@Tyler Stalman What is it about an iPhone 11 Pro (as an example) that makes it a more viable camera option for professional photographers compared to something like a Note 20 Ultra. What is it an iPhone does/provides that other android cameras cannot with their multiple cameras? I'd really like to know?
Top tier cameras apps come to iOS first, Apple screens are calibrated to be much more accurate, they are more conservative with the processing so images look more natural, and most creatives prefer Apple products in general
Great review! This was exactly I was looking for as I am considering which phone to buy and I am specifically interested in the camera performance. Thank you!
Awesome video! The HDR really amps up the light flare from the fixtures. During the video portion vs the 11 Pro looked much better to me while filming.
Tessoro Desoto he said, it doesn’t really matter if they’re good (or advantages they have) and it’s a big difference. iPhone is both solid, and popular - thus is a standard in photo industry. And I totally agree. You see, phones like Samsung tend to use heavy processing to achieve good looking photo. Which is nice if you want that look. Pros prefere to do those adjustments and color corrections themselves, so they can make most of iPhone photos, and not, say, pixel photos (it is such heavy edit it’s basically irreversible). And apple totally recognize this and respect - thus ProRAW! A special node to pro creators. I even dare to say, if you want compare iPhone photos to android you should clic “autocorrection” for each photo you take, so iPhone can retouch it, the way android does without asking. And because android does this involuntarily it can be really annoying... like “face smoothing” on Chinese phones, or “skin whitening” on Samsung. And googles high contrast look is pleasing for the eye it’s actually opposite of what pro wants - look like footage looks out of, say, red camera before color grading... log etc.
@Tessoro Desoto I'm with you man, I looked back at his videos and saw no android reviews. Honestly, I use the Note 20 Ultra and my vids and pics come out more natural than other phones, but I miss my pixel 4 because it was the easiest point and shoot. I think the iPhone is the laziest way to shoot on a phone , because the pro mode I have takes time to set up. I understand why that is, however anyone who tries to compare, I always shut down when I show them my pics.
@Tessoro Desoto Almost every pro photographer I personally know and follow prefers iPhone photos and videos. Like what the other guy said, the iPhone photos have a more "flatter" image compared to the MAJORITY of Android photos. This gives the user more flexibility or adjustments on the photo when editing it and this is why a lot of people prefer the iPhone's images especially Photographers. Sure some of the post-processing stuff that happens to every photo on Android phones looks pleasing, but it is most appealing to the general/average user. But some of these post processing stuff can be irreversible when editing it (This is from a personal experience with Android phones). Even the majority of influencers who use their phones to take photos and videos are using iPhones for the same reason (I already explained it). Also, app compatibility and optimization. For some reason, Photo editing apps just work so much better on the iPhone and can handle iPhone photos well. I also tried this before on my Android phone and my friend's android phones and sometimes the image quality tends to degrade after editing (especially on Samsung phones/photos). "This guy is making you think iphones are the best phones PER most photographers, and even worse, trying to make you think the 12 is way better than the 11, when at the end he disclosures that he used that program to enhance the shots." -Now, he is a photographer. This video is clearly not intended for average users who just take photos and post immediately and that's it. Most professional, beginner or even hobbyist photographers edit their photos and this is one of the reasons why I subscribed to his channel instead of relying on camera reviews by tech channels because they don't really answer most of the questions on my head regarding the camera and image quality. Most of their reviews are made to fit the general public or average users. Both Android and iPhone cameras have significantly improved and we are already at the point where we choose phones based on which fits our preferences more. Pixel's photos have their charms especially with contrast, but when it comes to having a more "editable" photo, it is the iPhone.
Excellent! I was so close to ordering a 12 Pro, but now I’ll certainly hold out for that larger sensor and who knows what other goodies in the Max! Thanks very much.
Thanks for this review Tyler. I really can't wait for your review of the 12 Pro Max this year. I agree, it's gonna be a good jump up! 47% larger main sensor is huge! It's like going from a APS-C to Full Frame in terms of size jump. Really exciting stuff!
Thank you for making this review. I’m really glad youtube recommended it. I like how thorough it was and the comparisons were a great help in narrowing down the pros and cons. Stunning video!
And they didn't fix the lens flares like you were hoping for. I have an Android atm. I'm wondering if I should just buy the iPhone 11 and wait til they fix that lens flare next year. My decision will be made when you send out the pro max video. Thank you for the info!
Can the portrait mode and 2x digital zoom (to act like a telephoto lens) be used at the same time? If yes, is the quality still usable? What about 3x digital zoom?
Honestly I do not remember the last time I subscribed so fast to a RUclips channel. Very well done, nice pace and clean content. Keep it up! P.S. Reddit brought me here
I’ve always been amazed at how good video is on my XS, all the video on my channel that isn’t while riding (GoPro) is done with my iPhone. I’ve had comments asking me what kind of video camera I’m using in some videos LOL! I really hope someone figures out how to take advantage of LiDar to perhaps add fake bokeh to video, wonder if that’s possible?
Fantastic video. Looks like the biggest improvements are with ultra wide night mode shots and with selfie portrait shots. Seemed to be a pretty marginal difference for standard conditions. Looking forward to seeing the new sensor on the Pro Max!
I've been debating whether or not to buy a DSLR or an iPhone 11 or 12. I've wanted a DSLR for years... but I'm learning my old iPhone 6s and Lightroom take the same level of pictures as a DSLR. And it's always in my pocket. I don't see the point of investing in a digital camera and lenses when a phone takes the same pictures and costs a third less.
just sharing my experience, when shooting with my 200d with 50mm 1.4f and 11 pro max on the same day event. in thumbnail the 11 pro max is very great convincing photo but when you put it on the big screen you can really see the difference between this two. even when im using the stock kit lens 35-55mm 4.5f its still big diff when you got it in post editing. just a suggestion for u sir if you want to shoot professionally or great photos just get a dslr + XS Max or 11, but if you are the type of Snap then Edit then go with this 11 pro or 12 . :))
Hey Tyler, a huge thanx for such an amazing camera review! It’s great to see the professional side of view on all of the new iPhone camera features. However, may I point on something which I’ve noticed in pretty much all of your videos: Can you please please please add a background music to your videos?🙏🏽 Honestly, your videos are dope, but it gets a little hard to watch attentively with 100% focus till the end, especially when there’s such a plethora of info. With the different background music it will be much greater to listen to what you talk about and there will be no need to constantly pause it and have a few seconds rest. Please consider it to your upcoming videos as I find them really useful especially during the photo shoots on a daily basis. Cheers

Excellent! I was so close to ordering a 12 Pro, but now I’ll certainly hold out for that larger sensor and who knows what other goodies in the Max! Thanks very much.
Fricking finally! Amazing review as always. Can't wait to test the phone out myself.
What's the best raw software for iPhone photography?
Cheers!
Hello, can you please make a playlist about mobile photography. I love your videos :)
Bought my new iPhone last week and am lovinn it!!!
Tyler any chance you’ll look at a note 20 ultra? I would be interested in your characterization of its quality and flaws.
Any idea when you’re doing a comparison between the 12 pro max vs the regular pro?.. would love your input .. thanks
Great review, will the iPhone 12 mini have similar camera features?
Thanks for this review Tyler. I really can't wait for your review of the 12 Pro Max this year. I agree, it's gonna be a good jump up! 47% larger main sensor is huge! It's like going from a APS-C to Full Frame in terms of size jump. Really exciting stuff!
Very very nice video!!!! one question, 11 pro or 12 basic?
I love your videos ever since I saw your first one with the IPhone 11. I will be getting the IPhone 12 Pro Pacific Blue.
Iphone 12 pro or iphone se 2 and a sub 600 dslr?
There aren’t really any worthwhile DSLRs for the less than $600, and you’ll get more benefits than the better camera from the 12
Thank you for making this review. I’m really glad youtube recommended it. I like how thorough it was and the comparisons were a great help in narrowing down the pros and cons. Stunning video!
Does iphone 12(not pro)has portraid mode?
Yes
This was one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen, really enjoyable and complete about the cameras. Keep it up! 👍🏻 😁
I love your mic. What one is it mate?
And they didn't fix the lens flares like you were hoping for. I have an Android atm. I'm wondering if I should just buy the iPhone 11 and wait til they fix that lens flare next year. My decision will be made when you send out the pro max video. Thank you for the info!
Yeah the flares are still crazy this year, I really hope they can figure them out soon
"There is no dynamic range outside." hahah
OUTSIDE, XD

lol this guy always somewhere making corrections
kkkkkk vc tá sempre corrigindo os outros
One of the best reviews that I've stumbled upon.
Great video. Your videos are always so beautifully lit and shot. Best iPhone 12 camera review I’ve seen.
Thoughts on the new ipad air and how that could fit into a photographers workflow compared to the pro?
Great video man- I’m waiting on the Pro Max as well. I’ve nearly given in a few times and ordered the Pro, but I’m staying strong!
this is exactly what i needed, i am no pro photographer but i just wanted to make sure that iphone 12 pro is right phone to go for.
Keep it up!
P.S. Reddit brought me here
It definitely looks good as outdoor vlogs.., although I still prefer my Canon R, the small factor and good quality camera is tempting !
I couldn’t wait for your Pro Max review. I’ll head to your podcast after watching your vid I’ve been a big since you just started on YT 🙏 thank you!
Had been waiting for this!! 😁
The shots look awesome and the video is Great! 👏🏼
Yes even i noticed how great it is in low light. Much brighter.
I can only imagine what the max is gonna do
Hey Tyler, a huge thanx for such an amazing camera review! It’s great to see the professional side of view on all of the new iPhone camera features. However, may I point on something which I’ve noticed in pretty much all of your videos:
Can you please please please add a background music to your videos?🙏🏽 Honestly, your videos are dope, but it gets a little hard to watch attentively with 100% focus till the end, especially when there’s such a plethora of info. With the different background music it will be much greater to listen to what you talk about and there will be no need to constantly pause it and have a few seconds rest.
Please consider it to your upcoming videos as I find them really useful especially during the photo shoots on a daily basis.
Cheers
Great video from a first time viewer. So......when will the 12PM tests’ embargoes be lifted? I’ve got a 12P on order for delivery on 9th Nov.....But do I bin it and order the 12PM?
I am a photographer and I want to upgrade my iPhone 6s to either the the iPhone 11 Pro or 12 but I haven’t been able to decided because of the cameras. This video is very helpful, I am getting the 12.
Got the 12. I don’t regret it 😁
Nice!! How are you attaching the MagSafe to the tripod?
I had to pause at min 5 just to comment that I’m disgustedly amazed and in awe of your video quality review. You def. got my sub. 👍🏼
This was super helpful! I loved seeing all the side by side comparisons of the photos taken from different iphones
