Great video and very good explanation. I have always created presets from the audit software. But based on this tutorial, now I can use the pedal itself to do much more. Make more of these video's.
Thanks, will subscribe. I have a BOSS ME-70 for the last 11 yrs, and lately, has given me some fits. SO, last weekend, I ordered this unit, and is due for delivery this SAT.Question #1 of 2 ----I'm assuming the best way to set this unit up as you went over, is to actually plug in your EG. That way you can use the 4-5 variable knobs below the screen, to get the "sound" you want. Also WHY do you have your cabinet at the very end. I wish more YT presenters would state the WHY in some cases. Just a suggestion for future vids. Looks like I have my work cut out setting it up. I play on a Worship Team at my church, so frankly, simplicity is King....My main setups will be a compressor, some overdrive for a Vol boost for riffs, delay and reverb. That's pretty much IT! I also want to incorporate the VOL pedal for "Ambient Swells". Thanks again. PS----I did skim through the Manual online, and for "Amp and Cabinet" choices, they are pretty overwhelming, and to me, not labelled really well when you scroll through them on the unit's screen, like in maybe choosing a "Clean Amp" with maybe a Vox or Fender. No real need for any "crunch of Fuzz tones" either! haha
That's a very useful video! But on the snapshots example (like 5:20) maybe something went wrong because the reverb mix on snap4 is just the same as the others... would you check that?
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial no problem sir! So how would you make that parameter assigned? Because it looks like you are doing the same thing as the others that are working...
Hi Jason, love your work. I know the Pod Go is quite old now but it would be great to see a video going into some detail about using your Pod Go with a Amplifier and different ways of using it and setting it up. For example I have seen that you can set the Helix to do channel switching for your amp and program this into a preset. Can this also be done on the Pod Go? I have a Marshall JVM 410 which has a lot of channel switching and pedal programing options in the first place and would love to see what can be done to simplify everything with the Pod Go? I would be great to see a detailed video about using it and setting it up with your amp tones/ Gain sound and setting up the effects and presets around your actual amp sound. And maybe ways to deal with Hum, As I go through the different channels and different modes of each channel the hum gets louder and louder. Like really loud, I am running the 4 cable method but how can I set my JVM up with the Pod Go to be able to utilize all my channels and modes the easiest way and reduce the noise? Cheers
Thank you for your help. I have one of my channels setup where I have and overdrive on the same switch as my reverb. I like that setup because it makes it easy to hit one switch like an off and on. But after watching this I think I should go setup a snapshot. The way I have it, I can't add delay (or can I?)
Great video Jason! When you were creating snapshot D, you increased the delay. Could you have also changed the type of delay from Simple Delay to Transistor Tape when creating snapshot D if you wanted ? Thanks!
late to the party here but I understand it like creating the overall patch is setting up specific pedals for your pedalboard, and each snapshot is really just having certain pedals on or off from your board, and their respective parameters changed.. you wouldn't necessarily be swapping pedals in between songs Haha SO thats why I think it functions that way. Still a lot of bang for the buck especially w the additional footswitch 7/8 if you are able to use it. I've seen a lot of worship guys rave about this thing and the hx stomp I think with its snapshot mode
Jason - amazingly helpful video! Question, tho - at the end of the vid, you show movement between Preset Mode and Stomp Mode. Is there a way - visually on the display or some other olace - to tell what mode you're in? All I can make out is that Preset Mode only has one ring lit in red, and Stomp Mode has the various effect colors lit up. Is that the only way to tell?
Thank you but I think the manual states otherwise - let you know when I get one :) having had the Helix LT I never had to use midi but had to let it go so needed a decent interface so I will use Podgo basically for an interface - not much more money than lets say a AXE I/O which I am now returning to many pops and lag which I never had on my LT
I'll be honest and wish I had your excitement with this unit. Only bought it due the fact that I was a few pennies short of the Helix and was familiar with some L6 products. Got it in front of me and am bummed that it's very limited to effects. May trade it in for the Mooer GE300.
I'm more of a Randall head guy as I get older and feel like these amp and cab mixes lack definition and clarity. Think I'll try and do what you did and get the Mooer Radar for this. Not really liking the high gain options so far. Also, the 300 let's you place the mic anywhere. With this, only controls distance.

Great Vid, but... My snapshots do not save parameter changes, only on/off status. I have checked that the snapshot edits in the global settings are set to 'recall'. Anyone able to help? Only difference I can see in the video (e.g. 4:23) the mix percentage in the delay settings is white and has brackets around it, when I try, it is green without brackets. driving me crazy.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Thanks for the reply, actually figured it out - I didn't realise you had to press the parameter knob down whilst turning to activate the white digits.
On the delay....I assume when you step on the footswitch and it switches to the dotted eighth and higher feedback, that you can use the tap tempo to sync it with the song. But is it possible for the quarter note setting to not respond to the tap tempo? I usually like a "standard" amount of delay....not exactly slap back but similar.....
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial....is there a general rule of thumb for setting the master volume and channel volume for a patch? I assume you need it in a certain range to make sure FOH has a good signal without having to run the unit volume knob wide open. I know people love to say whatever sounds good to you but surely you've found the sweetspots.....And I'll probably use the AC30 amp if that helps.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial ....ok. I knew about the volume knob for FOH....just assumed when building a patch with an AC30 that you typically wind up with master at "x to x" and channel at "x to x".
Question. Can you set up a snapshot using the expression pedal as a wah where back is completely off (so there is no tone coloration) and as soon as you start pushing it down, it engages and of course wah back and forth so you dont have to click a button to turn it on or off
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial i just tested it.. dies not work.. all the others switch, snapshots does not.. .. and copy to the other pedal over rights the snapshot
When I'm in snapshot mode editing if I adjust the reverb mix it affects the entire preset. Instead of for each snapshot. Am I not doing something right or has it been changed
Hello, very good video. Is it possible to hace different amps for different presets? Lets say one amp for my rhythm sound and another one for my clean sound?
How do you set up a snapshot as the “favorite?” I’ve got a preset where I have two snapshots. 1 is basic distortion. 2 is distortion with delay. Whenever I go to it, it always picks 2 as the default, and I then have to pick 1.
Hi everyone, on Snapshot mode i can turn on / off the effects, but doesn't save the changes on the leves (mix, drive) between the snaps, any solution? Thanks!
Can you save over the factory presets so that buttons 1 2 and 3 are all custom created sounds that you made? For example I want a high gain sound for 1 button.....a lead sound for another button, and a clean with chorus on another button......all three different amps. Is this considered preset, patches, or snapshots? It gets confusing
I have a pedalboard that I use for shows made up of all individual pedals that I leave in my rehearsal space and I really wanted an all-in-one solution (that is not as pricey as the Helix) for recording at home. I bought the Pod GO to replace my HX stomp because there are 6 programmable footswitches instead of 3 but it's a bit misleading because although you get two expression pedal effects (vol. and wah) and 6 effect blocks, every preset you make will come with a wah and volume pedal, an EQ pedal and an FX loop block and YOU CANNOT DELETE ANY OF THEM! The wah and volume makes sense but I feel like EQ and an FX loop would be two of the last blocks I would need and the first ones I would sacrifice to run other blocks. An EQ is nice to have in the chain but do I need a footswitch for it? No, I would just leave it on. I like to use a compressor and reverb as well but again, things that I leave on and don't need a switch for. With the Pod Go, if it's in the chain, you HAVE to assign it to a switch. The other block they force you to have is the FX loop. This is nice if you want to run other pedals, but I would much rather have an editable block with the OPTION of an FX loop if I really wanted to expand but I don't want to be forced to have it. How many people that are using the Pod GO with the intention of adding anyway? It feels like it's supposed to be an all-in-one device. It does come with an EXP input where you could connect a third party footswitch to control more blocks but since they only give you 4 blocks (5, if you count the unremovable EQ), there's noting to control! I guess if you use snapshots this could be helpful but I just like to use stomp mode. Just wanted a VOX AC30 tone with 6 effects of my choosing. Nope. Perhaps they will add more blocks in an update but at this price point, I doubt it's possible. I do really like the size and the large display with a simplified interface and sounds just as good as my HX stomp. I guess what I'm looking for is something between the HX Stomp and the Helix LT. I've been using Line 6 gear for 20 years and I was so excited to get this as I thought it would be my all-in-one recording solution but I'll just stick with my HX Stomp and build a small board with some additional pedals. If I'm totally way off here or someone has any ideas, I would love the feedback.
Do you address using the fx loop for a d.i. out in any of your videos? I'm trying to sort out other videos that mention it but can't seem to make it so I get my modeled amp on a standard mono out and then a dry signal to my daw for re-amping using helix vst.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial I actually sorted it out. main mono out= modeled out, fx send = dry signal. I then just used Helix vst in DAW for my direct signal. Worked like a charm
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial So can I do both modeled mono out and USB for dry? I like to just mute my dry signal when tracking since I have a tone I like for my main guitar tracks, the dry track is for a blend usually.
Hi! Is there a way to change one of the 4 pedals to a different pedal from one snapshot to another? For example, in snapshot one I want regular overdrive, but in snapshot two, I want in the same position to have fuzz instead, with all of the other pedals remaining the same. I can’t seem to make that work
@@roccanto86 i dont think a update will make it possible, the reasons are , in my opinion : DSP last in first instance, and , no TAILS possible from a device to a other one.
@@samueldeliard no u can't, the pod go only has 4 blocks open for effects, so u can only assign distrotion, reverb, modulation, etc to those 4 blocks, the 2 extra footswitch control the fx loop and the eq or you can set parameter for other effects
How advanced can I set this thing up? Example can I have my amp bipassed just to use pedal amp sims and effects through my speaker on my JVM 410c without any tone colouring by my amp? Can I have it set to change effects and select the best amp channel at the same time? So having the amps distortion for some sounds with just affects? Just trying to see how I can best set this with my Marshall JVM 410, if it’s not possible to control channels then I need to find a way to bypass and basically use the amp as a 100 watt speaker where tones come purely from pedal with no amp interference... Otherwise I will have a poor tone or have to manually switch channels on amps depending on effect which is also a pain Any suggestions would be appreciated. Have t bought this yet but once I know I can get this set up right... I will pull trigger
Jason Constantine thanks so much for the reply, do you think this pedal is worthwhile and worth bypassing a solid amp such as this for the tones it can produce or would I be making a huge mistake and be sacrificing a natural tones for something that is not so much?
It does! Played around with it a bit last night Has Undo, continual loop, one time play through and also 1/2 time and reverse looping - if you need that ha. Can also adjust the overdub volume vs the playback volume and add high and low cuts to it too!
Very clear helpful video thank you. My absolute number one hate is having to press 2 foot-switches simultaneously to enter a function. On Pod Go you have to do this to switch between snapshot and preset mode, and you need to keep them pressed to scroll through these. At home it's a nuisance but it's an absolute no-no when gigging. It's awkward and uncomfortable and I do not want to have to worry about mis-hitting these with my feet at a gig during a set. This is frankly piss poor design on an mfx tthat's supposed to be designed for gigging players. There is an option to add two momentary unlatched pedals but as far as I see from the manual these only give you two extra stomp switches. Is there any way one can be set to be a single foot operation toggle between stomp and snapshot and the other a single foot controlled scroll? This is such a major bug-bear that if this isn't possible and if Line 6 don't fix this, I'm not buying it.
I agree, this is a horrible feature, beyond horrible. I have this 'Go' on order, will be going back probably after first gig, there is nothing more frustrating than trying to patch up or down and find out in the middle of a solo , that you can't play, you have to stop and try to figure out wht you accidently hit and how to get back to where you were. Not looking forward to this arrangement at all.
@@bikersoncall Actually, I'm very pleasantly surprised how easy the two button press is in Pod Go - I've honestly not been caught with mis-pressing it once since I got it. I think the sensitivity is just right and its because the two button switch is vertical not horizontal. I wouldn't have believed it following all my other two button experiences with EG Zoom G5, Vox Tonelab EX etc, but it really isn't an issue in Pod Go.
Just received one and your vids are a great help. Question, when you say putting the effect after the cab is that like thinking of it being assigned to the created setup as a virtual internal effects loop?
It would be great if line 6 updates the POD GO so that you can remove / change blocks that you are stuck with such as the eq or wha, I NEVER use a wha pedal, I rarely use EQ. This is the main reason why I am still thinking about buying it or not.
get a HX effects then. even: no amps no preamps , its for effects pedal far more possible. external EX.pedal , MIDI, AMP Channel change,2 FX loop, MANY effects you can put within a chain , and per snapshots even SWAP on every snapshot for ex. 4 delays. wich is not possible with POD GO. i was thinking about to get a POD GO, but finally that device is much to restrictive. I prefer the , by far , more flexible HX effects. matter of taste and opinion, of course
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial thanks man i got it How about new presets is it possible to delete a preset and copy paste it to the other letter of a preset? Ex. A preset copy paste to B so i could i have the same cab and same amp on it
So, Line 6 really needs to bring something attractive for the Hx stomp because with the pod go the stomp just doesn't make sense, the only good thing left is the dual path but if you use double amp basically you're out of DSP so the way I see this, either they lower the price of the Hx or add an expression pedal for the same price...
So good... This is where I learned how to use Snapshots! Forget everything else! Thanks Jason.

@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Hey Jason, Thanks for this feedback, it was very helpful. You're right, I should have done more research.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Thanks Jason! I returned it and saving up for a Helix!
Does this unit have PreAmps...or just AMPS?
Thanks!
Hi! Is there a way to change one of the 4 pedals to a different pedal from one snapshot to another? For example, in snapshot one I want regular overdrive, but in snapshot two, I want in the same position to have fuzz instead, with all of the other pedals remaining the same. I can’t seem to make that work
Maybe I'm getting out of topic, but this feature is avaiable on Headrush, maybe in another software update, line 6 will include it
@@roccanto86 i dont think a update will make it possible, the reasons are , in my opinion :
DSP last in first instance, and , no TAILS possible from a device to a other one.
hey i’m very confused on how to use the wammy pedal, whenever i try to use the pedal with the wammy assigned nothing happens
Jason Constantine ahhhh thank you!
Thank you so much!!1
How can I pull up a factory preset, change a few things and then save it as a preset or snapshot?
When In Stomp View can you use all 6 buttons to use 6 different effects
So in theory could I have 2 delay 1 verb 2 drive and a compresser
Otherwise I will have a poor tone or have to manually switch channels on amps depending on effect which is also a pain
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Does the POD GO Has an on-board looper
It does! Played around with it a bit last night Has Undo, continual loop, one time play through and also 1/2 time and reverse looping - if you need that ha. Can also adjust the overdub volume vs the playback volume and add high and low cuts to it too!
Hey, does anyone know if I can do a phrase loop on the POD GO? I can't seem to find anything on that. Thanks!
Apparently there's a 16 second looper.
I have this 'Go' on order, will be going back probably after first gig,
there is nothing more frustrating than trying to patch up or down
and find out in the middle of a solo , that you can't play, you have
to stop and try to figure out wht you accidently hit and how to get back to where
you were.
@@richardbirch5744 Good to hear that, mine
should be here today.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial I know, but the previous POD had that feature so would think a newer version would offer the same.
get a HX effects then. even: no amps no preamps , its for effects pedal far more possible.
external EX.pedal , MIDI, AMP Channel change,2 FX loop, MANY effects you can put within a chain , and per snapshots even SWAP on every snapshot for ex. 4 delays. wich is not possible with POD GO. i was thinking about to get a POD GO, but finally that device is much to restrictive. I prefer the , by far , more flexible HX effects. matter of taste and opinion, of course
How wah works because the green light is on the vol exp 2
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial got it man one more question abouy the tap.. how it works on delay?
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial thanks man i got it
How about new presets is it possible to delete a preset and copy paste it to the other letter of a preset?
Ex.
A preset copy paste to B so i could i have the same cab and same amp on it
Hello. Can you name the snapshots at all?? If so do you mind guiding me through a little bit
thank you, man!
By why aren't you showing how to assign an effect to the expression pedal?
Go to the Wha Block and then follow the instructions in the video.
Jason Constantine That’s strange pricing. Here in England Stomp and GO are the same price.
My patches dont save whatsoever. whether in user or preset mode.
1. Make sure you are saving after every change.
2. Make sure you are saving to the right preset in the right bank.
I figured it out- the damn thing was in demo mode.
thanks!!
Don’t see the difference a snapshot and a preset.
Snapshots are WITHIN a preset and allows you to chance the settings in the preset on the fly.
