Didn't even have a real name, he was just lawless. Zoe did have a vigilante identity once, but she used a bow and arrow. She wasn't... whatever this was. Different name too
This game was made specifically because they ignored what fans wanted and ignored their obvious next step. The further along you go making a game for no one, the more aimless it gets.

WB execs are on record as saying they "don't know what to do with Superman". The concept of someone who has immense power and uses it seflessly is actually foreign to them. The reason they're focusing on dark storylines and criminal elements so much instead of any hero is because that's who they actually identify with and understand, the villain that would unalive someone for a dollar.

I truly believe the newest generation of movie-goers would find it too boring. The last “pure” Superman I remember is the one from “All-Star Superman,” an animated film.

Wow they just renamed and re-imagined Zoe Lawton from the DC Universe. That character does exist already in the Comic Universe and her semi-villian name was Liveshot. Where her dad used his skills to kill. She used her skills to disable and non-lethal hits.

I agree. The concept can and has been done well multiple times. However making the character a self-righteous morally-superior criminal who steals from the faceless 'wealthy elite' we know nothing about, is very likely clout hungry with them livestreaming crimes while selling illegal highly dangerous weapons is a really bad implementation.
The reason it's written poorly and is bland is because it's a new character. That's not Rocksteady's job. There's already characters to use that have decades of history to draw from.

100000% these characters were the plan from the start, and the company was either too scared to redesign them (might offend someone) or didnt want to put good money after bad to spend time doing that. I genuinely hate to play devils advocate but wasn’t catwoman an ethical thief? She’s also a kleptomaniac. But what she steals she usually donates to an animal sanctuary or something. That being said I think this character design is terrible and lazy and her backstory is nowhere near as interesting as catwoman.
Almost all woman villians are like that in Gotham. Catwoman, Harley, Posion Ivy... some of them are even good guys now. I think they cannot write a woman villian that's just evil. They all have sympathetic stories or get reformed. At this point there has to be more reformed woman villians that are now heroes than just normal woman heroes. Searching a little bit even gave me a result with the title '10 female DC villians that are still evil'.
@@Antillles I mean, that's the modern trend. The characters before ESG / Social Justice / whatever it calls itself nowadays were quite different. Poison Ivy was a eco-terrorist who hated all human life. She regularly tried to kill every human in Gotham City, usually with bizarre plant-themed schemes. Harley Quinn was a mass-murderer and psychopath. If you felt bad for her because Joker was abusive and cruel, you'd get over it when she ran over your niece on the way to rob a bank. As for Catwoman, she used to just steal for her own coffers and/or for the thrill of it. But she never really killed anyone and, as far as most members of his rogue gallery go, she was the least objectionable of the bunch. Batman eventually starts dating her on-and-off, and she tries to mellow out for him. Key word being: "tries." She still caves for the occasional thrill-seeking heist, though Batman usually just scolds her and takes the item back. I don't even think he bothers trying to take her to the cops after a certain point. Of course, now... can't have bad female characters in DC Comics anymore. They're all just misunderstood victims of the patriarchy and have infinite redeemable qualities that totally outweight murder and mayhem. 😕
It's almost like they didn't have to open their fanfiction folder to implement this concept because better, more talented people already explored it in the 40's!

The point was seeing true villains in situations where they have to do morally good things and witness their reactions… she’s already a good guy… could’ve just given us the Superman game if you were going to write heroes doing good things. Also, the concept of this game had so much potential. A game with villains saving the world and heroes destroying it… and months later we have Disney channel characters in a DC game.
So bizarre, they wanted so badly to have a black character for their game, (ignoring dozens of established black DC villains like Black Manta) but then had to come up with these strange mental gymnastics about how they aren't a thief and are actually good. The Squad is supposed to have VILLAINS, so let the characters be bad people, even if they're bad with a potentially soft side. It's funny because I just started rewatching the Walking Dead the other day and had kinda forgotten that many people's favorite character, Daryl, was pretty much a ray-cst. He was seriously flawed but you grow to like him in spite of those flaws and he grows. You simply can't do that anymore. You have to be always right or your just a POS.

WB execs are on record as saying they "don't know what to do with Superman". The concept of someone who has immense power and uses it seflessly is actually foreign to them. The reason they're focusing on dark storylines and criminal elements so much instead of any hero is because that's who they actually identify with and understand, the villain that would unalive someone for a dollar.
@@megamandrn001and Superman is really the simplest character to make media of - he is shockingly humane for someone who is not even technically a human being. I remember the cartoons from the 1940s which would be re-run on channels when I was young, they managed to show the character in short form quite well.
But I think a key part of why WB does not use Superman in his original form is due to the fact that most would not like it. I truly believe the newest generation of movie-goers would find it too boring.
The last “pure” Superman I remember is the one from “All-Star Superman,” an animated film.

Wow they just renamed and re-imagined Zoe Lawton from the DC Universe. That character does exist already in the Comic Universe and her semi-villian name was Liveshot. Where her dad used his skills to kill. She used her skills to disable and non-lethal hits.

I agree. The concept can and has been done well multiple times. However making the character a self-righteous morally-superior criminal who steals from the faceless 'wealthy elite' we know nothing about, is very likely clout hungry with them livestreaming crimes while selling illegal highly dangerous weapons is a really bad implementation.
But ain't no asking for Robin Hood to be a part of the "suicide squad" a squad made of villans, not vigilantes
The reason it's written poorly and is bland is because it's a new character. That's not Rocksteady's job. There's already characters to use that have decades of history to draw from.

So I think we figured out how she ended up on the Suicide Squad. Pro Tips for amateur thieves thinking about going pro, don’t record felonious behavior. If you do, it makes the investigation and prosecution easier and shorter.
100000% these characters were the plan from the start, and the company was either too scared to redesign them (might offend someone) or didnt want to put good money after bad to spend time doing that.

I genuinely hate to play devils advocate but wasn’t catwoman an ethical thief? She’s also a kleptomaniac. But what she steals she usually donates to an animal sanctuary or something. That being said I think this character design is terrible and lazy and her backstory is nowhere near as interesting as catwoman.
Almost all woman villians are like that in Gotham. Catwoman, Harley, Posion Ivy... some of them are even good guys now. I think they cannot write a woman villian that's just evil. They all have sympathetic stories or get reformed. At this point there has to be more reformed woman villians that are now heroes than just normal woman heroes.
Searching a little bit even gave me a result with the title '10 female DC villians that are still evil'.

The characters before ESG / Social Justice / whatever it calls itself nowadays were quite different. Poison Ivy was a eco-terrorist who hated all human life. She regularly tried to kill every human in Gotham City, usually with bizarre plant-themed schemes. Harley Quinn was a mass-murderer and psychopath. If you felt bad for her because Joker was abusive and cruel, you'd get over it when she ran over your niece on the way to rob a bank.
As for Catwoman, she used to just steal for her own coffers and/or for the thrill of it. But she never really killed anyone and, as far as most members of his rogue gallery go, she was the least objectionable of the bunch. Batman eventually starts dating her on-and-off, and she tries to mellow out for him. Key word being: "tries." She still caves for the occasional thrill-seeking heist, though Batman usually just scolds her and takes the item back. I don't even think he bothers trying to take her to the cops after a certain point.
Of course, now... can't have bad female characters in DC Comics anymore. They're all just misunderstood victims of the patriarchy and have infinite redeemable qualities that totally outweight murder and mayhem. 😕

Her whole Disney channel sounding synopsis sounds like the antithesis of what was the point of the Suicide Squad. The point was seeing true villains in situations where they have to do morally good things and witness their reactions… she’s already a good guy… could’ve just given us the Superman game if you were going to write heroes doing good things. Also, the concept of this game had so much potential. A game with villains saving the world and heroes destroying it… and months later we have Disney channel characters in a DC game.

To be fair, the previous character Mrs. Freeze is an arrogant eco terrorist and she was an unrepentant partner in crime with her version of Nora.
But this "Lawless" girl is so fucking corny it hurts. The Squad is supposed to have VILLAINS, so let the characters be bad people, even if they're bad with a potentially soft side. Lawless feels like a character from a CW TV series stuffed into what's supposed to be a rated R film.
