Jamie is amazing and such a nice person too. He’s really added another dimension to TFF. Personally I’d say he’s their best drummer.
Bought myself The Nude Vater sticks, did an outdoor gig yesterday, 2 hours and no blisters - thanks for the advice
I got some and found them the slippiest stick ever. They just slide out of a dry hand. They wont produce blisters because they have no friction!
That kit sounds fantastic
Thank You Brother! You Made my bucket list concert with TearsForFears Amazing! Just a Kick Ass relentless effort to your craft! Wow, You Definitely Stood Out during the last show of the tour. Thank you Thank you! 👊🏻👏🏻
This snare is attackie,and i love it.Very nice A+F.
More rig rundowns like this please!!!
Vicious groove and sweet sounding kit…congrats.
Tommy…. You have been one of my biggest influences. It blows my mind to see this comment. Your work with Travers and Ozzy shaped the way I EVER viewed double bass drumming.
You made my heart overflow.
Thank you for this. Much respect 🙏🏼❤️
@@jamiewollam1113 Bless ya dewd!:-)
HOLY $#!+ THE Tommy Aldridge! I still have your VHS, "TA2 Beyond the Groove"! Thank you for all your contributions to the drumming community Tommy! All the best to you....
@@thejohnnydavidson right?!?!?!
Your, Sound 'Llve' is fantastic. Thanks for taking time to fill Us in -Peace.
I marched Bluecoats with Chris Mead! What a small world. Saw you guys in Denver this year. So good. And your drumming was so solid.
Magnificent drums.
Dude’s a professional 👍🏼
This guy is awesome and lovable. My respects!
Great video mate - saw the YT vid of your playing in the studio with Tears ... awesome :)
Awesome video on Jamie's current kit...Thanks for posting...!!
Thanks for that tour of your rig. I’m only a bar band drummer but won’t gig without my Porter and Davies BC2. Connects me to the instrument. Great piece of gear.
I agree P&D has changed everything for me.
I caught the show in Los Angeles...AMAZING!!! xo
Very nice kit. Been a fan of this band for many years. Great vid! Thanks!!
great drummer
This is so good! Saw Jamie with TFF in Charlotte this summer and the band was outstanding (along with Butch Vig and Garbage - Butch just drives steady!). Love the gear run down, and "the beat" at the end! I can't get that freakin beat without ghost notes on snare! Maybe it has something to do with the Rosanna shuffle living rent free in my head! Great vid, and great dude!
Amazing drummer, first time I saw him live was some more years ago in Amsterdam with a band called Venice, wauw what a power drummer. 😍👊🏻💥
We are covering this song in my band and it took a few minutes for me to dial this one in. I watched quite a few videos and it’s second nature now but I feel like this is how it must be. You can’t think about it or at least I can’t. I hade to it perfect it then loosen it up and enjoy It. Great video. Love the kit.
Vicious groove and exquisite sounding kit…
saw this tour the next night. drums sounded perfect!
Congratulations to you Jamie! You’ve come a long way since I first met you in ‘98 when you played with Echo Love Chamber! Hope to see you out in the tour!
MISS YOU BROTHER!!!!!!!.....great video!!!!!!!!!!!
This was great! Answered all of my questions since the Chicago concert! See this tour, Jamie was incredible!
great drummer, super pro, and I am furious tears for fears are not in the rock and roll hall of fame yet, both them and wham are WAY over due and they truly deserve it.
i could hear the song when he played that beat. so awesome!
Sound amazing. 😍😍😍😍
Love it..Sounds awesome mate 👌
So looking forward to hearing you and that kit in Exeter uk !!!! Hope they don’t cancel the show again !!!!!
Epic drums and bass on Tipping Point tour at the fabulous Forum.

Great sounding kit...snare...love it.
Incredible rig! A&F sound great! Along with Remo Fiberskyn batter side and Skyntone Resonance side.
Interesting comments about sticks, I too get blister but only playing outdoor festivals - weird. Think I'll try those sticks just out of curiosity - thanks
good info love gooch full of knowledge
Watch tears for fears at longleat what a superb concert great drumming one of the best gigs I've seen
Interesting! I enjoyed seeing you guys in Cincinnati!
Thanks Jamie world class nothing less
All the very best
An amazing drummer! I always wondered why he wore sunglasses glasses on the TFF video. He just looked cool.But.most importantly the groove and the sound of his drums are amazing.
Deep groove. Killing 🙏
thanks for making TFF sound so GREATTTTTTT -- merciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!
West Palm Beach, as we call it The Coral Sky Amphitheater. Get venue! Sorry I missed these guys!!!!
Geeze I hope those drums aren’t as delicate as he says. Considering how expensive they are anywhere I’ve seen them, you wouldn’t think they would bend easily. They look really neat, I’ve been wanting to try out their hardware
Awesome drummer and awesome band!
Hey Modern Drummer- please use a lapel mic next time or something to help get the drummer’s voice.
I saw this guy playing that day . This was at west palm amphitheater.. he really good and the rudiments are decent
Nice man! so nice!!!!!
That beat is deceptively difficult but sounds simple, if played correctly. Also, I love a drummer who’s not afraid to crash on a ride, especially one that’s 26”!
Some rides sound amazing as crashes. Bonham's comes to mind, he used a couple of rides, I believe, and knew how to make them scream!
I used to be on the other side... No ride crashing,
BUT.... now I do it on some special spots, with very specific kind of ride and now I love it.
The A&F snare sounds great
Wait, 26 inch ride or kick drum?
Did they say it was 26? I had a 22 that was huge. 26 would be ginormous. LoL
Kit sounds amazing as does "the" beat.
I’m always impressed how drummers can play a tune without the vocal track to keep them on point in the song. I feel I would get easily lost and miss transitions
We lay down the foundation. The other musicians in a band look for us to anchor and control that process.
Actually, is easier without vocals.
@@PabloJ1968 That must mean you’re REALLY counting the bars of the music to stay where you need to be. Seems so difficult
Singing it in my head Lol 😂
@@walkerb1734 No, my friend. I learn the parts, melodies and interact, and lock with the other instruments, so vocals can have a big foundation. Later I learn only the important parts of the vocals only if they are meaningful to te music. Cheers.
Can someone get MD a shotgun mic or lav mic for these interviews? Can't hear anything Jamie is saying
Yup, and then they add a music bed underneath which makes it even worse. Come on guys, this is BASIC video production!
Sweet kit! Where were they at? Looks like Blossom Music Center.
Interesting 🥁👍🔥
What a great "feel." I know I'm kinda of stating the obvious... but it just sounds extremely comfortable.
Interesting vertical top down with snare and tom and spare fatter snare to the left. Plus the electro pads hybrid and invert splash. Neat.
He is sitting on a TRANSDUCER. What an awesome idea!!!
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the 'business' side of things when you get to this drummers level..? I'd love to know how it all stacks up..for example I presume he gets a tour fee? and then hires gooch himself as his drum tech? The gear is all supplied by relevant companies (free) as a sponsor/product placement type thing? Will he get to keep any of it, presumably all his and his techs expenses will be covered? And the supposed rude/crass question...what kind of fee would be expected for let's say a 6month tour?
I only ask, as the business side of things you very rarely hear about and it's always intrigued me
Typically, there is an owner of the band. ( on the older bands, it is commonly older members who have stayed with the band from its original line-up ) That owner contracts the two individuals, just like any other job. It can be one contract per show. ( especially for a new member ) It can be a contract for a full tour, it can be 7 shows, etc... Musicians can travel home for the week, now, as opposed to riding in convoys on busses. This saves time and money. There are many variables, and not one set standard, except that there are minimal standards and procedures. Usually equipment is free if you are sponsored, but, that sponsor has to match and meet standards, too. In some cases, the instruments, labor, or equipment are rented, by the band/business, for one show, in that city. This tour is likely to have everything managed by multiple disciplines, like sound, lighting, staging, etc... On a lower level, most musicians have to do everything on their own. These shows are expensive to run, but there are so many people to pay before the musician gets their cut. Ultimately, the way to make money is to own the original music. Tours are huge promotions for sales.
@@randombuilder01 thanks for the insight👍 yeah I suppose the more you think about it the more it becomes like any other business/contractor type work
@@Tony-kc5fi I'd say yes, but more hardcore. You pretty much need a lawyer to get through the contracts, and details. It is really easy to get short changed. If you are a sub contract, you own nothing, and don't make much.
Why would you have background music on a video where the interviewee is already very hard to hear at times?
jamie quite a shuffle grove, like the sound of your hats and snare, jeff porcoro had a shuffle similar, great job with tears for fears with kurt and roland better in studio than live!!!!!!
fiber skin Amb are same thickness, i believe its the spray coating that gives the feel of thicker head. Great kit Jamie.
got it. !
Can we get more cables to lay around the drums please? Lol
If you arent going to properly mic them up so we can hear them at least turn your music track down so we can hear them without subtitles.
So……Alesis Rather than Roland electronic toms? That’s interesting? I’ve been looking at the strike pro but it’s red not black?? They are not the strike shells?
As much as I would love to think that people are going to be there to listen to the drummer, they really are there for the memories of great songs from Tears for Fears. In others words, any decent drummer would do the job and people love those songs no matter who is playing on drums. With that being said, this drummer seem to be enjoying everything and his demonstration is enough to understand why he is drumming for them.
anyone know what cymbal stands Jamie is using?
Looks like A&F as well
@@thomaskennydrums thanks man, yes it is. Didn’t even know they had a range.
👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Why is the camera guy mic'd up but not Jamie? Lol
17:37 - money
That internal kick mic cable is floppin!
Great interview! Too bad they couldn't afford lapel microphones. Lol
3/16th's IS NOT thinner than a soup can lmao
You can barely hear whatever the drummers saying
calm before the storm and all those cancelled gigs
Sounds similar to "the way you make me feel"...Michael Jackson
Couldn't hear him very well
Single tensioni
BASS drum……..!
Jamie is really hard to understand and hear...
Dark, warm and round, why must drum terms be so stupid and meaningless! sound has highs, mids and lows.
We can't hear a word he's saying. I know: add completely irrelevant, annoying background music; that way, it will be even worse. Great idea.
Great drummer
