I know convicted felons who are Attorneys, Nurses, laborers, etc. Stop using that word to describe the worst of society. My crime was over 20 years ago. Yrt, according to most folks, I'm just a "felon". I'll tell you what, I'd cut off both arm before treating my Son like this. These people give felons a bad name. *All* children have the right to access the basic home amenities their parents have access to - climate control, developmentally appropriate access to bathrooms and kitchens to meet hygiene and nutritional needs, and the ability to interact freely with the members of their household. If a child is not developmentally able to care for themselves based in age or disability, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to provide that care.
Abuse and neglect are not cultural constructs; these are legal definitions designed to protect basic human rights. The fact that human rights are violated in some circumstances - or to a greater degree in some circumstances - does not absolve anyone of violating the rights of others, especially in parent-child relationships.
I hope this traumatized child received the support he needs to heal intellectually, physically, and emotionally. He’s book-smart and well-spoken despite the horrific way he was treated; he will need help to understand why it wasn’t ok and was not his fault for the rest of his life.

I had cousins who were adopted. They were given everything. One of them was well adjusted and just the sweetest girl. The other was more lost and eventually became angry, left home at an early age and became a drug addict. It’s really hard to help a child who has been traumatized/abused/abandoned/neglected ( we don’t even know what most of them have gone through). Sometimes, it’s near impossible. In my cousin’s case, she was given every opportunity by wealthy adoptive parents and yet she acted out and caused them a lot of grief. In her case, she had loving, kind, understanding parents. I can only imagine how hard it would have been for her if they’d have been harsh, dictatorial and demanding.

When I had my own twins I really struggled because I couldn’t think of any situation where you could take them from me- on some primal biological realm I was fiercely protective.
I have always been grateful my birth mother gave me a shot at life with awesome people instead of the other option.

Or by listening to their inner voice that pauses them in their thoughts. Simple contact with others and airing concerns.can save others and animals from horrific abuse. Neighbours, friends and family are the best and often only saviours for those voiceless victims who lie hidden and unseen. It took a fleeting visit by a stranger, tasked with construction inside this house of horror, to act on his inner voice to save this child. it's been the prosecution's case so far. You'll have to wait for the defense side, starting Tuesday. They did have a bit of defense testimony today. A friend talked about a vacation he went on with his children and the defendants and their children. How the teen boy (he was about 11 I guess at the time) held down the other kids in the pool while they struggled. Then, as they were leaving the vacation home, the adults noticed all the knives in the kitchen were gone and they searched the boy's luggage and found all the knives in there.

@@blitzmom2674 right, by this time he'd been locked up this way already in Arizona. These people move across the country and bought a new house never planning on having him live inside of it. He heard then in Arizona talking about building that awful cell in the new house. If it was going to be his room, why only 8x8? Why not 12x12? Why not buy a house with a room for him already there? You can put a lock on a bedroom door if they felt they need to keep him in at night. He was exiled because they couldn't be bothered to get him proper mental health care. The gentleman today said the notes he was given to review were from two psych doctors with only 2-3 appointment notes from each. That's not consistent, therapeutic care. That's them not liking it when they were told they needed to change the way they dealt with him and not going anymore. They devised their own "treatment plan."
