Great video guys. Please cherish those hunts with your Dad, you are so lucky to be able to do so and also have it all on video to watch forever. And your Dad is a stud to still be packing in and out of those hills. His smile after the painful wait to shoot says it all! Loved the video!
Excellent. I love how you guys work close and take high percentage shots. Your Dad was very careful and calculated with his shot and it paid off. Well done, guys. Nice bear too!
Great video, awesome color phase bear. The time it took to take a shot was killing me, 😂, but patience sometimes pays off.. definitely gave you some awesome footage of the bear rubbing his back.. nice job , great group effort 🙌🏻
Haha yes I was killing me also. Especially because everything was set up perfect for filming. I cut that down a bunch also. It really took him much longer to decide to shoot! We did get some great footage though! Thanks for watching!
Thanks TJ! I learn a few more editing tricks with each video. I was a little worried about some of the audio on this one but I think it came out pretty good!
Thanks for the comment. It’s great having a hunting partner with the same mindset and passion. We have had some off camera disagreements 🙂 but sometimes those are healthy in order to move forward with the hunt lol. When your hunting with family you can tend to be more opinionated than with a friend. Regardless of the outcome, we have created some amazing memories together that we will have forever! Thanks for watching!
I've been packing in and hunting that same exact set of ridges for 7 years. I appreciate you guys not posting as many location drops on this year's video as the area seems to be getting more people action the last few years.
I have tried to keep my OnX maps and overall scenery maps as vague as possible while still trying to paint somewhat of a picture of the landscape. I feel like you would have had to have hunted here previously in order to figure it out based on the video. (At least that was my intent). Thanks for watching. Maybe see you out there some year.
@@heavyhunts I think you did a great job on this one not giving it away. The video you put together last year was a little bit more obvious, but once again I think someone would really have to search hard to see where you guys are going. I enjoy watching you guys hunt the same terrain. I know how how tough and rugged it is dropping in and out of those drainages, but also know how rewarding it is. We must have missed you guys by a few weeks this year. We pulled three bears out of there this spring.
Nice. We ended up shooting 2. I’m posting the other video when I finish editing. My bear was not as big but it was the last day. We will probably go back next year but I’ll be holding out for a big chocolate. And yes that’s some steep country but i like the workouts! Congrats on your bear!
I would agree. This is just my second year spring bear hunting out west but it seems you can spot bear out and about anytime of the day in early May. But the afternoons definitely seem to trump the mornings. Congrats on your bear!
I've got to say you guys don't take the easy route you always take the hard routes and that's what I used to do to get away from people thanks for sharing
Great video but your dad was killing me lol. I'd been losing my mind if i was yall. Wish i could do it with my ol man but his health wont allow for it!
@heavyhunts lmao I have no doubt about that! They say patience is a virtue unfortunately screwed and have none lol . I'd been messing with him about taking forever lol
This video is freakin awesome! It gets me excited to try to do it myself one day and was wondering what dates you hunted and have had the most success when going?
Thanks for the comment. I have always gone the last week of April or the first week of May. So that’s the only dates I have experience but we have always been in the bear during those dates. I’ll be going about that time again this year. Good luck when you give it a shot!
Havent finished this video yet. Question: when you get a large game animal, how do you remove it from this environment for harvesting? Or do you harvest everything there and pack it out? I have never hunted
@@heavyhunts sweet. My channel is The Boundary Paradox and always wanting improve and I really dig y’all’s style. We just posted our alaska bear hunt a couple days ago. What is your primary camera? Guessing it’s a mirrorless?
I will have to check out your channel! My primary camera is a Sony A7sIII. I’m still learning how to use it better but I can’t complain with the quality of the video! My sound was a little off on this hunt but I tried to adjust as best as possible in post.
just a suggestion bro. give a commentary by adding your voice after the shoot is over. If you keeping showing footage of yourself walking and filming as you talk it kind off starts to get monotonous. Its better if you use that time to show the scenery and all the action taking place. Its a suggestion do not take it negatively or feel bad. Am not complaining or being critical. End of the day you invested a lot in making this video and the results are good.
Couldn’t disagree more. Voice overs after the fact take away authenticity and bring you out of the hunt. It’s a cheap way to produce and takes away from the final product. That’s like going back and filming fake hiking/stalking footage after the hunt is done to add into the video. Sure, as first glance it seems like you’re adding something, but the authenticity you lose is worth much more.
I’m not by my pack right now but I believe it’s a 5600 which I do t think they make anymore. My dad just bought the Pro 7800 bag. I would recommend the at least the 6000 or the 7800 if your doing extended backcountry hunt for a week or more. More room is always better than less and I think the weight difference between the 6000 and 7800 is less than 4oz. We really like the design and feel of the Kuiu packs.
Could be! They were about the same size. They hung together for a few days before we lost track of them. I think it was to early to be hanging together for mating.
The patience of a monk lol

I have to say waiting for that shot to break was excruciating.
And I edited a good 15 minutes out lol.

Appreciate the comment! Closer is always better!
Nice job on the vid. Awesome to have a family hunting together.
Congratulations !! Dad and sons. I am so jealous having the opportunity to hunt with your sons. Memories that will last a lifetime.
You three guys are hard workers
Heck of a shot! Nothing better than hunting with Dad.
What and awesome hunt you guys get after it your dad is a stud. Congrats on a beautiful bear
Man what a great hunt. Brings me back to the old days of hunt with the family. Congrats to you old man for harvesting a nice black bear.
Thanks for the comment! Family hunts are always special. Glad it could bring back some good memories!

Just started watching this channel. Quality of the videos are very good.
Thank you. Glad your enjoying them! Thanks for the comment!
Looked like a fun hunt, congrats!
Lots of fun! Thanks for watching
My first bear and my buddies, both Wednesdays at exactly a week apart 2.57pm. Those afternoon snack times get alot of bears

I trimmed it down a ton too! 😂
@heavyhunts I don't doubt that the anxiety would have killed me before he got the bear if I was you lol.
It’s twice as bad when your trying to film 😂

We typically quarter the animal and pack it out using our backpacks. Sometimes it’s multiple trips with the gear. Thanks for watching!
Great job capturing this. What editing software do you guys use?
Thanks man! We use Final Cut Pro

What brand/caliber rifle? That thing smoked him! Loved the hunt guys cheers!
Rifle is a 30 Nosler. Shooting 210 gain Nosler accubond bullets. Thanks for watching!

Milking that shot a bit haha
