This is my 2nd comment on this video. I made your potato salad on Wednesday to have for the 4th of July. This was very very easy to make. The hardest part was waiting for the cooked potatoes to cool enough to add the dressing! I used gold potatoes and made the recipe exactly as you wrote it. The only thing I changed was to leave out the gherkins, but I did add the pickle juice. My husband absolutely LOVED this potato salad! I'm very happy to say that I also loved it and I'll be making this again and again! I should mention that my husband always thought that our local grocery store made the best potato salad. After eating yours, he has changed his mind! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us all.
I just finished making this recipe. My husband thinks I'm making the same old one with can peas and carrots and miraclewhip. But I'm not , I hope he likes it. I had no sweet pickles so I used dill pickles and it's juice. I absolutely love it. Keeping my fingers crossed. 👍😀
I made this on Saturday exactly as the recipe, sweet pickles and juice, gold potatoes, and we enjoyed it with grilled brats for Sunday lunch. It is delicious! I think this is going to be my potato salad of choice from now on! ❤
Hey Sam! I’m 15 years old and I absolutely love cooking/baking, really anything in the kitchen. Would you PLEASE make a fried chicken recipe? When I make your recipes I almost always fall in love with them
I've never been able to make a really good potato salad, so I need to try yours! BUT! My macaroni salad is the BEST!!! It's my Mom's recipe and my sister also makes it, but she takes shortcuts. I do not. Anyway, back to the potato salad. This looks fantastic and I WILL be making it before the end of July.
My family has always added sweet pickle relish to our potato salad, which I am sure gives a similar effect. Being from central PA they never met a recipe that they feel isn't made better with a bit of sugar. My husband's family likes everything more sour so they add more vinegar, more dill etc. Have a happy fourth.
This is very similar to an Amish Potato Salad -- my personal favorite! (Yes, I grew up in PA, too! Eastern PA, though heavily influenced by the Central PA foods...)
Potato salad is such a regional recipe. NY deli style is very popular where I live. Of course, everyone has a favorite family recipe. I tend toward making the NY deli recipe because that's what my family enjoys most. I'm going to try your recipe for something different.
High quality tater salad recipe! I admire your potato boiling skills. I started boiling whole potatoes because I’ve had too many situations where I overcooked the diced potatoes and ended up with mashed potato salad. I haven’t had that problem with whole boiled potatoes. Also, I like to add a little whole milk to the mayonnaise because that’s what the BBQ restaurants in my neck of the woods do and I prefer it that way. I think tater salad using dressing mixed with a little milk makes a better presentation visually. YMMV Excellent video, Samantha!!! 🇺🇸
Looks delicious! Take a break from some of the chopping and just grate the pickles. I tend to grate an entire jar’s worth of pickles at once and store them back in the jar. Makes quick sandwich and salad prep so easy!
I’ve been using basically the same ingredients but then I start using some lite robust Italian dressing too. It does sort of tend to takeover the other flavors but it’s really good.
I always use russet of various sizes. I just throw them whole unpeeled into a pot then just peel back the skin with my fingers. The different sizes of potatoes add different texture with every bite.
@@SugarSpunRun, congratulations on your little girl Sam. I’ve been wondering if she had arrived. We can’t wait to see her. If those two brothers will share her with us. 😉😉
I don't like pickles in my potatoe salad. I don't know why, I think people make the pieces to big and I just won't add the juice for sure! I also use a Vandalia onion in mine. The red seems to strong in potatoe salad.
it looks really yummy but two questions - do you need to add the eggs [and what do they do to the potato salad exactly? my mom is kind of weird where she doesn't mind having eggs in baked goods, but she won't really eat it in anything else)

@@DonnaMSchmid Did you grow up on hoagies, Lebanon bologna and beet pickled eggs?
Thank you! Enjoy! :)
@@susanhammitt7080 Yep, along with scrapple, apple cider donuts, and sweet-sour cucumber & onion salads!
@@DonnaMSchmid Oh my gosh, how could I not mention scrapple and apple cider donuts. Love it
I will be making it this weekend for our cookout! Thank you :)
I hope everyone loves it! :)

Looks very good. My family goes for dill pickle instead of sweet and I add some sour cream with the mayonnaise. 😊
Sounds delicious! It's so easy to customize. :)
I made this yesterday, though I use sweet relish and a bit of dill. Also sprinkle dill in as well, pinch or two of Thyme.
Good stuff!
I really like your potato salad. I am a sweet pickle lover and I think this Potato Salad is a winner!!! Thank you for the recipe 😊!!!

Looks so yum! Definitely making this. Perfect timing. 🎉🎉. Thank you. ❤
That looks so good. One my favorite recipe is your Potato Soup so good that I make them often. Thank you so much for sharing!

Cooking the potatoes while saves time, easier to peel and dice.I do the same thing.
I love your vids

Very similar to mine. Looks delish!!
Enjoy! :)
Looks delicious Sam!
Thank you! :)
It looks yummy I have to make this .😋
Yum!❤
Delishous ❤
Thank you! :)
I like using Italian dressing out of the bottle, to give it a twist..
Great idea!❤
This potato salad looks delicious! How many servings for 2lbs of potatoes? I’m hosting around 40 people. Thank you!
This makes about 8 servings at 3/4 cup each. :)
Would you double/triple everything in the recipe evenly? @@SugarSpunRun
Try a teaspoon of worcestershire sauce
Sounds interesting. I will have to give it a try! :)
I bake a combination of red & yukon potatoes. While spuds are still warm & chopped, add a sprinkle red wine vinegar. I also add chopped black olives
Sounds good!My husband loves black olives, never thought about adding them but he will love it❤
@@mimiscountrycooking1607 It'll be 102 in our area for the next few days, this morning l made spud salad & bought everything for sandwiches 😉
You didn't post last week I thought you have a baby girl thank you for amazing salad look good stay bless with your family
Thank you! She did arrive a few weeks ago so I had to take a little bit of time off. I did prerecord some videos so I wouldn’t be gone too long. 😊

You could leave the egg pieces out if you'd like. It's just a flavor addition. :)
@@SugarSpunRun thanks!! I might use kama nalak to get the eggy-flavour!!
This is how I've always made my potato salad except I always add peas
Interesting. I don't think I've ever had peas in my potato salad.
Hi Sam how are you I hope you are doing well I’m Laura I’m going to make this
I'm doing well, thank you! I hope you love it! :)
.. can i replace sweet pickles with relish ?
If you'd like that could work. :)
Not a fan of miracle whip either
You lost me at the pickles. I prefer my salads without it.
You could certainly leave them out. :)
Nah, too sweet and needs more eggs!
