To be down on the beach and watching this as I was, you don't realise how much they have to go through performing these stunts. The Pacific Airshow is awesome on many levels.
I was impressed with how clear the MFDs were. Wonder if they adjusted the FPS/exposure of the cameras or maybe the Super Hornet has better displays something. Did anyone see how rough the turbulence was flying along the beach? Ouch😖
Having served in the RAAF for 18 years, a tour in Baghdad, Iraq at Camp Sather watching this Superhornet display at the Pacific Airshow actually had me in tears. This footage is brilliant as it also shows that inertia plays a massive part of being a jet Pilot. One of my jobs was an A/C refueller I’ve seen FA-18’s take the cable at night due to a PAN which in itself is impressive. I think I recall them saying this Pilot’s call sign was Woody…thank you so much for putting on such an amazing display and thank you for your service ❤️
Simply stunning. Plane is awesome, pilot is talented and how the WISO can do his work in the back seat during flight maneuvers under up to 8 G's is beyond belief. What a ride. Attended the airshow. Great work to all the pilots and the amazing planes. Thank you RAAF.
Thanks Royal Australian air force. Special thanks to the pilots and ground crew keeping these planes in the air. Wonderful that you can share this experience.
How many people went home and watched Top Gun after the show :) Brilliant display - so good splashing around in the water with this overhead. Hopefully it becomes a yearly fixture at the GC.
I watched this from the beach both Saturday and Sunday and the feeling on the ground was incredible. Everyone got up and walked to the shore to get a close look and the beach was dead quiet! Thank you for the amazing display!!
This is fantastic footage. I've never seen a pilot/WSO brace himself like this using a grab handle or arm against the canopy. Incredible. The roll rate of the FA18F is gob smacking. Well done whoever put this together in the RAAF.
@@randymarsh6679 its final manoeuvre it punches through the clouds and leaves the area without a sound leaving the crowd looking up:) (waiting for more:)

That was dope! Amazing footage. As an Aussie it makes me proud of our RAAF. I'm so glad you guys are out there keeping us safe. Thank you for your service for our country.
Wouldn’t that be a treat !!!!! I think they are a bit difficult to keep airworthy now given lack of parts and airframe weaknesses with age and high G’s of these type of aircraft. Great memories though.
WOW ! next best thing to sitting in the back for the ride. iIt'll never get as ' real as ' this. Seriously spectacular video. Beats watching all those vids here on RUclips that are filmed from the ground ! I remember when I was in RAAF, based at Pearce in 1986 thereabouts. I was sun backing on the top floor balcony facing the air field and these two 18's came screaming in one after the other very close together and low. The pilots put on a special show for everyone at the base. Fond memories. Thank you for your loyal service Gentlemen. Go Royal Australian Air Force.
Saw this on Saturday 19th August. FANTASTIC. The tail walk was incredible. When the pilot finished that and turned towards the ocean, I experienced the raw power of its engines. Unparallelled feeling‼️💓💓💓 Thank you❣️❣️❣️
Far out You really get a feel for how much stress the Airframe goes threw Amazing they don’t just shatter into pieces . And I’m sure it was at half throttle 😳
Phenomenal! Fantastic footage, showing the ferocity of working hard down low and fast. Love it, just aircraft noise, nothing else to distract, keep the video's coming RAAF 😊
10G in the Top Gun Maverick movie 🎬 ,,,, awsome display of skill shown by the pilot 👌 i felt like I was in the cockpit too while watching 👀 that on my big tablet screen,, well done by the RAAF , LOVE YOUR WORK
Show off! What a fabulous weekend, and all from the comfort of our front deck! Best event ever held on the Gold Coast, can't wait for next year. Big thank you for posting this video too! As I said before, SHOW OFF!
Thanks, that was great footage, did the Jungle Warfare Course at Canungra and flew out of the Gold Coast in a Hercules, the RAAF pilot flew along the Gold Coast beach at the Height of the Highrise buildings, had a beach side window seat, fantastic ride and view.
The F-111 at Caloundra air museum can still be used and would only take 1 week to become airworthy incase of a war etc it's a shame they had to berry most of them due to the asbestos used on the panels.
Awesome footage. I was at North Stradbroke Island in 2002, ankle deep in the surf, and me and my gf alone on the beach - when out of nowhere an F-111, at 90 degree bank angle and wings spread roared past us, clearing the water's surface by a couple of metres, tops. It was maybe 30 metres out from where I was standing as it tore by. Just jaw-dropping, and quite surreal given the idyllic location.
This cockpit footage is absolutely incredible! RAAF's best of the best! The FA-18 is my favourite fighter jet of all time. Tried to get into the pilot program back is 1997 after high-school and missed out for family medical history. It's all I ever wanted to do. Massive respect to the men and women who get to pilot these magnificent machines everyday in service to our nation of Australia. Can't wait for the expo and airshow in November 18-19 at Williamtown and Newcastle. Looking forward to the Roar of the F-35 flyover... it scared my pets half to death on the Anzac Day flyover.
Awesome on all levels. The capture of footage was par excellence, superb resolution and the use of actual sound in the cockpit was simply brilliant. Well done RAAF. Par Adua Ad Astra at Aero Regatta Del Sol!
That was awesome, thanks RAAF. The only thing I'd change is adding an air speed and altimeter in the bottom corner for greater perspective. But overall, brilliant.
The first time I ever saw the original Hornet was back in 1984 or 85 in Cairns. Two of them flew over the city and then went vertical. I was amazed at how fast they can disappear upwards. Ever since I have loved all the f18 variants, and the latest Super Hornet is one very beautiful bird.
Intense. This POV is always eceptional to see the wing - and all the inputs the computer makes, lots of movement. Thankfully, no music - this sound is awesome. Very cool.
Thanks so much for putting on an amazing show for us, I attended day 3, was outstanding to see the capabilities of these wonderful machines and their dedicated and talented pilots and WSO’S, keep doing us proud! Also a shoutout to the Roulettes for their awesome precision and doing what they do best. Without the PC21 as our flight trainer for new pilots we couldn’t have such a competent airforce.
man what a video. Those people in the tops of those towers looking down on the plane would be a great view. but what could possibly top the view from the cockpit of an air force plane. Best office view in the world
Awesome!!! Love the G force meter, though Altimeter and Airspeed would certainly be incredible. Saw the display all three days, got some great pics, amazing demo!
