I guess the real Suicide Squad was Rocksteady all along, RIP a once great company
😂
people joke, but i dont think most know how on the nose this comment really is. most of the company, including its founders, have all left the company, replaced with unqualified. and a consultant company wrote the game. its literally not the same company.
The older devs and co founders already left
Poetic really lol
The game is fine. Youre just too poor to afford it be real.
That's 6,000 more players than this game deserves at this time.

Doesn’t matter if it’s outright bad like Gotham knights, or extremely liberal brain slop like rings of power. He just doesn’t care. He will consoom. And it sucks cause he is like the coolest guy ever too lol
Right, what exactly are we voting for here?
the real copium is in the comments. People will never stop buying stupid shit.
It’s sad that this is how they went from the Batman games to this
Gordon: this is how batman, rocksteady and suicide squad died
it hits me real bad because the og batman voice actor is gone... damn bruh
Well this is something people don't really understand. A game studio isn't a company, name or organisation, it's just the people working there. If all those people left, it might as well be a brand new company. This is what happened to bioware and blizzard - they were amazing studios because they had amazing developers in them. Then the money and executives flowed in while those developers left. People talk about the 'fall' of these studios but they didn't 'fall', they stopped existing years ago. In reality, those people formed new companies and they are unsurprisingly making hugely successful games as 'indie' and 'unknown' studios. @diomedes7971
Yeah, the og devs noped out after publishers said no to their Superman pitch in favor of a live service piece of trash.
There was never a superman game but they were making a Batman game about Damian Wayne and after it got leaked they cancelled it.@@changer_of_ways_999
The worst part is that each superhero died in the same manner, being shot to death. There was no inventive methods, no clever tricks, no rouse. Just bang, ya dead son.
While yes, these are not the proper JL members, WB just screwed it because they want a season model.
Superman didn't die when getting stabbed with green Kryptonite. Now I'm not the biggest Superman fan but even I know he'll die when stabbed through the chest with a giant chunk of green Kryptonite lol
@@ApostleOfZeus199 Yes, but, its Superman... "Faster than a speeding bullet" means nothing now I guess. That Superman and Flash (who are in many instances, even in the game) faster than a bullet get killed by bullets. Right. if it was this simple then why do they even need the Suicide Squad and not some special forces military group with krypto bullets then?
@@Stormdraka Did you just ignore everything I wrote to preach at me?
As I said, they're not the real members of the League.

I'm just saying they screwed themselves by doing it via the live service model.

All the original devs that made Batman Arkham serie are already left the studio, you can check it from the game credit
And it has been 9 years since they last released a game. 9 years. It's forever. A lot of talent just sitting there, wasting, and at last forced to make open world live service looter shooter buzzword crap salad. What a travesty.

Idk, I think is how you handle it, for example fallout new Vegas has q guy in power armor that happens to be gay (for the time that could classify as woke) that let you have extra interactions if you're a man, thing is, the character is well done, he doesn't scream hes gay, he isn't special from the rest, the guy tells he is gay after you spend time with him, I wouldn't say go woke go broke, is more of not knowing how to write characters wich is a problem in nowadays games.
And I'm saying it as gay myself, I cringe when companies adds characters wich only remarkable quality is that they are gay, it's worse than not having that representation, if they don't know how to make it they shouldn't do it
@cristobalbarra583 Arcade? He's one of my favorite companions in that.
Yeah, I'm bi, and things being played naturally are great but when it's just obviously shoved in for "representation points" it feels disingenuous and pretty insulting. Big companies just trying to haphazardly add things so they can point and say "Look! We did this! We're great!"
@@ZeeNastee exactly, I love arcade and it should be one of the character companies should have in reference for gay representation.
If they aren't interested in making a good character to represent lgbtiq+ community I preffer them to not do it, another good example is Gotham Knights, since Tim Drake is bi and Dick Grayson too (I believe) they have a pride flag and some messages, i find it's good because they never told you that on the face because 1-the characters know 2-theres no moment in the history or gameplay that requires to say that 3-is just a layer on this characters and it respect that.

The more this game burns the happier I get. These greedy publishers need to feel the heat. This type of development will not be sustainable.
The sad part is that the studio/publishers are now so big that they can just write off these kind of losses. They only invest in massive projects because they just need one or two to actually succeed to pay for the rest. They won't bother supporting anything that can't hit those kind of numbers.
It's worse than that. The investment firms pushing ESG and DEI are basically propping them up so they can afford not to care.
Rocksteady filled its halls with braindead activists and then hired a DEI-funded writing firm to fill the story with outlandishly disgusting "modern day" tropes that normal people find contemptible. Rocksteady deserves its failure.

those people are what we call "idiots". They don't understand what statistics and representative sample size mean.
The amount of shilling and guerilla marketing on twitter is insane, you have to take 20min to mute them. And then the developer just went om posting how proud and how great the game is. " Oh please buy my game or im gonna lose my job ,please im a human being".
I wonder how many qualified, motivated, and legitimate people could've had his job? I wonder how much better the game would be with just one change in the staffing? Tbh, if the entire team behind this game was hired on merit, that is the only way it would've been worth playing.
If Sweet Baby inc consult GTA 6 and completely mess it up, I'll be done with gaming forever.

Because if you look at it from decision makers perspective it may look like players just aren't interested in them and they don't sell very well. It's sad because this genre have insane potential.
Saints Row and Forspoken failed as well. Starfield also failed despite good sales (and Bethesda fanboys). In fact except for Spiderman 2 and partially GoW Ragnarok the rest of the woke games have been a failure, these two are the exception because of the massive fanbase behind the IP and the fact that for once they are good game if you get past the woke cringe.
I mean there is a real super hero fatigue and this genre has been alive for decades
Even if wokeness wasn't a toxic ideology, it would still destroy itself by elevating people to positions of authority based on surface traits rather than competence. Rocksteady could completely remove the social messaging from Suicide Squad, but its gameplay would still be absolutely terrible.
Suicide Squad? Yeah, exactly!
Avengers do have good single player campaign that is quite praised, ok ish varied combat and mission.
Its the grind after that derided by many and cause the player base to flop as they quit after playing the campaign.

Sweet Baby Squad Kills the Rocksteady Inc.
12000 people paid 100 bucks to start playing 3 days early...
it is $1 200 000 not even close 1% to 170 million budget 😂
The developers costs are way higher than what the article says because it doesn't include marketing costs. The Last Of Us Part 2 for example lost at least 70 million dollars to Sony. Here's why. It sold 10 mill units sold. The budget was 220 mill plus 100 mill marketing costs= 320 mill $ total devs costs. The game dropped to 10-20$ price very soon because the game underperformed at release. The average price per unit sold for the 10 mill units was 40$. Out of the 10 mill units sold 4 mill units were digital. Digital clean earnings are 80% of each unit sold due to server fees, power fees and software costs. So 4 mill digital x 32$ per unit sold = 128 mill dollars earnings from digital sales. Now the juicy part. 6 mill units sold as physical copies. The average clean profit of each physical unit sold is 50% due to tax fees, distribution costs, manufacturing of the disk and case of the game costs, price cuts from retailers shops. So 6mill x 20$ per unit = 120 mill $ profit. So we have 128 mill $ from digital sales + 120 mill from physical sales = 248 mill clean profit for the studio. So the studio lost 320 mill (budget+ marketing costs) - 248 mill (profit) = 72 mill dollars for Sony and Naughty Dog. You see now why they were so desperate to rerelease the game as a remaster 4 years later. God of War Ragnarok on the other hand made huge profits. 15 mill units sold x 60$ per unit because the game's price never dropped due to performing so well.
The marketing costs of an exclusive are also marketing the console itself. I'm not sure where you get your $100M marketing costs from, but given the marketing (and mere existence of the game) would undoubtedly have contributed towards some people buying consoles too (with all the profits that follow from subsequent purchases) the net benefit to PlayStation of releasing it was very likely positive even prior to rereleases. Also I'm pretty skeptical that "digital clean earnings" are only 80%. Steam allows fully free games on their service which are very large downloads, you really think that costs them $8 to deliver for every downloader? Why would it cost Sony so much more?
I don't understand how WB thought a live service Suicide Squad would've worked when not even Marvel could get a Live service Avengers game to work
This game is AUD $ 104.95 if u want to charge AAA prices it better be a good game for the money and this is not it this is a $40 to $50 game
Turns out the Suicide Squad committed... well...
... a squat? Squads make squats, right? :D
2.9/10 on Google

5/10 on IGN
9/10 on Steam (totally not suspicious)
It's honestly so depressing, this game had one of the best concepts for a superhero game ever, the idea of playing as the Suicide Squad with the mission of killing the Justice League is fantastic, I don't care how uneven this fight should be on paper, fighting the Justice League until death sounds like so much fun.
But there was no reason this should've been a live service game, it literally did nothing but force Rocksteady to make the game as repetitive as possible, doesn't help every character play nearly the same outside of movement options. If they made this game a co-op/single player game with a combat reminiscent of Arkham, it would've been fantastic.
So I'm really trying to get an impression of what this game even is, and I feel like this is another game where the backlash is bigger than the actual game. I agree that the concept of killing the justice league sounds really fun; did you play it? Can you describe (without hyperbole and over-exaggeration) what went wrong?
I saw some clip of batman getting killed, and I was like... okay? Who cares? I don't understand the backlash
It would've been interesting to see them fight against all odds using everything possible for even a slight chance to gain an advantage. Like some reverse engineered brainiac technology that works/built differently with/for each character. And even then you'd need something truly tremendous cooked up that would justify killing even a single member of justice league.
Such a wasted opportunity. No one will try the same concept again and that's what really bad about all this.
@@jakethewoz I haven't played it, but the problem is simply that this had no reason to be a live service game, it forces the devs to make the game way too repetitive in order to "gain player engagement" which leads to less focus on making the game more unique, especially in the boss fights, and it also forces the game to always be online even on single player, and given that these types of games are at risk of going offline forever, the future of this game it's worrysome for those who bought it.
Batman's death was upsetting to a lot because that's supposedly Arkham Batman, a beloved character who went through hell and back, just to die like that, but it felt distasteful because it was one of Kevin Conroy's last performances as Batman, and given the awful coincidence, it felt distasteful, like a poorly aged joke.
It wouldn't be fantastic anyway if the writing is still so woke and awful. Most single player games thrive on a good story and good characters. Regardless of the direction issues this game is plagued with bad writing (thanks sweet baby inc) and badly butchered character personalities (hi Lex Luthor). It's a terrible game, no matter how you look at it.
@@jakethewozif you read a lot of the comments about the game, you'll notice most of the backlash is about the story rather than the actual gameplay. A story that isn't even complete because its going to continue in future updates. A lot of people also didn't like the live service aspect, which is understandable.
The product of woke multinational corporations permeating everything they can get their hands on. I miss the days when video games were made *by* gamers, *for* gamers.
Right now I'm 100 hours into not giving a damn about this title.
Flop Squad: Kill the Rocksteady Studio
Dang. Its uplifting to see people taking "vote with your wallet" seriously now. We've had 10 years of extreme political messeging, a new unspoken initiative of sorts.. But hey! Now you make a shit product, we'll very politely not support it by not buying it!
The real suicide squad was in the PR dept for the game. Lol
Anthem fumbled so suicide squad could flop
Holy shit!
People bought it.
This is what happens when you have Lex Luthor use words like patriarchy, stop hiring weirdos that hyper fixate on their own personal bullshit and worry about making a good game. I love superhero’s DC, Marvel, it doesn’t matter, but I’m not about to waste my time playing some dog shit like this
Just imagine giving people what they want instead of THE MESSAGE and live cloud services.
Shoulda just made a game centered around King Shark doing King Shark shit and call it “King Shark Shit”
I'd buy that tbh
Hol up, 12k people at 60$, so they didnt even make 720k on steam?
Surely not, considering Valve takes a big chunk of that too, about 30% I believe.
Its peak was 12k concurrent players. Not everyone who bought it played at the same time. But it gives us a ballpark idea of how many copies were sold.
There is some interpolation that estimates 80k/100k units sold on Steam but it's hard to say with the refunds (It's not the same 12k people playing it all the time. Nobody is that insane... Right?). They probably made around $4 million considering the 30% cut on PC, I don't think the consoles are doing much better. I would say they made around $15-20 million overall considering the 30% cuts but I believe the results are way worse considering the negative reception.
What really killed this game was the first gameplay trailer. Looked bad from the start. “If it’s not fun, why bother?” -Reggie Fils-Aimé
Harley Quinn: "Worth it"
Under 1000 concurrent now on Steam. They will have to cancel all future expansions for this game. You just cannot operate a live service video game with a player base under 1000 people 1 month after release. Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is now the next Anthem. Congrats Rocksteady I seen this coming a mile away, why couldnt you?
It took Palworld 2 and a half weeks to lose half it's peak playerbase and it's an early access. And it's still getting over 1 million plays concurrent on Weekdays.
Don't worry guys, in a couple years, a different studio is gonna make a "The Suicide Squad" game that'll be leagues better than this one.
No, we don’t want one loser.
He never played it like he promised huh
Good, im celebrating their failure
It just doesnt seem fun or sustainable, even fron a looter shooter perspective. Like shooting the same enemies in similar waves and occurances over and over and over again just seems like it'd get exhausting, not to mention the seemingly lack of variety in playstyle besides just choosing an entirely new character. Not to mention the story just feel like it has a lot of plot contrivances and conveniences for the sake of mechanics without any real effort being put into the "why" (mostly all the squad getting a bunch of fully operational equipment from a public museum). But as someone who hasnt played it myself, i cant say for sure
The pacing, repetition, lack of interesting weapons/enemies, piss poor story, etc. People want to say it failed because it's "woke" but it has a lot of other negatives going for it.
Thier deleting the negative reviews on steam
While Marvel surely have their ups and downs, DC always went downhill since Arkham Knight. We used to say "Marvel only good in movie department. DC have better animation, games, etc."
Now DC have nothing new to brag about, thanks to their own selfishness and stupidity.
There just aren't enough gamers to allow every attempted live service game to be financially viable. The sooner publishers realise this, the better.
Oh no. Anyways.
People are getting over the whole marvel/DC trend now imo... unless it's a staple like spider man or batman I don't see these types of games ever doing really well.
