In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. The "I don't have a clue" item was a brake chamber for a semi.
You sir are a influencer, I was seperating non-ferrous the other day and a piece went past my ear. A watch yo head popped out of my mouth before I knew what was happening. The Mrs. looked at me like I had lost my mind. LOL if she only knew.
The thing you were questioning was an air break cylinder for an 18wheeler. Don't take it apart. There is a powerful spring inside under a huge amount of force. It can kill you.
Yeah. Used to be a heavy duty mechanic. You don’t want to take them apart unless they are caged. High pressure spring.
Yep had to take one apart on a concrete truck on the job once with the truck still running . It was definitely a watch your head moment when it flew apart.
It's not that powerful not nearly as bad as a front spring on a car.
They are made so you can't take the back off
It’s a semi truck brake chamber, it’s supposed to be disarmed before being tossed out, spring loaded, supposed to cut spring with a torch before being tossed out , now it’s not safe the way it is , stay away, I’ve cut plenty of chambers,
Those of us who no longer have or maybe never had such cat-like abilities certainly admire yours!
The poles were from the pool box that you moved and the big thing you thought was a compressor was actually a brake cylinder from a tractor-trailer.
"I think these poles are maybe for a trampoline or something" - after moving the pool box showing those poles in the picture 😄. We love ya Mike! Man I feel like you could start a pallet business just with what you find in dumpsters. It's a shame so many businesses just throw them away. Btw, T-shirt idea: "Gotta be strong!" with a stick-figure holding up a fridge or something of the sort.
Enjoy your new bike mike
We need to follow up on this and a trip to the junkyard with the stuff
Yes !!! I agree
That turntable is worth lots just for parts! Should sell better than a pound of steel for sure....
The crazy looking thing in the dumpster you were thinking might be a compresser. It is a brake chamber off a larger truck or semi with air brakes. I've had the pleasure of changing a few whatever you do don't tear it apart there's compressed spring in it if you're not careful they will fly apart and take your head off
Working hard for the money! 🎶 Good video!
I worry every time Mike jumps into a bin that he's going to land on an upturned nail. And God knows the germs that would be on it. Stay safe!
That and the fact that I'm hoping he has no regrets when he gets to a certain age that his knees and ankles are going to be in pain, I cringe everytime he jumps off the dumpters!!!!
G C - I hope he is up to date with his Tetanus injection!!!!!.
The thing you picked up at 18.30 is a brake servo off of a truck. They have a diaphragm and spring inside. The trucks air pressure over comes the spring pressure and pushes on the rod to apply the brakes when you stomp on the brake pedal. Another awesome video Mike.
I thought servos were electric? I used to maintain semi brakes. We just called them diaphragms.
We used those vents in front of diesel generator radiators. They were positioned for the best airflow based on the temperature of the facility.
I know it’s impossible to record every scrap run but it would be interesting to see how much the iron scrap weighs on this load. (P.S. because I ❤️ you, DON’T put too much strain on that mesh. It’s still early days! 😘)
I just mentioned that Mike needs to be careful. I’m not aware of any mesh though…maybe I missed that part.
Hey Mike I get watch another video of Mike the scavenger thank you again for great videos.
Always a great day in the Dumpsters with Mike.
Watch your head !!
😊😅
Mike one of these days, one of those dumpsters is gonna hit you back 😆
Less than FOUR THOUSAND new subscribers needed for MTS to be at 500k!!! Amazing. Share, share, share! Let's help get it done before Mike's birthday 🎂
That canisters looking thing is for the breaks on a semi truck or semi trailer. It pushes the breaks out to stop them. It's called a break chamber.
Another day with the scavenger!!! Love your content!
Mike Mike Mike!!! Thanks for taking us along with you!!! I appreciate you so much!!! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work! Stay weird!!!!
Adventures in dumpster diving with Mike is curiously entertaining. Thanks, Mike!
I love how you plow through shit!😊
I need to get out of the cubicle more and get busy scrappin.
That pod you found that you said was some kinda air thing is an air break pod. I think you'll find your scrap yard won't take it cause it's under extreme spring pressure inside they explode violently if the retaining ring around the middle is broken.
I love it when you say....oOoOO watch your head!!!!!!
Wow.....Dottie was hungry that evening!!!
Hi Mike & Laura wishing a very Happy Easter to you and yours.
Mike contact some of the local hams in the area and they might purchase some of those cables so wait on cutting the ends off...
I have watched other dumpster divers, you for sure are the hardest working Scavenger on utube, keep up the good work and good videos. Thanks
Good morning from Australia and Happy Easter and have a wonderful Good Friday. ❤ from Nanette
Mike is the actual shit. "Why you want to hurt me?"
At 18:15, you found a commercial truck - spring loaded, air brake chamber. A critical part of the air brake system on big trucks.
Hey Mike, I have an old saying while scrapping, "I don't know what it is but it is mine now".😂
at 18 min. brake chamber for a semi, very powerful spring inside, don't take apart unless you "cage" the brake chamber. you could get hurt if you don't do it right
Dottie's hungry like cookie monster.
Those big metal panels could make a great shed for the back yard. Almost big enough for the outside of a tiny house. Your enthusiasm is infectious!
Might want to take it a tiny bit slower with the heavy stuff to make your body last a long time.
Dang that’s some nice square tube and pipe! I could actually use that on my projects 😂
Great dumpster diving!!!
Wow dude. Your route is always hopping!
Those gray poles were for a above ground pool; you moved the box for them at 4:42 😂
Hey man I know you got to pay your bills and I know that Junking out of industrial dumpsters makes you more money. But man I wish you would throw in some junking down the city streets or the neighborhood streets I love seeing what other people's trash turns into your treasure
😂 yep here's Tornatoe Mike at it again yall, getten that money
Great haul Mike!!! 🙂👍🙂💕

A shame that Thorens was thrown in the trash. One of the better brands out there. Also in parts should get you a decent amount. Great video as always
