Thank you Sir, great video/tip. I am a player who strikes the ball crisp and center of club face but my golf ball travels left and right. Mostly left. So I try to adjust my aim that was my fix. I never knew I can bring it back by how much rotation my lead hand supinates. I can’t thank you enough for all your videos. You the MAN ERIC! To all those watching golf videos on you tube. Eric’s channel is the best most simple and his clear calm communication will show results immediately. Practice Practice Practice.

great video. Im no pro, but this is one of the first things i teach to friends/family that are learning golf. They fail to release the hands/club and square up the face leading to slices/blocks to the right. The left handed supination drill is my favorite I typically do it as my practice swing before every shot.
Great tip Eric. This is a great reminder for me to work on in my back yard net range sessions. I will hit many in a row crisp, solid and straight, and then all of a sudden shank some out to the right even though I feel like I hinged my wrist correctly. My mistake with these shots I believe is assuming the supination just will happen naturely with lower body rotation but is probably not or maybe I'm standing up more rather than rotating causing more of a flip. I know, use video! lol. So the one swing thought for left wrist supination would be left arm rotation? Thanks
Thanks, Mobley! I would really need to see your swing on video to say for sure! Here is more on left arm supination feels and options: ruclips.net/video/BlZriUpP7Ns/видео.html ruclips.net/video/vKtZi2iESSE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/3pW6O_YHdPI/видео.html
Eric love the videos. Your first video reminded me of Martin Chuck and the planemate getting into that good follow through position. Gonna work on these things later today.
Eric spot on as always, however easier said than done. Golf is a tough sport to learn. It seems that when you have one aspect figured out another aspect goes south. Love your videos thanks as always.
Thanks, John! For sure---tough game! Have to make sure you pick the right priorities and stick on them for a long time. Then practice correctly to ensure you are improving SKILLS along with mechanics
Hey eric- as always fantastic content. I have a question. I watch all these videos and an issue I find is trying to figure out root causes. I can see things in my swing I want to change... but not just one thing. For instance... My club head tends to get a little inside halfway back (shaft points outside the ball) my transition gets a little steep.... my hips stop rotating and I early extend and flip. You’ve seen it! So do I work on getting the lower body (left hip seam rotating to create space, the take away being more vertical, the transition to shallow, or to bend/squat from the top to help not early extend? Like how do u know what causes what and where to begin? All your content is so good, but you want to work on the right thing. I’d say my ball striking is “inconsistent” for a 10 H.
Thanks, Jeff! Generally speaking I would start with the EARLIEST issue "My club head tends to get a little inside halfway back (shaft points outside the ball) my transition gets a little steep.." --I would fix this first If you go under plane in backswing That gets you steep Steep makes you do the body motions Body motions create impact issues So start from beginning I would always encourage working with a good coach for guidance and accountability (us or whoever else). That way you pick the correct things, the correct drills, knowing the checkpoints to hit, what to expect, etc
Excellent, the 2 problems I have 1. Hitting the same spot on the ground consistently 2. In forearm rotation not flipping the club head at impact. Any suggestions?
So if we are the small percentage that has too much supination what is the hand action? How do you dial that back and still let the wrists release? Is it more of an unhinging up and down motion? Could you do a video on how you take supination out?
Hey Joshua! Yes that's correct! for sure--I did a few on this You would feel lead elbow at target longer (not left) and logo toward target longer (less supination and lead shoulder more internally rotated) Here are 3 videos on this topic if you need LESS supination: How to match arm rotation to grip/face angle : ruclips.net/video/3QQUyRnRSJU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8Cg2O8atmYY/видео.html Left arm versions (this is specific to your question) ruclips.net/video/BlZriUpP7Ns/видео.html Right arm version: ruclips.net/video/XiGbh1SyBXY/видео.html
Webb Simpson is another player who must and does supinate a lot. But isn't that supination achieved partly through body rotation? I'd say it's a mix, and the weaker your grip and the less your body, esp. chest/shoulders, opens from slot to/through impact, the more he/she must supinate the left (fore) arm, and vice versa. Or am I wrong?
Hey! Definitely correct on the second part---not sure so much on the first part. I don't think the supination comes from body rotation. DEF depends on GRIP/club face angle during downswing More on that here: ruclips.net/video/3QQUyRnRSJU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8Cg2O8atmYY/видео.html
I think Eric is talking to people who are not able to rotate as much on their through swings as low handicappers or touring pros- which is most people. Yes, if we can rotate well without supination, they could square the clubface- but most cant. get shoulders 30 degrees open and hips 45 degrees open to achieve that. So, Eric is teaching a motion pattern that will allow the masses to square that clubface without as much rotation...

As usual. Simple and easy to understand and apply instruction. 👍 one of the best on RUclips.
Thanks, Tim!
Fit Golfer Girl and Eric Cogorno teaming up is content I love to see!
US too :)
Great video. Said it before but I very much appreciate the way you describe how "it shoud feel" rather than how "it should look like". Thanks
Appreciate it! FEELS too important!!

100% agreed! I like for them to learn that first as well....I like to coach someone in phases like this:

"My club head tends to get a little inside halfway back (shaft points outside the ball) my transition gets a little steep.."

If you go under plane in backswing
That gets you steep
Steep makes you do the body motions
Body motions create impact issues
So start from beginning

for sure we have suggestions, John! You know where to go so we can see your swing to see WHY its happening--then we can help!

I was taught "hip high, toe to the sky". Still works 40 years later.
I think it can work but it just takes more timing to swing your way.
Hey Paul! Nothing wrong with that if you can deliver the face square to the ball at impact consistently
@@CogornoGolf a good neutral grip takes care of that 😉
Your twist away method does not seem to show this.pronation. Is this consistent with twist away?
Yes
