose.
@@Xzontyr i definitively agree with you, I personally used to do kick boxing and just with low kick clinch and front kick was enough to keep distance.
I asked about sambo because they literally mix wrestling striking with apparently wonderful takedown level and headbutt on top of that.
Personally police officers suggested me to use wrestling in a case of self défense because of controlling someone without hurting so regarding the law it’s very beneficial .
Thanks for your answer
Awesome to see you guys share methodologies, wrestling was the greatest thing I ever did, thanks for sharing your knowledge
Beautiful sport isn’t it? Glad you found us!
this is so dope
Excellent video. Great technique and variation.
Beautiful!
That was great! Great details too! 👌🏾
Thank you - looks like a real and cool stuff! Going to try it next time in a gym.
Wow, thank you. Will try this out!
Great! Tank you so much.
This is amazing to learn like this ... 🙌🙌
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. :)
Excellent!!! Thank you
Thank you for this insight. I used to for many years believed that Greco-Roman was little more than no-gi Judo minus submissions but the more I watch GR the more I noticed the differences in footwork and head movement and alignment which differ greatly from Judo and Tai Chi's more upright focused postures.
Love this channel
Awesome vid
Unreal video! Going to have my kids watch this video. I wish someone showed me this 35 years ago. Kudos
Solid and so many options from that kind of control standing
SICK combo, thank you for the breakdown!
Heck ya more to come!
Great techniques here
Thank u coach❤
I ve been looking for sth like this a long time! Hi from Germany, love to see more Greco standing technique
Excellent stuff. Simple enough for old jiujitsu players.
Yes, do more videos just like this. Thanks.
That was SPECTACULAR!! 😦😦😦
Welcome to the channel Mister 😎
Beautiful.....yes, Elegant.
I love how Coach Disco Jeff just Scorpion-from-Mortal-Kombat GET OVER HERE with all the locks and grabs. “What about that front head locGET OVER HERE!!”
Get over here lol
Lmao we need to do a vid in full mortal combat character
You should always listen to someone called Disco. Facts!
Very good instructional, the coach is very good at teaching!
nice work. Simple and elegant.
Disco Jeff style 🕺🏼
Very important ❤
Hey Coach you really ought do some content on BJJ fanatics and get paid. Your content is seriously so much clearer, concise, and just technically better than all the content I have paid for on wrestling for BJJ.
Brilliant
Jeez that's awesome
Wow - will definitely be trying this
Another great video!!
Short, succinct, and top teir thank you!
Thank you brother, Disco Jeff brings it!
Am I too old - I'm 53 - to learn Greco-Roman wrestling? It seems like an incredible way to stay in shape and learn a fantastic combat martial art. Thank you!:)
First 20 seconds "Coach Jeff doesn't look like much" 21 seconds to 4:48 Coach Jeff is a savage!
Haha
Another great video, thanks. :D
Thank you master.
GENIUUUUUUS !!!!!!!!!!
Some of those throws seems like very good self-defense takedowns where you don't crush your opponents skull.
They definitely offer a lot of control; can make them as painful or pain free as you deem necessary 🤌🏻
I ❤love it!
Appreciate it! 🫶
