Everytime I was in the city, I would take the MARTA all the way to Doraville in order to get good Colombian food or just sit and chill in those Chinese and Korean cafes. The trip was worth it.
I used to ride this line a lot growing up! Anytime I went to the airport, we would start from Doraville (or Chamblee in the late 80s up to the early 90s) and ride the line in its entirety.
the system really needs to expand into cobb and gwinett. It would honestly turn into a commuter/metro unique combo if it expanded into cobb. theyd definitely need some express limited stop trains at that point
Cobb county voters and taxpayers and Gwinnett county voters and taxpayers have to vote for Marta to expand into Cobb and Gwinnett county. Inaddition, both counties voters and taxpayers have to pass the 1 cent sale tax before Marta would expand into those counties. May God bless , guide, and cover the 13 county Region of Atlanta( the city of Atlanta, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale 🙌 🙏 . So God help the Metro 13 county Region of Atlanta 🚇.
9:25 - The train operator states that 'West End' is the next station but Oakland City sits between Lakewood and West End. That was a small mistake that I've only seen/heard happen maybe twice in all the years I have been riding Marta. I'm glad that he corrected himself once he realized what he said.
pittpanther28 Because mass transit serves a major, functional purpose to society than anything else man-made. To me and many others, buses, trains, and planes and how they operate become a form of art.
I love ATL. I'll be heading back there probably sometime in August to do a 'FULL RIDE' on the Blue Line... and if the Streetcar is operable by then, I'll do one for that as well.
Good video and good descriptions. Except for one error. There is no "city of Buckhead." Buckhead is 100% wholly within the city limits of Atlanta and is governed by the city of Atlanta. It is not a separate city. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckhead,_Atlanta
Garnett station is just like Tysons Corner station on the WMATA SV line in a sense bc one side is elevated while the other side is facing a tunnel portal
I've been there long time ago. 2001 .i was worked Airport Hartsfield Atlanta,Georgia. Worked at concourse B le petit Bistro, making sandwich. I miss USA. Beautifull Country.
Jhon Krasnovskiy Lol, have you been on the NYC transit? It's not even that bad and many stations have been renovated as well as most of their rail cars are brand new. I think NY blows MARTA out the water, as their system is larger and more to keep up with vs MARTA which is smaller but yet Five Points is their hub but the worst looking station possible. Smh.
Jhon Krasnovskiy Lol, on the red/gold lines there actually is, but not as much as the older NYC stations. I know I always catch a rat or two at that station also... but the WORST station EVER is the Jay-Street/Metro Tech NY station! I swear that's the breeding grounds for all of the cities rats! MTA really needs to do something about that station. The amount of rats I saw there in 1 night vs that at 5 Points in 1 year was tragic! Hard to believe that two of those trains run through the Fulton Center Station (newest renovated station). That station is beyond beautiful!
i don't like that the conductor keeps interrupting the recordings. Normally she says 'this train is bound for Doraville station' I hate when operators do that
In the stations or the train? If your talking about the stations, they didn't have no arrival announcements around the time this was recorded. Marta started installing them in late 2019 or 2020.
@@ejdsndnj On the train while it was arriving at Five Points station. However, I also heard the older station announcements from some MARTA videos from around 2010 on RUclips.
There are only two. One on the North/South line (shown in this video) that splits after Lindbergh Center heading north, where the Gold line (North) will take you to Doraville and the Red line (North East) will take you to North Springs. The other split is on the East/West line, located after Ashby heading west. The Blue line will take you to Hamilton E. Holmes and the Green (Proctor Creek) line will take you to Bankhead. The Green line split only has that one station after it branches off. That station is also smaller than the others and can only occupy two-car trains.
Cobb county and Gwinnett county voters and taxpayers have to vote to expand MARTA and past the 1% sale tax in order for MARTA to expand the MARTA transit system into Cobb and Gwinnett county. As Dekalb county taxpayers, the MARTA family ridership would love to haave our suburban counties residents come, join, and support our MARTA Agency Authority. Hope to see our suburban neighbor residents into the MARTA System. God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️ .
Well, shame on me, I don't ask anyone rather try not reveal anyone's facial identities. If you wish to take "professional" recordings or pictures at transit centers; within trains or such, you go to the headquarters at Five Points station and they'll give you a "pass" on the day you wish to do recordings.

I always thought of Marta subway to be DC metro's little, less self destructive brother

That would be awesome! I live in Gwinnett and if I can take a train to Atlanta or to the Airport for travels. That would be so awesome.

Why do I have an obsession over mass transit?
pittpanther28 Because mass transit serves a major, functional purpose to society than anything else man-made. To me and many others, buses, trains, and planes and how they operate become a form of art.
underground railroad
+MJofLakeland1 I feel exactly the same way.
Hey. You are not alone. I have lots of good transit videos on my channel. :)
You should listen to the song, Artifacts: Wrong Side of the Tracks, its also about people with a transit obsession
Reminds me of riding the WMATA metro in DC.
Not really, bc it feels more like MTA New York Subway L line or 4 line
Thanks for the ride ! I hope the system can expand !
i don't think so: state government hates Atlanta muni's guts when it comes to transport
those system was built with federal funding originally intended for Seattle, and Seattle refused
Who else here loves that sound the train brakes make? Like listening to electric violins
the Spanish station announcements are in a French accent
I'm almost crying this is my city
Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed that.
Since last year i ride on the train takes me anywhere i go i like atl
I love ATL. I'll be heading back there probably sometime in August to do a 'FULL RIDE' on the Blue Line... and if the Streetcar is operable by then, I'll do one for that as well.

thanks, now i know exactly where i'm going,..visually! ( i get lost a lot)
Thanks for this, I have never seen MARTA "in action" before
Garnett station is just like Tysons Corner station on the WMATA SV line in a sense bc one side is elevated while the other side is facing a tunnel portal
Minor correction: Five Points has no letter/number sub-designation, and stations Garnett through Airport are S1 through S7, respectively. :)
The trains use the same propulsion system as BART in San Francisco . They sound the same .
it's funny how my father works for Marta and drives on the east-west lines also I've driven one before it was awesome
wow
as far as awesome!
Tell us about it
Nice detailed video!
Dang bro you meant business when you got all the MARTA Rail lines! Good stuff bro :-)
Gonna do Blue Line when I head back.
I've been there long time ago.
2001 .i was worked Airport Hartsfield Atlanta,Georgia. Worked at concourse B le petit Bistro, making sandwich. I miss USA. Beautifull Country.
The audio cut out around 17:25 causing you to miss The five points announcement.
Lot of places here I've never seen, only route I've ever take is North Springs to Five Points to the Georgia Dome and back, #riseup
ATL is fascinating because subs don't usually or mostly run above ground...
That's why it's called rapid rail instead of subway. It's a mixture of all of them.
Are MARTA subways now CBTC? Also the acceleration/deceleration sounds disturbingly similar to the R142 subway car on the NYC subway!
Wheatley GLADOS Yeah they are quite similar indeed, but I don't think they're the exact same motors, but the sounds are about identical.
Jhon Krasnovskiy Lol, have you been on the NYC transit? It's not even that bad and many stations have been renovated as well as most of their rail cars are brand new. +Wheatley GLADOS The accel / decel also sounds like that of Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) here in San Francisco and environs.
+Jhon Krasnovskiy fa sho
Thanks for the ride!
No problem. Whenever I head back down to ATL, I'll have all of the lines.
I miss Atlanta but I'll be back soon!!!!!!!!
The trains and system design looks like DC Metro (WMATA) but without the depth, regional impacts and craziness of the lines.
Getting On Marta Tomorrow
i used to take this train and transfer to a bus to six flags over georgia good memories
Do anybody know that Marta train conductor who's always loud excited and interesting ! Someone should get a video of him
i don't like that the conductor keeps interrupting the recordings. Normally she says 'this train is bound for Doraville station'
I hate when operators do that
its the rule.
Oh yeah, and i don't like them either.
How fast does it go? Is it exciting to ride this train?
it goes pretty fast and riding Marta is pretty fun, especially if you've never ridden it before or u don't ride it often
Nice video.
What happened to some of the arrival announcements?
In the stations or the train?

@@ejdsndnj On the train while it was arriving at Five Points station. However, I also heard the older station announcements from some MARTA videos from around 2010 on RUclips.
they drive the train to fast at times. kinda gives you the feeling there fallling asleep at the wheel
The train is on Automatic Track Control and the speed is predetermined based on what section of track the train is running on.
dam how many fork offs are there?
There are only two. One on the North/South line (shown in this video) that splits after Lindbergh Center heading north, where the Gold line (North) will take you to Doraville and the Red line (North East) will take you to North Springs. You came to Atlanta and didn't even let me know!
Well gees, get in line with the others who said that. I'll be back to ATL sometime this Summer.
***** I'll be on tour all summer.
Gold line? It will always be a "Northbound train to Doraville."
Cool

who do I ask to film on MARTA?
Well, shame on me, I don't ask anyone rather try not reveal anyone's facial identities. thanks for answering my question.
Only 38 stations, not much for a city of 4.5 million people.
ikr but at least they're moving compared to all southern cities..
+Mingo Tubman ^
*5.6 million
Atlanta only has a little over 400,000 people. The metropolitan area has over 5.6 Million. Marta doesn't serve the entire metro area
Antoine Moorman No shit
This Is an old marta train.
