@alexisstrother The person is saying that salt+water (which is what the girl tried) won't work the same as actual sea water. So instead they are recommending actually seawater(like, going to the beach and taking home some of the ocean water). The lady in the video did not try actual sea water.

Sometimes hormonal acne can't be treated with skincare products, I used to have acne just like you and it was because I was consuming too much dairy. I know it can also be caused by coffee or sugar. So you should try doing a week without dairy/sugar/coffee 😊

    • @Bellllllz
      @Bellllllz 10 месяцев назад +97

That's the thing too, is if you strip yourself of things like that, anytime you slip up and "need some cheese" or something, your skin will be absolutely destroyed overnight. It's better to consume less unless you're 100% okay with never consuming that thing again. Also if you stop consuming something you consume daily suddenly, your body can freak out and make you feel like crap, cold turkey isn't always the way.

@@Bellllllz yeah you're right but it also depends on where you are in your cycle. There are moments in your cycle where you won't get acne and moments where you'll break out like crazy because of the level of oestrogene you're producing during that time I believe. (For exemple if I consume milk a week before my period I'll get really bad pimples but if I consume it a week or 2 after my period then I won't get anything and my skin will still look good).
I still agree with you on the fact that it can be hard to stop when your body is so used to it.

I had perioral dermatitis, it looked just like this! Tried everything eventually succumbing to steroid creams but it always came right back. My face looked a little worse than hers when I went to my local clinic, and the ointment they kept prescribing me made it come back with a vengeance every single time.
Ended up going back to seasalt but I was then taught it was meant to be used in warm-water-hour-soaks twice a day instead of the cold-salt-in-the-spray-bottle. Which cut it back a lot more effectively, but never killed it completely because my nose obviously couldn't be submerged the entire soak sesh's. So the damn bacteria survived and rages around menstruation. Wreaking havoc on my face and chest currently, in smaller spread-out clusters that looks just like full-blown teen-level adulthood acne.
Just got some Nizoral antidandruff shampoo, so now I wonder if I can kill it washing my face with that and the salicylic acid soap and toner I also just got several days ago.

Try a steril saline spray (wound spray) from the pharmacy instead, and make sure not to touch your face as it will just put the dirt and oils from your hands onto your face. I spot treat by putting some hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip and applying it directly to the zit(s). When i had really bad acne, i took oral antibiotics prescribed by a dermatologist. I found out through trial and error that my skin now in adulthood is extremely dry, causing my acne (and wrinkles). I use heavy duty body moisturizers when i can buy them and literal olive oil on occasion. My acne flairups will get worse before they get better when i get back on a moisturizing routine, but after a week or so it clears up better than without moisturizers.

❤ Yeah, it always kills me when people don't realize how seriously freaking nasty tap water really can be, or how much different life (little Bacteria, Virus's, Protozoans, Viruses, Fungi, Helminths yk lotsa small stuff) can be contained in just one drop of water!
First thing I was thinking when she made her little mixture in the spray bottle that if she were really wanting to make anything of her own skincare, she should have sterile equipment, like gloves and clean beakers not just plastic measuring stuff.
But besides all that, I was concerned with how much life was present from the beginning & how many more would be there after a few days, or a week or two? It unfortunately clearly looks like she had quite a bit of spots with broken skin from the very beginning, which was already a real clear recipe for disaster, and then her putting all those little nasty's from that daaaaays old salty tap water spray on the broken skin is what really messed her up.
But I'm glad to hear she's going to an actual dermatologist who can help her with all this. & I feel like it's hopefully been an overall net positive for humanity well at least the part about her making this video showing her journey and eventual mistake. Hopefully some younger people could learn from this 'the easy way' or so they say. 😅

In my mid-20's, my acne started to resurface on my chin. In high school, I'd gotten concentrated amounts on the bridge of my nose and forehead but never chin. So when I got it on my chin, I had a feeling it was hornonal. Went to my derm, and the only thing that worked was adapalene and oral spironolactone, though I also had oral and topical antibiotics to first clear up the bacteria. In my late twenties now, and when my husband and I decided we wanted to start a family in the next year or so, I went off spironolactone and then adapalene (since retinoids aren't advised during pregnancy). And not surprisingly, the acne returned. I went to Curology, explained the issues, what worked, and why I went off it. I got a trial routine, and I still use the topical they provided today. Every so often, I'll get a single breakout, but so far, it has worked amazingly!

No medical background myself, but I've struggled with this too. I think it's worth thinking not about the microbes in the sea water but the salt. Salt dries out the breakout. Causing the irritating to appear to clear up. But the moment you stop using the irritants build back up and cause another flare up?

It's actually a combo of sun and sea water that makes acne better. If u buy a sun lamp (full spectrum) and spend a few mins plus sea water every day under it it may help more then just the water itself . My friend had bad bad bad back acne. One summer of us being out at the beach everyday by end of summer it was gone

Salt water is nothing like seawater. Also, my cousin had horrible cystic acne as a teen. When we went to the beach for a week, her skin looked amazing. But, seeing as she didn’t swim at all, it could not have been the seawater. The difference was actually because she hadn’t worn any makeup during the entire trip. And the sun may have helped as well. Once home, her acne came back worse then ever.

Rose hip oil for an even skin tone, it'll get rid of scaring and dark spots, it lightens skin. Rose water spray too. Witch hazel to dry up acne the astringent helps, it is an "old wives tale" because it does help. Use cotton ball and hold the witchhazel soaked ball to the acne (don't do it too long) vaseline will hydrate and protect from outside elements also (use after oils and waters to keep moisture locked in)

i have it, and it doesn’t look like acne, more like just red/pink around my mouth, but it can look like acne
the reason i had it was because i am allergic to gluten and eggs, and it is now starting to get better after cutting those things out.
i had to see a dermatologist and she gave me some tips, so that’s what i recommend

I wonder if it improving in the first few days and then worsening at the end (and you getting acne on your forehead) is instead indicative that your hormonal cycle is causing the worsening at the end? My understanding is that one week at the adriatic sea + 1 week back home + 1 week of new experiments means 3 weeks total? Also ik you’ve been getting a lot of comments about the microbiome in the sea water but I actually think the sun exposure would have more of an impact. It’s actually quite difficult to change the microbiome of your skin through topical application unless it includes some type of bacteriophage, because the microbiome of your skin is 1) not on the surface layer and 2) forms protective biofilms. It’s possible that you’ve tried it already, and unfortunately they are pretty expensive devices, but I do heavily recommend trying a combined blue light/ red light therapy. dl has some hand held devices that are more affordable, and even though they are expensive, they do last a lot longer than say, a single tube of skincare treatment.

I would recommend rosemary water! Boil organic rosemary to make the brown water. Refrigerate it and use it in a spray bottle. Acne in that region is usually hormonal, as well. So hopefully you are able to get help from your dermatologist. ❤

MSM natural vitamins is awesome for skin . I’ve used red marine algae ointment from green vibrance. Then put the dry powder on it .
    It’s crusty ,so night time.
I also use Emu oil with the msm powder.
It is amazing on burns . Antibacterial and anti viral . I also take it the powder in capsules.

i am from Adriatic coast, from whereabouts you visited. had face and body acne growing up, and during summers i went swimming almost daily, and skin would clear up beautifully. i always attributed it to the sea, felt like its desinfectant of sorts. it can be one step away from iritation and itcyness sometimes though, salt can be really harsh on skin.
then autumn would come, and within 10 days i would be back to my inflamed self once again. oh well..😊

Use moisturizer if you're spraying your face with salt water. Salt is drying, so its drying out your skin which is putting it hyper oil mode causing more breakouts while trying to replenish the moisture.

I think the thing is... or according to some doctor, sea water don't really clear acne. But it helps u relax, with is an important part of acne healing as anxiety and stress cause acne. And salt water could do the opposite of healing acne.. I think it is better if u search things up first. I hope your acne heal as fast as possible.

I am not a professional, but I did have acnes for quite some time. What helped me the most is getting my gut health fixed. Pro-Biotics, plus eating what I'm compatible with. It also helped with my overall inflammation. I don't think there is one super food or specific diet one should it to get it all fixed, I believe every body is different and everyone needs to find it out for themselves.

I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried diaper rash cream? The zinc oxide can help protect your skin. It's my secret weapon when I get breakouts. But it could be hormonal acne that you're experiencing so it might not be the solution. Worth a try though! I use Weleda with calendula. It's in the yellow tube.

Sweet beautiful girl, it is the fluoride in the water not just the stuff you are drinking but in the shower your body absorbs about 15% of water. I suffered from this for years of not wanting to go outside due to acne. Forget dermatologists they will just sell you expensive medications that won't likely help you because the cause is flouride in the water. Vacation somewhere where they only use natural tank rainwater.

It's not just sea it's sun too and sea salt can harm your skin if you apply too much you have to sprey it like 2 or 3 times under the sun until skin absorbs the water a little

  • @juisit
    @juisit 9 месяцев назад

While salt water can be great for your skin, I think using it that frequently would cause a lot of stress on your skin from drying out. Maybe try using it once or twice a week by letting it sit on your skin for a few minutes before washing it off gently in the shower. If you wash too harshly the salt crystals might irritate your skin as it comes off.
I have no background research on this but I've lived with ketosis Polaris all my life.
I'd also be careful with how many products you use on your skin. Since your skin is in a constant state of immune reaction it's very easy to set it off (even if it's not been flaring up for a while since it's a chronic condition).
