  • In this video, I went offshore bottom fishing 18 miles offshore of Tampa Bay, Florida in 65' of water with my buddies Jordan and Jason (from JC Fishin). The goal for the day was to target keeper size gag grouper, mangrove snapper, and hogfish while using pinfish, greenbacks, and shrimp as live bait. We used knocker rigs with circle hooks for all of our setups. The spot we were fishing was a 5' ledge surrounded by rocks and hard bottom. We immediately started hooking up to fish as soon as our baits hit the bottom!

Nice video man. Ill give you a tip: when you're keeping fish, bring a bigger cooler and make a saltwater slurry with your ice. It will keep the fish super cold and your fillets will be much firmer.

Fishing offshore with inshore gear looks good, but waste time bringing in larger species. A 30#-50# outfit with a big bate could boat largies quicker and give others more fishing time.
