In the past 2 days, I have watched all of the videos in this series. And yesterday I got a 79 cx500. Has a GL front and rear end. These videos will be very useful throughout the build
Thank you for all this video ! I've take two days for watching all of it and i've learn so much for my CX project !
Such a helpful series. I'm building a 1980 CX500 Custom soon, and it's going to really help me out.
As I just picked up GL500 for me next project I sat down and binge watched all of your build. Bro, that's one cool bike!!! Lots of good info indeed, thumbs up bro:)
Superb build dude!
I decided to replace the hand controls on a 68 BSA (rusty) I ordered new ones that did not receive the adjuster ( stock cable had adjust built into end of cable.) after ordering 2 different cables. I am at this stage. modify and make my own.. thanks for sharing.
Just curious but the clutch cable at the clutch end goes through a cable "locator"? I would have put the adjusting nuts on opposite sides of that piece and pinched it with the nuts or am I seeing it wrong?
I see what you mean, and I don't see why a third nut could be installed on the bottom of the bracket. On the two CX500s I have owned, two nuts are stacked and tightened on the top of the bracket. The two nuts tightened against each other keeps the adjustment true. The downward force from the clutch arm seems to be plenty to keep the cable in place.
hello I'm restoring a cx500 and I'm losing oil by the gear lever my question to change the retainer you have to remove the entire back cover of the engine ?Thank you
it really f***s with my ocd that you haven't changed the speedometer unit yet ;) ruins the flow of the bike.
thank you for showing how much work it goes into a complete rebuild of a cx500, i had a naive notion of doing it myself but now i think ill pass :)
Mine too! A new cluster is in the works, have yet to sort it all out enough to warrant a video.
What is your next project?
I can't ear what you are saying (mu device) this way my question; the controls cables that you fix did not worked out?
Luke, I love the looming on your cx500! I'm doing a similar project, and I do have some wiring question. Could you please help me out?
What happened to the Twinstar ???
motion pro makes good stuff
* * WHAT SEAT / BRACKET IS THAT ON YOUR CX 500 ? ? * *
What handlebars did you use? Great videos and sweet ride keep up the great videos......
Thanks! The bike has clubman bars.
Curious how these are holding up? Any issues so far?
They are holding up great. No issues after numerous rides this season.
