Who knew a 250-year-old hymn needed metal? Apparently this 33-year old Brazilian metal singer did. He worked for years to develop the power and range and techniques of his voice and put it into this beautiful song. He has stated he is a Christian (Methodist) and put this out for Easter. He has well over 200 videos out there spanning nearly 10 years; much of his work is secular in nature. You may want to check out "Adeste Fideles" and "Angels We have Heard on High" for a start. Everything he does is fire. Dan Vasc sings this as though he is St. Michael slaying demons while praising the Almighty. I'm convinced that archangels sing metal.
I have been listening to his cover for a couple of months now and boy oh boy. He just "sprinkles" the metal in appropriate places. He is a Christian from Brazil. The harmonica is brilliant, it gives it a Celtic feel. I live down the street from a Catholic Church and I hear this song on the bagpipes often. Also, for myself and many others, who are recovering from addictive disorders in 12 Step programs we revere this song. Whether we are religious or not. It's about salvation. Blessings...

I think it is perfect in his rendition of Amazing Grace. I absolutely LOVE Dan's interpretation of this classic and beloved hymn!! He's got so much vocal and breath control! IMHO, he's the best tenor out there right now! The harmonica really gets me, too because my precious Granny played it beautifully. As I grew up we'd gather around the piano as a family, I'd play (and sing alto or 2nd soprano) and she'd play harmonica, while the rest of the family joined in. Priceless memories! The way he brings out the inner harmonies and builds each "layer" so carefully is absolutely captivating!!I truly believe that all of Heaven stopped to listen when Dan sung this! Dan is from Brazil and has a band named Fearless. His brother and two of his friends are in it. His father was Italian and his mother is Brazilian. He does all his own recording, usually in his garage, and all his music is free use, so there aren’t any copyright issues and can be played without the stuff they usually put reactors through. He can sing anything from Disney to Broadway, metal to classical. You’re going to enjoy your trip

Turning pop songs into metal, you've got to listen to "Pokerface" or his duet with Violet Orlandi on "Kiss From a Rose," one of my very favorites. I like both better than the originals. I could go on and on. There are just so many gems that will blow your socks off, like "Black Wind, Fire, and Steel" with guest bassist, the amazing Luis Mariutti. I think (my opinion) that Dan is somewhat of a musical genius! He does all of his own arrangements, shows tremendous imagination and versatility.
