    Koki is playing smart here, he knows he can't beat Ma' with power to power shots so he use his quick flick and back hand to do the trick.. and he is not just back spinning the ball with a normal side spin but with a twist of underspin as well... Ma' is confuse with the ball co'z when he hits it, the ball goes long.... One good sample of control over power.... Kudos to KOKI for putting a big question to Ma's mind :D I still love Ma for being a brilliant player :D

    I have been watching Ma Long's games for couple of years now, barely have seen him so nervous and stressed out. Of course kudos to Koki, he did a great job but this Ma Long for some reason was faaaaar from what he is capable of. I really hope he can recover this and goes back to his victory chain cause without Ma Long in form, TT is not much fun!!

    In fact Ma Long's backhand is what he can count on in any situations, though, when he gets stressed his forehand becomes a little unstable, that's why he lost this match, the first in a year and a half against a non-chinese player though. Nobody's perfect mates. And Koki's a great player there's not really any point to argue about anything here..

    DA FAQ did I just watch?!
    Koki played very clever, not rushing.
    On the other hand Long was under biggest pressure in his life probably - alone (without any teammates), total favorite...
    Koki will get huge amount of points after this victory. He deserves them all, he is growing up and showing he has THE GIFT... The gift to match Chinese !!! Keep working and never stop like Europeans did.

    Ma Long's weakness is that he gets mad nervous in some games. Zhang Jike and Ma Lin have the best mental toughness and is not afraid to show their power even when their mental burden is great. Ma Long sometimes needs to loosen up and enjoy the game without restricting himself.

  • @tornadoakias
    @tornadoakias 12 лет назад

    correct..if you study Ma Long as i do you can understand that his weak point is backhand over backhand all the time..except for this Koki responded pretty fast in Ma Long's forehand top spins and played close to the table..repsect for Niwa Koki,a rising star..but let's not forget that Ma Long is tired in the last 3 months due to multiple trainings for the Olympics..

  • @shootermck
    @shootermck 12 лет назад

    A lot of you are saying his backhand is weak. In this match, his forehand let him down. Good on Niwa on capitalized on Ma Long's mistakes.

  • @scylla24
    @scylla24 12 лет назад

    Honestly I feel like a lot of people are making this loss more than it is. A couple of years ago Ma Long lost 4-0 to Seiya Keisikawa, but you would have to be absurd to say that Ma Long isn't the better player. Koki's play style matches well against Ma because he stays close to the table and is good at quick shots that give people slow reaction time. When you combine that with Ma's break neckspeed game, it means that even someone like Ma Long will have a hard time to react.

    New incoming Japanese player are more inventive regarding the pace and rhythm given in the short game and mid distance. Less power and robot drill player like Chinese may be sometimes...but the Chinese are incredible to integrate in their tuition the top notch skills of the other countries.

    Koki is a quick left handed player. He was able to return the ball quickly by flicks, block, and quick wrist movement before even Ma Long can whind up his powerful loops.

    because niwa is so short he plays near the table with fast countershots...thats why ma cant top spin with his forehand fast enough cause he need more time to prepare his forehand. In slomo u can see he get the arm behind his back and right before a shot he swing his arm a second time back...

  • @TheTTstudio

    can you challenge the play like in Tennis????

  • @17teacmrocks
    @17teacmrocks 12 лет назад

    koki niwa has one of the fastest strokes in the game. kenta as we all know is fast with his compact strokes, even faster than ma lin. side by side koki was even faster than kenta so i think he's probably the fastest in the world at the top level.
    he's still developing yes, but he's still physically limited due to his short stature. he's prone to missing smashes which some players will take advantage of.

  • @grandkarate
    @grandkarate 12 лет назад

    guys just so you don't worry, ma long still qualified for the olympics even though he lost this match

  • @TheTTstudio
    @TheTTstudio 12 лет назад

    I think Ma Long's backhand is normally perfect. However, here we can see that Ma is so nervous that he couldn't play his backhand well enough. If you say that his worst stroke is backhand then it is probably right but it's not his weak point. His mental weakness make him concern too much about his backhand and play too carefully. You can see in other videos that Ma Long's backhand is really crazy (for example Ma Long vs Timo Boll at China vs world 2011)

  • @subrock007

    you must be joking, you don't get to be number 1 without a good package of everything. Ma Long is a smart player, there is no doubt about it. Even if what you said was true, clearly Ma Long has enough muscle that he doesn't need brains since even despite this one single game, he pretty much dominates everyone, and has done so for the past year in particular. He has hardly lost any sets in all the tournaments he has played in the past year, thats a lvl of domination we haven't seen probably ever.

    I agree that he has an incredibly fast stroke, but as you rightly said also, he has alot a limitations based on his size and stature. Based on those limitations, i say he has a few more years before he can be a legitimate top player in the world.
    With that said, Ma long as 1 of the most technical and dominant players that table tennis has ever seen should not be losing to Koki Niwa at least not yet.
