    Rubber seal comes between lower filter housing and filter, not between filter and upper cover. I stayed on the road 3x because of air entering the system (mechanics put the rubber seal on top of the filter). After the rubber seal is bellow the filter, the car works fine. The same information is in the service manual. I have a mk2.5 focus, 1.8 tdci

    Two main misstakes that I`ve picked up:
    1. Missing bleeding
    2. Seal goes under the filter (3:24 shows that it should be under the filter, not on the top) - that will make air coming into the system.

      Well there is no bleeding method per-see as far as I know. The mechanics I have been visiting typically fill the filter case, put the filter in, wait for the filter to get wet and absorb part of the diesel, then fill it to the brim while waiting for the filter to get saturated with diesel. This reduces the need for bleeding since there is no manual pump for doing this. That is my understanding and I fully expect that the engine did not start right away in his case :)

      You shouldn’t have to bleed it if you fill
      It with fuel. Start it up and hold it at about 2500 rpm. It’s the encased types that you can’t fill with fuel that can be a total pain to bleed. Years ago as an apprentice mechanic we used to fill old commercial diesel filters with kerosene. The white cloud on initial start up was something to behold 😂

    Thank you for doing the video, however there’s several issues. Firstly the large O ring seal was fitted on top of the filter and should be under it. Secondly you did not check the small O ring seal for splits. Thirdly, if you can start a 1.8 tdci without bleeding, then I need a new profession. The system work on pressure rather than a secondary pump, so the moment you disturb the system all the diesel returns to the tank, hence why you need to suck it back up by bleeding

    How come you didn't have to bleed the system after changing filter? I changed my Mondeo which has exact same system and had serious trouble as I got it air locked. :(

    Please everyone report about this video. It's a harmful. DON'T DO ANYTHING WHAT ON THIS VIDEO!
    1) Sealing gasket wrong place. It must be on bottom not on top
    2) After changing filter, system must be unbleeded. Otherwise engine will not start

    What a load of rubbish. The seal is in the wrong place and he never bled the fuel system. Not a chance that car started straight away.

  • @Dark-Lord3386

    It's totally possible it might start without bleeding if you were lucky enough not to introduce air into the system.

    • @AndersMcTee
      @AndersMcTee 2 года назад +1

      I’ve done this 100s of times and never needed to bleed one that’s been filled with fuel before hand. Start it and hold the Revs for a bit and it should be fine. It’s the encased filters that need fuel sucking through.
