Yes good point. 5 mins of what We are not going to do in this video.
I actually turned one off @ three mins in when the guy said "in this video these are the things I'm not going to do in this video. Oh yes, building speaker crossovers video. "The video was about the host." There are far too many of them I'm noticing, going on and on like best girlfriends, suddenly you are two, three minutes in and have not even mentioned the topic, but yes now we know you're having a gee wiz jiffy blond hair day.
Definitely this video could be used as a template for creating a quality video, that does not chase people away, make them angry for wasting their time. It especially ticks me off when content has nothing to do with the description. Who are these people? Where do their educations come from. a closet in a basement? I' like that you pointed out, the quality of the production. It certainly is worth mentioning.

When you’re running a roto zip to cut rock on an inside feature, go clockwise and it’s a much cleaner finish. Clockwise to cut an inside, counter clockwise to cut around the outside of something.

Thanks for the tutorial. I use to hang sheetrock for years. I haven't done it in about 5 years now. I thought I'd watch to see what I can learn, just in case I have to ever do it again. I like the Rotozip tool. that would have saved me a ton of time. The 3M Spray is an excellent idea...another time saver. With the inside corner mudding, brilliant idea. I wish I had that back in the day. Also with the inside cornering, I used the inside corner tool 95% of the time...with mesh tape or drywall tape. I kind of miss hanging drywall, but then again, not. Believe it or not, I use to have fun sheetrocking, Taping, Mudding & Texturing. I was also the Hot Mud King. I was the 5 minute Hot Mud Man. Mix & go, Mix & go, Mix & go no time to waste. Thanks again.

This is the best, informative, practical, useful tutorial video I watched lately. I wish I watched this about 13 years ago when I did my basement reno! Thanks for the great video. I became a fan of you!
I have a quick question though... I just bought a brand new house from a well-known builder (TollBrothers) and the drywalls are poorly done especially for the corner edges - It is too noticeable that a lot of them are not square / 90 degrees. What can they do to fix them and what should I tell them so that they can fix them all before the final walkthrough? Thanks in advance.

  • @johntidwell4121

Pro tip for the drywall tape reel - if you are right handed, you will apply the tape from right to left, with the tape reel on your left hip, pulling from the bottom. I've got 30 years of experience as a taper, it will feel smoother and more natural. If you're left handed, reverse this, but always pull from the bottom. The advantage is, you won't have to pre-pull tape off the reel. You pull directly off, and it's smooth every time.

I'm about to gut and renovate a 1980s mobile home bathroom. The drywall used trim strips and was bonded wallpaper so it's all getting replaced. Watching all of these drywall videos despite not being the first room I've done. Great videos!

I've had no problems getting mud to stick on the bonded paper. Remove the trim strips, hammer the edges (I've even cut some that were really uneven, to create a bevel) and tape them. You have to feather way out, and skim coat to cover the papers rough finish, but its still quicker than replacing it all. Good luck!

Your work is always so neat. Like those guys who make the RUclips videos :)
More seriously, as a licensed GC who minimizes subs, you’ve unselfishly shared enough gold for a series of good videos.
DIYers take note, you also make it look easy. My ultimate compliment.

Man, so much better and more informative than the last drywall video I watched. Plus, the guy presenting comes across as genuine, experienced and not doing this for the "show" but for the benefit of the viewer. Liked and subscribed, my dood. Can't wait to show off the new tricks to my boss!

You’re so cool Jeff! I don’t understand why 80s movies always portrayed dry wall installers as “failures.” It definitely takes someone with skill and patience to do this, and it looks fun! 😂 Thank you for your RUclips channel! I love it!
