    The first train westbound will be at 12:52PM today, and the first train eastbound is 1:52PM, so you should get the two videos out by then because I can't wait to get a front cab window view

    I noticed that the ride is very smooth. This is because the track doesn't have joints.

      The other five lines still have joints. That's why you hear that bumping sound on the tracks and the ride is bumpy. This is also why Metro is in the process of performing joint elimination.

      Jon Rogers It is smooth because it is brand new, concrete ties help to.
      The rest of the railroad use to be just as smooth. Over time worn segment of rail were replaced with new, most of the joints were not welded after insulation. Restoring the track ballast is also a never ending project.

      John Cambron Hopefully Metro learned their lesion and will take care of the new track to begin with.

      That remains to be seen. WMATA has serious priority issues. The agency makes considerable effort to keep what the public sees pretty while at the same time not doing so for much of the stuff that can't be seen.

    Yes in the series 1000 cars. When they were delivered the Silver Line had not even been thought of.

    i'm sure the station structure for most phase 2 stations (not including Dulles Airport) will look about exactly the same as Wiehle-Reston East.

      Jman2013
      There are a total of 11 interlockings between East Falls Church and bumper posts west of the Wiehle-Reston East station. 7 are crossovers, 1 is is the Silver line junction, 1 is Falls Church Yard lead and 1 is the pocket track west of the Wiehle-Reston East station.

      Jersey Mike's Rail Videos Thank you. I've seen them operating completely autonomously with a driver on deck just in case, but I haven't been able to rail fan a cabin of the front of a D.C. Metro for 4 years so I had no idea.

      They used to until the Red Line crash of 2009, then we had manual operation, single tracking on weekends and delays every week on the Red Line.

      MARTA in Atlanta also uses the automatic train control on all of their rail lines

    I wonder if they installed ATC on the line. I know WMATA disabled it on most of the system because they think its to problematic.

    • @PositionLight
      @PositionLight  6 лет назад

      You mean ATO and yes. Only the 8 car trains are running without it due to platforming issues.

    • @Reallynow101
      @Reallynow101 4 года назад +1

      All cars have ATC( which includes ATO) except 7k B cars. Can be enabled at anytime but is prohibited indefinitely until further notice.

    Metro wasted too much money on adverting instead of fixing up the rest of the system. If you want something done right in DC, don't ride Metro.
