Thank you for posting this. My husband passed and I wanted to put his photo on wood since he was a carpenter. Thank you for showing me how.
Mary Jones awwwwwwwww. That’s so nice and cute. May he Rest In Peace.
How lovely. Sorry for your loss x
Hi Mary, I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm glad that this project will help you keep his memory alive.
I was thinking of doing the same for my husband who passed last year. ❤️
Aww that's so sweet and makes me want to cry. I just lost my dad a year ago due to a very sad, freak accident and he was a carpenter. I paid attention to everything he did as a kid and now, as an adult woman, I'm finding myself doing things I never knew I could do, ranging from carpentry projects to crafts. God bless you, I know the pain
Great tutorial and I’m so glad you actually spoke and demonstrated rather than being silent with loud music playing.
I appreciate the feedback and am glad you liked the tutorial. Thanks!
Bahama Mama thank you
Awesome 👏 I’m going to incorporate this trick to my future projects. Thanks 😊
Have been wanting to try this... now I will :)
Great craft project, with very easy to use instructions. Thank you. Thank you
Amazing!
this will make a great gift for my wife! thank you so much :D
This is really cool I'm doing this for a Christmas gift
that looks like fun ...
This is the best video I found for learning how to do this. Everyone else works so fast and they soak their paper so it looks like shit and doesn’t explain what products they use to seal etc.
I ruined my first project by going fast, so now that I know how beautiful it turns out if you take your time like you did I’m ready to try this again. I have ADHD and I actually watched this entire 7 min video thanks
You made my day! Thanks so much for the positive comment and I"m glad you enjoyed it!
@@Morenascorner thank you! My project ended up looking better than I could have hoped for. I took my time, and I actually used my fingers like you suggested some people may prefer. This worked best for my wood block puzzle project because the blocks aren’t perfectly even with each other, so using my fingers allowed me to get into the dips better.
You made my day for helping me to not give up on this thank you so much!
@@jacikocher7834 awesome, I'm so glad it worked out!
Thats cool I am going to have to try that:)
I have been wanting to try this for some time. My husband is always so thoughtful in his gifts to me and I want to make one of these for him. Maybe even for Christmas. Thank you for this demonstration. It helped a lot.
Using this method to make my dads christmas present! Putting a cute picture of me and him when I was a baby!!
I bet he loved it!
Thank you ! Great video ! Clear instructions with lots of tips.
Thank you!!
Great video, very helpful! Thanks for taking the time to answer people's questions. I learned even more from your answers to them.
Thank you! I'm so glad I could help!
Just to let you know, I used my ink jet printer and it worked without any smudging. However I then did one with a laser copy and the colours were a lot brighter. Also when I wetted the paper the next day, the peeled paper on the laser print remained white whereas the one on my inkjet print had ink on it and on my fingers!. So defiantly use laser copy. I also coat both paper and board with mod podge and that way you know it has proper contact. Also I like to have the pic a little smaller than the wood to leave a nice border of the wood. I use Plywood.
Would u happen to have pic using both ink
Hii! Could you pls tell which gsm paper to use?
Very nicely done, thank you for your post
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much!
Awesome tutorial!!!!! Great job explaining all the steps!
Thanks so much!!
cool!
Awesome I watched a few videos on how to transfer and urs is by far the simplest and smoothly done,,makes for a great gift thank u
Thanks so much! They do make great gifts! People always love them when I gift them.
Thank you for the tips and pronouncing Mod Podge correctly. ( 50% of the people on youtube say Modge Podge )
haha! That is a major pet peeve of mine, too!
really ??? what about all these dr's and vets and so called well educated people that put a D in important , now that grinds me ggrrrrrrrrrrr
DOH! I said Modge Podge 😑 😄
thanx grammer cop! who the fuck cares lmao troll!
thank you
Thanks
Ciao! Thank you for sharing this video tutorial! I am going to start one tomorrow. Thank you it is going to be a gift.
Wonderful! Hope it turned out well!
Morena's Corner does it work the same if you did black and white?
Yes, you can do black and white instead.
ive used regular mod podge and my hp ink jet printer and got the same results. one tip tho, if its words your transferring, be sure to flip the image on your prunter settings first b4 printing your pic
exactly what I just thought, that it has to get mirrored
I have a decoupage mod podge only..for serviettas..is it ok for printed fotos??
be the change you wanna see in the world y
that you so much this helped
Z
Thank you! I thought i could use a regular picture. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Great job! 💖💖
Thank you!!
I am doing a vintage marilyn monroe dresser to match decor ♡
Nice one, fantastic Well done 👍
Many thanks!
Love the video! Thank you!
Thanks!
thankx dear wonderful i will do it
Love it!
Thank you!
I'm malayali from India . Good.keep it up
thank you so...laser printer. ...I think the lady referring to the orange and yellow was talking about using Mod Podge finishes while your orange bottle is photo transfer. ..the normal bottles I believe the yellow gives a matter finish and the orange is for gloss but these are not to set the picture...either the photo transfer or some kind of gel medium
wow superb.we should use only image which vl be in paper can't v use regular photo sheet???
If you were to transfer an image onto a piece of wood bigger than the picture would it leave a thin film on the un-transfered areas?
wanted to know if the photo gel is best to use. saw people use just mod podge. thanks
So I want to do this but I don't have an actual picture printed from the camera. Will a picture work if I go to Walgreens or something and get one printed?
How much to each one?so amazing. ..good work
Hi Morena, feel so silly for asking but do you print the pictures on normal printer paper or on photo paper?
Would this work with pictures printed from your computer and the table already has a coating on it or do you have to use plain wood. Please answer my question . I'm trying to put printed pictures on an in table but I have to print them from the computer I'm making an Elvis table of his pictures and the table already has a shiny texture to it so it could be poly youth thi and the table already has a shiny texture to it so it could be polyurethane on it not sure
can you use a picture that was took by a studio or do you have to make a copy ?
Is there something I can seal it with that would make it weather proof? Thinking of making Christmas yard art!!
Try Mod Podge Outdoor formula. I used that on a Christmas decoupage project and it's held up to the weather!
will this work on finished wood?
Can you tell me ? Which paper are you using to print?
Great video. Wondering if it would work on rough wood? Thanks
Yes, it can! I would use a lot more medium and be careful with the rubbing.
Im having trouble when I'm trying to get the air bubbles out. The paper is sliding and tearing. What am I doing wrong?
Hi. Great project. Nice pic. I have a question can I use just a black-and-white I have a very old photo that I'd like to use
+jayne simmons Yes, you could.
can i seal it with just regular mod podge
what kind of photo paper did you used ?
Do you have any issues with the wood showing through? I used heavy gel medium and the photo rubs off in certain spots when I go to wash it off. It looks great otherwise, but I can't have spots missing on photos of people's faces :/
Thanks for the excellent step-by-step instructions. Just to clarify my understanding I wanted to ask about the picture that you use to make the transfer. So obviously I can't print from my home printer but are you talking about making a copy with like a copy machine like xerox?
If you have a laser printer you can print at home, but NOT with an ink printer. Hope that helps!
Can I get the pic copied at like walmart
where did you get the wood?
were dit u get THE gel?
there are several different mod Podge transfers like the antique, matte, shiny. which one do you prefer to use to get a really sharp image transfer?
The MP Transfer is best for photo quality transfers, but I like using MP Matte to get a wood grain effect.
Can you use a mod podge finisher at the end? Or does the krylon spray work best? Also, would leaving it for 12 hours be long enough?
Yes and yes. 😊
Hi Morena, great tutorial, bought some Mod Podge yesterday but just want to check that when you say 'photocopy' that you do mean just to 'copy paper' and does the weight of the paper matter?, my husband seems to think that it should be special paper. Any advice would be very welcome
Yes, just the standard paper you use in a copy machine or your home laser printer will do!
I have a friend who is wanting to use it on a outside table for like camping and suck. The question will it hold up to heat. What would I use to seal it so you could have say a hot dish on it and it not be destroyed?
Seal it with resin, like I did in this tutorial: www.morenascorner.com/2014/07/how-to-refinish-a-dining-table-with-fabric-mod-podge-and-resin.html
If I want to use antique mod podge - do I use it when transferring or just add a coat at the end?
Either way will work!
Can you use the same technique for ceramic or glass Jars?
I haven't tried it but I have seen others do it and it worked.
About the paper...if i'm gonna print the picture in Boots where its a photo printer will work with that tipe of paper?Thank you
Photo paper will not work for this
Can you use the mod podge that’s matte
One with the yellow label
Yes that will work
if i use regular mod podge on the photo then should i use color photo or black&white, as you said with regular mod podge wood will apear whereever white color is , and in back and white there will be more white as compared to color.
what do you suggest?
I think it looks great either way! For me it depends on the image...would it look better in color or black and white?
What kind of paper or printer do I need to use that’s the only thing I am confused about
Use regular copy paper/computer printer paper.
What type of paper did you use on the picture tho is it like photo or regular printing paper
Regular copy/printer paper
Which mod podge to be used, would gloss lustre and sealer would work for photo transfer or require to use matte mod podge, on the printer paper? Please suggest
They should all work but I prefer to use Matte.
if i use a printed image from those large printers in like a library will it still work or no
Yes, the copy machine at a library or office supply store will work!
Hey, the wood that I have chosen is darker in shade than that of yours due to which i am getting a lighter pic. So can I paint the surface white before transferring the photo so that the print comes out darker?
Yes, that would be a good idea. Or you could use white gesso as the transfer medium and it will leave a white background.
I would like to know where you got the mat that you were working on?
Plaid Crafts sent it to me, but I have seen it at Michael's with the Mod Melts and Mod Molds.
Thanks for answering me so fast I think Walgreens use the same paper as the pic I use Should I just use a copy from the printing machine because I have put a warm rag over the glued pic still not working help please I have a these pre cur blocks of wood all the glue brushes. I need to finish this project and on to my next which is making Pom poms multiple Pom poms
It has to be copy paper like you use in a home printer to print documents. Photo paper will not work.
Hey I wanted to know can I use picture that I got from like Walmart? Or use an actual computer printer?
It has to be printed on plain paper not photo paper
Does the backing have to be removed after 24 hours or can you leave it on for longer? I only ask as I'm thinking this would make a nice surprise gift for someone, leaving them to be the ones to reveal the photo. In other words, start the project then once the photo is in place and dry, gift wrap it with instructions of what to do next. I hope this makes sense.
SJ Cox yes it can stay on for a while! That’s a fun DIY gift idea.
do you think this would work using pictures from a store-bought Calendar?
Probably not because that paper is usually glossy/coated. You need uncoated paper so the glue can lift the ink from the paper.
can you stain it afterward
Would like to know what you mean by heat set paper are you talking about the paper you use tranfer pictures to t shirts if not please explain what the heat set paper is and where you can buy it
Use a copy machine. Make a color copy on a copy machine....I use the one at the library.
can you use your HP ink jet printer on special photo paper quality setting on normal paper or what kind of paper works
just normal printer paper but apparently you have to use laser ink printed paper
I have the same printer. Did it work for you?
Hi what paper do you use hun please is it everyday photo coping paper xx
Yes, just regular copy paper
I have a jar of mod podge gloss-lustre. will that work to transfer photo to wood or do I need some other kind of mod podge?
I believe it should work. I haven’t tried it but have been told all types of Mod Podge should work for this.
I was wondering the same. I bought a bottle of mod podge gloss. Most of these videos I watched says to use mod podge photo transfer. So I wonder if the gloss one can go on after to make it look glossy.
Yes, you can finish it with the glossy Mod Podge. I like to use Krylon's triple Thick Glaze Spray to get a glass like finish.
Will this work using a regular photo? Like one you'd have developed from a Walgreens or CVS photo lab, or one you'd get from a professional photo session? It seems like your photo is on a thin paper and isn't glossy, so it doesn't look like a traditional photograph.
No it won't work with an actual photo. Take your photo to a color copy machine and make a paper copy of it to use.
i love this video. can you tell me what you mean by unfinished wood? wood that is already smooth? or still a bit rough? would either work if we like the vintage look? help?
Thank you! Unfinished wood is like what you find in a craft store. It has been sanded and smoothed, but it has no paint or primer on it.
hi I'm looking to do this as a gift and I was looking to order my supplies from hobby lobby. does it matter what type of wood it is? I see they have birch and craft utility wood. Idk the difference but does it matter to do this project??? PLEASE HELP!
Any type of wood should work. Good luck!
I have a question. When I did this I could see the ink from the back side. Is the normal cause yours was white on the back
It depends on what medium you use to transfer the image. If you use Gel Medium, Gesso, or Mod Podge Transfer you will have the white background. If you use Mod Podge you will have a clear background.
After finish transfer how to the picture bright do I need to spray anything
Yes, you need to seal it. I show my favorite sealer at the end of the video.
I've tried three times using Mod Podge matte but even with the lightest touch I take all the ink up in places. Would it be easier to "feel" when the paper is off by using glossy Mod Podge?
Personally, I think Matte works better than glossy. Can you send a picture of your results and I can see if I can figure out the issue?
How long do you let it try before your start rubbing? Is the paper photo paper matte or gloss?
it depends on the size of the project, but at least a few hours. It is not photo paper, it is regular copy paper for printers
is it possible to polish it with polish oil after the process to give a high gloss look?
Yes, that will work!
Did you get your photo printed professionally or at an at home printer? Is it printed on paper or photo paper?
Laser printer or color copy machine on printer paper.
Waoh your picture is so clear, but what dd you use to make the picture come awesome..the image colours are real good...
I tried this previous bt my image become poor..i use same procedures
Thank you. What medium did you use to transfer the photo with?
Helo i use mode podge
Make sure you are using a color copy from a copy machine. I find that those get better results than a laser printer at home.
can i ask you?
what paper you use ?, and inkjet printer can be used?
No ink jet. Regular copy paper.
Inkjet can work if its all pigment based inks. Like an epson wf series or a hp officejet pro series. You DONT want a dye based printer.
Where do I get these photos that are able to transfer?
You use your own photo and print it on a color copier.
okay and will a lexmark x5650 work, sorry im not good with printers and its known qualities
If it's a laser printer it will work. If it's ink jet printer then the ink may smear when the paper gets wet.
Hi there! Just wondering, what is the difference between an ink jet copy and a colour photo copy? Can I print the picture on regular printer paper with coloured ink?
Images printed on an ink jet printer will smear when wet.
Which type of paper is used for getting photo print
Regular copy or printer paper
Hi, just wanna ask if I can use photo paper in printing the picture?
No, photo paper won't work
I want to make something like this for my mom. Do I just make a copy of a picture at Kinko's then use that paper copy??
Yes.
can i use the antique matte mod podge to transfer the image to wood?
Yes!
Morena's Corner
Helo, which type paper should we use for image printing
The same kind of paper you use in your home printer
Hi, i accidentally printed two pictures on diff pages of one single sheet of paper. Should i still proceed with the laser ink transfer? Will it work? Will the images overlap or smth?
Reason for asking is because i printed them at someone's place and feel bad to ask again (i only have inkjet printer at home and most vids say laser is better)
+Cara AJL If you can line them up it should be fine.
can i use the diy mod podge (school glue and water) for the photo transfer to wood?
I haven't tried that. Don't know!
so did it work?
can i seal it with clear gloss paint? to make it gloossyy
Yes, you can do that!
